We'd love, love, love to go to Alaska but there is no way I'm flying all the way out there from PA with 3 kids...maybe for our 20 the wedding anniversary we'll go w/o the kids...sigh...that's only 7 years away-lol!

at work can't see podcast...anyway did they mention what the ports would be for the repos from Vancouver to LA???:cool1:

I travel to Alaska yearly for work so not really interested in that cruise. ps...Alaska is very expensive so expect to see high dollar cruise prices to come out especially since the cruises will only be from May-Aug.

I believe someone posted that it was Vancouver, Victoria, 2 days at sea, and Ensenada? I will find the post and include it in the first post. :)

Thank goodness for search!!! :) Searched the thread for Victoria and found it right away. :)

Sail date (Sept. 20)

Tuesday Vancouver, Canada — 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday Victoria, Canada 7:15 a.m. 4:30 p.m.
Thursday At Sea — —
Friday At Sea — —
Saturday Ensenada, Mexico 12:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m.
Sunday Los Angeles, California 9:30 a.m. —

It may not be snowing, but it can be rainy and cold. My cousin just returned from a 14 day Alaska cruise. She said it rained and was in the 60s everyday.
Thanks for the clarification.

We didn't have rain, but it was on the cool side. Especially the Tracy Arm Fjord day - a lot of outside standing. Be prepared for rain though. A fleece/sweater is a good choice and pants. Hard packing fall clothes when all you are doing is wearing summer stuff.

I'm incredibly sad by this announcement! We have been longing to try a 7-night Caribbean cruise after our first 4-night try last year. Guess what Disney . . . you're not forcing me to take kids out of school to accommodate you, so I'll be happy to have my deposits back and give them to another line who will take me for 7 nights to the Caribbean IN THE SUMMER!

Don't give up hope yet. The Dream is the one that is going to be doing the 7-night Caribbean cruises summer 2011. That schedule hasn't been announced yet. A PP said that the Dream ship and 2011 schedule will be unveiled at the end of next month.

Thanks for posting the pics, Roger. I'll need to compare them with ours to see about the receding bit. We didn't get to see any calving either, but saw video of it calving previously from our waiter.

Are you thinking about doing one of the Alaska trips?

Maybe, will have to kick this around over then next week or so. We would love to do the repo to Vancouver but the dates don't work. Maybe we could do a 7 day and pop over to Victoria for a couple of days.

I just got home and don't really know whats going on , We just wanted to go on a 7 day E caribbean in Feb 2011 ,With all the ships moving around what ship will be doing those cruises ? and would a family of 6 be able to do it for around $4.000.00.I know we could with the 2010 prices but I don't know about the 2011 prices.Hopefully they haven't gone up too much.

The Magic will be doing the 7 day cruises out of PC January - April/May 2011 and September - December 2011.

I can't believe they're sailing to Europe again next year in the summer either as they're obviously having a hard time filling the ships for 2010 since the kids sail free. I'd love to cruise to Europe but my kids(and dh) could never tolerate the flying to get over there plus it's too darn expensive for us!:confused3
I was hoping for maybe a cruise to Bermuda from NYC!!!

Dumb question... how far is Victoria from Vancouver.... in case we want to add a day or two there to our trip... My vacation wheels are spinning.. LOL!

You'll have the new ship.

Looks like Andrew missed the mark on this one!!!
Thanks, DUH, should have looked there first!

:lmao:

Got the top prize wrong but I would mark my self 95%!!!

OK This time got part wrong I was posting since December saying Alaska, and saying it wasn’t dead and people were talking to me about it, and then switched to Hawaii when more people said that on ship. Funny my own head server on the Magic a few weeks back said its Europe on the Magic for 2011 I thought he was wrong and its 2012!!! Boy I had the scoop and didn’t believe it! I summarize all the things I have posted this year, and sometimes 2008, where relevant, there isn’t anything new in this list but a convenient summary of posts made.

In 2008 said DCL will go back to West coast USA for 2011.-Confirmed .

IE I have posted many times; the Wonder cannot be there all year.-Confirmed Alaska.

Said there of course would be a Panama Repo. January 2011 I said Feb (close)

Said there would be 7 night Mexican Riviera cruises. Confirmed,, press photos show Cabo San Lucas a port on that route.

Said on announcement of Wonder going to LA, that Dream will take over ¾ night cruises, (well Magic Europe, and 7 night Caribbean, it has to be!)

Posted that would not be it only, there would be a lot more. TBC Looks correct.

Said all this year, that the Cruises would be released for sale in October 2009. Confirmed on ship. Now it’s end September 2009, Very close on that!
(Disboards continuously said November 2009)

Said the Dream would come into service in Feb 2011, looks like January 2011, very close against other projections.-Confirmed on ship.

Posted connection to New York on Dream and its will be unveiled
live in New York City on October 29! at 4:15 p.m. EST,

Have posted all this year we will see in 2011, Hawaii 12>14 night trips, and that Alaska wasn’t completely dead. –We know of DCL; s attempts to organise a permit for Glacier Bay, then pulled out. Well wrong on Hawaii, that’s next time! Right on Alaska.

Have posted a return to Europe in 2012 for the Magic. Well its 2011!!

Said Captain Tom will take charge of the Dream.

Mentioned longer Southern Caribbean Cruises in the winter of 2011.????

Informed everyone in July 2009, that there would be a very big announcement re the new ship Dream and the new itineraries for 2011, ‘within two months’ and a series of other smaller announcements, we have seen Castaway club changes and castaway cay announcements. D23 expo was then announced.

Have continued to mention the desire to build up a European presence and increase staff at its London office.

Mentioned the goal/desire to tie in with more Disney parks including Far East Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Mentioned we will see a string of cruises that tie in together like Med/Baltic in 2010.(right)

Continuously reminded everyone that both new ships will be tied to Port Canaveral for their first three years each.

Mentioned the San Diego options which came to press a month or so after I posted it. Is on the back burner for two years till 2013.

If the Dream is doing the 7 night cruises will it also be doing 4 night cruises? I've been reading all the posts since I got home from work (it's 7.20 in the evening here) I understand that the itinereary for the Dream is to be announced at the end of October but won't Disney be offering 3 and 4 night cruises all year round then? I was banking on doing a 4 night cruise to Nassau/CC in June 2011.

The Disney Dream will be unveiled live in NYC on October 29. Beginning at 4:15 pm EST you can watch the streaming video of the unveil and be part of the action at disneycruise.com.

This is cool - if the date holds, we can go to see the ship for my son's BD!!

Okay - I sorta stuck on the website -- I get it Alaska for the Wonder - sooooo excited I booked the 5-dayer from PC on the Wonder so I can see the new ship before it goes to LA. Just got off the Wonder this past August and book a dummy date (12/5/10) for the Magic so I can get a date for 2011 - not the Alaskan cruise that would be a long haul for us from NY, but for the Dream or for the Magic (if they were doing Caribbean routes over the summer of 2011). I don't see that the Magic is cruising anywhere but the Mediterranean for 2011 Summer (which is out of our league for a family of 5 - I wish I had $10K to dump on the cruise but I don't). that being said, is there anywhere on DCL site that mentions the Dream going to Bahamas or Caribbean for August 2011??? I'm locked out.:worship:

If you go to the DCL site and let your mouse sit over the cruises and destinations tab at the top of the page a new sub-menu will pop up with all the different cruises listed. If you one of them it will take you to a page with a tab for the dates. It lists all the dates for Carribean 7 days through the end of 2011. From the looks of these listing there will be no Caribbean 7 days during the summer months.

I'm going to have to print up a 2011 calendar to figure things out. Kids go back into school on Sept. 6 (day after Labor Day).

Too many decisions right now. We'll be on one of the Alaska trips for sure. Got two placeholder cruises booked - 06MAR10 - Western and a NOV10 Eastern (sans kids for our 20th anniv). Have to wait to find out where the band is going for their spring trip and then make a decision about the 06MAR10 cruise. Bummer is that one of the options for the band trip is an Alaskan cruise - to which Karl has already said he's not going as RCI had nothing for the teens. No way - he'll go three years in a row. Got to love teenagers.

We'd love to do one of the repo's as well, but dates don't work or they are too long for us to cox my sis into kid watching for us.

You want a prize? Giant stuffed animal? Framed certificate? Special forum tag?

OK, so does anybody know if gold and platinum CC members will be able to book the Alaska cruises one week before the 28th?

Okay maybe I'm having a serious brain fart, but we are talking the unveiling of the Dream on 10/29/2010, correct? They seriously can't unveil it in 6 weeks. :confused3

It's been a long week. :rotfl2:

Dumb question... how far is Victoria from Vancouver.... in case we want to add a day or two there to our trip... My vacation wheels are spinning.. LOL!

About an hour drive from downtown Vancouver, a beautiful 1.5 hour ferry ride and then about 1/2 hour into Victoria. Ferry cost approximately $100 for car and four adults. Runs every hour in the summer 7am - 9 pm.
