ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

Both parks have shaded beach chairs in a private access area close to the food options and in convenient places to the rest of the park. I think I just googled the name of the park and "premium chairs" to read about them. They are $40 for two loungers but all the pictures show 2 smaller chairs with them. It's a more comfortable area for me to leave my stuff and it beats having to be there right at opening to get a good spot. They do often fill to capacity in the summer :)

Wow that seems a little silly, i know it will be busy when we go and really we didn't spend much time in a seat at aquatica so i just don't know if i'd bother. I'll google and read though since having the information is always better than not knowing at all! Thx

I am not a fan of fruit in my dessert but on these boards Dole Whip is divine!!!! I guess I will have to try it. Am I alone? I heart chocolate!

I love chocolate too but the dole whip is heavenly lol!

In 6 1/2 weeks we will be in DW. Dh and I just decided last month that we would go. We were just there last summer but we went with our kids and met up with my sister's family for a magical event at BLT.

This trip is for dh and I. We will be celebrating his retirement from teaching for 35 years and our 35th wedding anniversary. We can't wait to not have to wait for people like you have when you are a large group. Dh and I like to make it to RD but with 11 people we never did.

We have kept this a secret from everyone including our sons. I have told our youngest that I am taking dad away for our anniversary but that is as far as we have told them. We will tell them after our anniversary next month.

When we booked this trip towards the end of May, I messaged our kids to make sure they'd be around to take care of the furbabies (we were in the process of adopting a new one and I broke that to them at that time, lol). But I told them that Dad and I 'NEED' to get away. I did not tell them we were going to Disney, lol. They are 25 and 22 so they have to stay home and house and animal sit :)

no, no, no, no, NO! Please say this isn't true. I love the Tiki Room...I'm in a small minority, but it really is one of my favorite things to do in the MK and just feels so "Disney" to me. :sad2:

Also not looking forward to the spillover crowds if two big attractions in Adventureland are closed at the same time.

Ditto on this. I've seen the original in WDW Tiki Room, then the new one, then the return to the original and it's a fun and cute show. I've got pictures from our trip in 2010 where we escaped from the sweltering heat in September. Definitely disappointed that this will be closed. Aside from a fun show it's also a break from the heat.

Congratulations on 35 years together! pixiedust: :cool1: :worship: Takes a lot to make it that far.

We are watching Enchanted on Disney right now, too!

I know, I cringe when Disney reuses voices too much or uses actors that are too recognizable as another character. It's like the time my DD wanted to know why Mary Poppins sounds and looks like Maria from Sound of Music. It takes away some of the magic when kids start realizing that one person is the voice or face behind many characters.

It's funny though, DD never catches John Ratzenberger's voice and he's in EVERYTHING. Mack in Cars, the school of fish in Nemo, Ham in Toy Story... I love when I catch his voice, because I grew up watching him on TV.

Can I wait in BOG lunch line while Mom and my girls go ride or tour New Fantasy land??

I wouldn't - it's just like holding a spot in a ride line, especially in Disney where dining is as much an experience as rides are. And at BOG lunch cast members will give you a menu to look at while you wait so that by the time you get the kiosk you're ready to order, so they might stop you from holding a place.

Wow so much has happened in the last day!
Ok, I'll admit that I'm a little bored.

QOTD: What Disney food item are you most looking forward to?

Meal item I think it would be the Pork Shank at Gaston's Tavern. Dessert wise I think I'm wanting to try the Sand Pail or the Kitchen Sink.

Of course the best thing about Disney food is that it contains zero calories! :lmao:

I don't know that there is one food in particular. We love to try different restaurants every time we go, so I guess just experiencing some new stuff. However, I really love the frozen strawberry bars, especially when it's super hot. I can't believe with all the times I've been to TL I have never heard about the Sand Pail. I think we will need to try that.

Seems unlikely. They refurbed it, it caught on fire, and they shut it down to fix it and change it back all in the last few years. I can't imagine what would need to be refurbed again. Unless they are equipping it for NextGen fastpass+ stuff. Which may be the case.

I miss Zazu and Iago. I'd love to see them come back.

Really???!!!! I HAVE to try this. It's sounds like a creamsicle in a cup!!
I am not a dole whip fan but this sounds marvellous!! I will even wear my "Orange Bird" shirt to MK that day:rotfl:

I think we discussed this before but I forget so I am asking again. Has anyone booked the premium beach chairs at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? I am highly considering it. Should I book now? I imagine they'd sell out fast in August. I'd love a cabana but they are way too steep for my budget on this trip.
My other question is when I look at the chairs it appears there are 2 large loungers and 2 smaller chairs. I think that would be enough for the Dh and I and our 2 kids? Or am I misreading it and we'll need to rent 2 sets of lounge chairs? Any thoughts?
I am still having the age old "Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon" debate. I've only been to Typhoon Lagoon. Dh and ds have been to both multiple times. I don't know if I want to add WP&M to our tickets because I don't know that I want to do two waterpark days. But the amount to add the WP&M is literally just a few dollars more than one water park ticket so we might as well. Decisions Decisions.:confused3

My FIL was asking me about the chairs, and usually I say no, but I am now concerned that there will be less chairs than usual with the Teen Beach Movie Dance Party they are doing on the beach every day. We have only ever been to TL. Being from the northeast we get enough snow, so I never want to see more snow even if it is fake on vacation. I do want to check out BB some time just haven't found the right time yet.

I also love chocolate, but have to try one of these Dole Whips. Usually once you put fruit in a dessert, I call it an appetizer. :rotfl2:

So true. We were watching Up the other day, and he's in that, too!

I love John Ratzenburger! I especially love the short (at the end of the one of the Cars movies) where they made all the Pixar films Cars films and he says, hey they use the same voice all the time and makes fun of it. I have always found it to be fun to search out his character in the Pixar films.

QOTD: With only about a month to go for us, give or take, what is on your Disney to do list?

I need to do autograph books still for my kids! :scared: Last year I made scrapbooked ones, but started them six months in advance. I'm tempted to just buy a book there, but I think I will use some DISigns and have it bound at an office supply store? I finally checked off ordering my PhotoPass+, but I wanted to do Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage so I have to see if there is still space available for that! I also need to sort out what exactly I'm putting in the kids welcome gifts and a welcome letter. Oh, and I have to find a kennel for the dogs! The questions is, will it all get done?????

Ha! Well I will surely report back on if the Dole Whip converts me! :)

I've got to do online checkin. I've also got to get a bathing suit coverup, which is shockingly difficult to find for some reason. I just want something I can throw over my bathing suit to go to the pool, but I can't find something that fits the bill. I also need to arrange with my dad who is bringing what into the park so I can decide what bag to bring. Hopefully I can convince him to carry my rain jacket for me so that I can bring my favourite camera bag that doesn't have a ton of room for extras.

QOTD: With only about a month to go for us, give or take, what is on your Disney to do list?

I need to:

Pay my balance lol...today is 46 days out for us. But it's actually my TA who needs to pay it. I would have thought I'd see it hit this morning.

Break in my Keens. I think I'm ok with my other Disney shoes.

Finalize which shoes the boys will be wearing/need

Print my autograph journal cards

Finalize my ADRs (which incidentally have gotten out of control in the past day or so...I keep adding and changing my mind!!)

Arrange car service/kennel, but I suppose I should do that for my trip in three weeks first, huh?

Decide if anyone needs new clothes.

I'm sure there's more!

It was so funny, I almost thought he wasn't in Monsters University but at the very end they threw him in.

I went to Disney many times before I ever tried a Dole Whip, I just couldn't understand how it could be so great. We were actually in DL as part of DD's Make a Wish trip and when our tour guide found out we had never tried it she insisted and with one try we were all hooked! It really is good!

Another ditto from me on this. I've never seen the original so I've been really looking forward to it so I really hope it will be open!

I'm just slowly working on packing lists for each of my kids... I think that's all I have. I considered making t-shirts but I don't think I have the extra funds to buy the transfers.

Do you have a Kohl's nearby? I got mine there and I love it, it's white and sleeveless and zips up the front. My dd didn't want that kind so she just got an oversized button down denim shirt. Good luck finding one, I spent a few years looking for what I really wanted.
