ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

QOTD! KtP had a wait time of over 3 hours for Test Track yesterday! What is the longest you would wait for your favorite ride?

The longest we waited was in DL for TSM since they don't have fast pass for that ride its always a long wait... But for those who are planning a trip head over to TSM while everyone is watching the first showing of world of color cause it'll be walk on for you and then see the late world of color showing with less little kids lol!!!

Thanks! Will look into Vero and St. Aug. Husband is drawn to Daytona to check out the track there (I guess there is a tour?). I'll be at the beach/pool!!!! Can't wait!

In our family I'm the one who wants to go to that track in Daytona. However, the last time I looked at it the tours of the track were cost prohibitive for us, which reminds me I need to look at that again since I believe they closed one of the museums there at the track so I'm not sure how that's affected tours/pricing.

The crowds/lineups tested me today at Calgary Stampede...yikes!! Maybe I am not as ready for Disney as I thought I was!

Omg the crowds were stupid at the stampede yesterday! That's nothing like WDW in August!!! That's like WDW at Christmas lol!!!

We were also stuck in that sea of people last night having tickets for the chucks and evening show! The chucks were great and the show was a lot like watching the mini pops preform but we had fun! Getting out reminded me of why I prefer Disney though since there won't generally be 10000 drunk stupid people all over the place lmao!

33 days today!!!

I am really stressed about this whole FP+ thing. I know it's likely we won't be affected this trip but I'm afraid of what it will do to any future trips. I work in education so we're likely to always go in the summers even when we're going childless. I can't imagine having only 3-4 FPs in the MK. I can live with it for the other parks but not for MK. I'm starting to feel like this might be our last trip and that's just adding so much stress to me about this trip. I just can't believe that Disney is moving forward with something that so many people have expressed dislike for, it just doesn't make sense.

Is anyone else worried about this stuff... should I just unfollow all the threads about it and wipe it from my memory for now?

Yes, unfollow the threads! :) But seriously, I am not worried about it. Disney won't replace traditional fastpasses until the kinks have been worked out. So although I believe we will get a chance to try Fastpass+ in August, traditional fastpasses should still be available for our vacation. And don't add worry about future vacations to this trip. Just enjoy the one you have this year! :goodvibes

I know DH checked the times of the tours so I'm assuming he knows how much they cost. I'll be sure to ask now lol.

I just remembered that my dates are posted free right now on Touring Plans, and the crowd calendar there is much more favorable than easyWDW, so lets hope Touring Plans is right! My current plan is a bit commando - I'm a ride junkie! But we also have a toddler and preschooler coming who mainly want to meet characters. We have a character meal every day, and the kids will ride what they can, and when their aunt and myself ride the big kid rides, they can do character meets that we couldn't meet at meals with their dad and grandpa - grandpa can't do rides and their big strong army dad is scared of them! :lmao:
Josh posted an article about the June FP+ testing. It looked like 95% of testers rated their experience "excellent" but they still had access to the regular fastpasses, so they weren't limited. I would think that's pretty awesome too... :rolleyes1 I don't think we can be selected to test - military tickets can't be linked, can they?

I can't believe how close this is!! We are leaving in 16 days. I still have SO MUCH to do. It WILL all get done, but I can't believe how fast time is going!!

We were at the chucks and show too last night! I'm glad to know that the crowds aren't that crazy....I was worried!

The military tickets can't be linked, so I'm pretty sure we'll be excluded from testing. Right now I'm content with fast passes, but I like the idea of the bracelets! I'm interested to see how it all works out, I just don't want to be a guinea pig!

That's exactly how I feel!

Life got busy and I have been MIA for a few weeks. The summer and our countdown are flying by. Wow, so many pages on this thread, I spent the evening catching up. Glad everyone is getting excited.

We have 34 days and in the last 2 days I have changed around ADR's and a couple of park days. We are now in Epcot on the 19th but we will still miss the dis meet on the 20th as we have BOG :) but no park hoppers :(

We also changed resorts a couple of months ago and are now at the Allstar Music family suites. With 5 of us we will have a lot more room and a preferred location for only a little more $$ compared to our standard room at POR.

I started gathering things to pack and put them in a central location today. We had already done most of our shopping a few weeks ago so that made it easier. I am so ready to go but don't want to wish away the summer!

I think some of us will be in Epcot on the 19th. I meant to make a list, but forgot! Anyone up for a meet on the 19th?

Wow! We are at the end of August so I still feels far off. How is Josh doing?

Just got back from my WDW training trip, we did 4 days at Busch Gardens/ Water Country USA VA, during this trip we timed how long it was going to take to get to Lorton VA for the AutoTrain, also while at the park we trained for high temps, rain, getting to the park for opening, and most of all walking around all day touring, I can say we are ready to go, only 20 more days till the real trip:thumbsup2

Busy weekend for me so I was a bit AWOL. This thread is a fast mover. We're going to need a new thread before August is over. :lmao:

I saw the changes on the MDE site that includes more official stuff about FP+ and the MagicBands. I think those staying on site have a good chance at being testers of the new system but I don't think it will be live until September, so those that wish to avoid it are probably safe.

I was thinking about it though and how it will impact my touring strategy and honestly I think it will make our experience better. Our goal is typically to do as much of something at least once during the trip and on rare occasions we'll do something more than once if we have time for it. Last year we did double FP rides on a couple of things that DD2 was too small for and DW didn't want to do so DD1 and I rode them back to back on FP and it was fun. We've skipped on out things before due to long rides (TSMM in 2010 when we didn't know what a big deal that was) and didn't feel like our trip lacked anything in particular because we saw and did so much other stuff. With rare exception most things will be there when we return, so we can make those a priority on the next trip. I think we'll be able to book 4 things per day without any issue. We'll already know what park we're doing based on ADR's that we booked at 180 days, so picking what we want to do at 60 days isn't that far fetched to me.

As for standing in standby, I grew up going to Cedar Point where waits for new rides could be well into the 2 hour mark and the queues weren't interactive or in many cases shaded. It was just cattle rails sending us back and forth. I'd probably try to avoid anything longer than a half hour, but a hour would probably be the big limit unless it's something that my kids really wanted to do. I think we stood in line for an hour at ETWB and maybe 45 minutes or so for TLSW. I know it was 45 minutes for HM and IASW. It just depends on the situation.

I do love the idea of the bands though. If we can have our tickets, room keys, PP, etc all on a band instead of fishing it out of a lanyard or pocket, etc it will be nice. I'm just thinking about carrying my sleeping kid back to my room and being able to just lean in with the MB and tap the door unlock it. Don't have to worry about your FP tags, photopass cards, etc. Plus I think there is potential for the ability to find other members of your party based on location in the parks. Maybe it's just me but this kool-aid tastes good. :drinking1

Me personally, I'd be on the side of your DH on this one. I love adding new and unique elements to a vacation, and during the summer, I think a couple of days at Daytona Beach would be da bomb.

Plus, if your DH is anything like mine, he is usually is pretty quiet about his vacation wish-list (happy to do all the things that DS and I have our hearts set on). So if he actually says "hey honey, you know what I'd like to do when we are on holidays? ___________________ " then I would move heaven and earth to make it so :) .

Agree completely. There are a lot of things dh enjoys at Disney but he always wants a few waterpark days in the summer, and Ohana on every trip. That's it. He'll give his opinion if asked, but those are the only two things he requests. I go out of my way to make them happen because a happy hubby makes for a happy trip and he's so easy going it's worth it:)

I guess I've had the kool-aid too. I worry a bit about the potential of missing out on some favorites, but everything else seems pretty cool. I'd like to test it if I get the offer to.

It would make sense if the MagicBands had this capability. They are able to do this now with the Mickey Bands kids wear on the cruises. When you pick up your child from the kids club, they can tell what room your child is in based on the Mickey Band. It was weird the first time we experienced it!

In going back and re-reading some things about the MagicBands, I just read that purchases totaling over $50 will require a PIN. I didn't even put two and two together about them asking for a PIN during online check-in. I never remember that question before, so it looks like we may be getting MagicBands? :confused3

We were asked to create a pin. I thought it would be to use our KTTWC.
