ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

Just a reminder for anyone who will be at POR during the week of 8/18 -- son and I will be at the pool most afternoons! He is 11, but gets along well with kids of all ages. Last year we worked it out with another mom and son, and the kids had a blast while us moms enjoyed some lovely adult beverages. So if you will be there and your child would like a pool friend, we'll be there too. :thumbsup2

I have 3 boys- 11, 9, 6....we will look for you at the pool!!

QOTD: What Disney food item are you most looking forward to?

School bread, Dole Whips and trying Via Napoli pizza!!

Gosh..that's a good question!
Hmm... there's this breakfast sandwich thing with pork and egg on focaccia that I had at Sunshine Seasons a few trips ago. I still think about that thing:blush:
I don't know if it will be as good as I remember or was just something that hit the spot when I was starving. We'll see if it's even there anymore.

I am really looking forward to Boma and Tutto Italia. I've never had a bad meal at either place. And ds LOVES the fried chicken at Hoop Dee Doo. I am a savoury flavours person. I like desserts but they aren't what I look forward to the most.

DuckTales! That would be a Long Lost Friend they could bring back. Huey, Dewey and Louie and Scrooge McDuck!

DD1 used to watch "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland" over and over and over again. My wife and I could probably still recite it from memory.

I learned long ago to make copies of my DVD's and use those for the kids. We've also moved into the world of digital and most of the movies the kids have available on iPads for road trips.

We completely skipped Animation Hall last trip with Ralph and Penelope because the kids hadn't seen Wreck-it Ralph yet. Of course they saw it right when they got home and wanted to know why they didn't see them at DHS. Hopefully they are still there in August.

We're at 46 days today. I found the cheat sheets on easywdw.com yesterday and was going over some of those with my wife. Going to dig a little deeper into them here in the next couple of weeks. Looks like some good strategies for things. Of course some of that could be different depending on how FP+ works and if it's rolled out or testing by the time we go.

Target has Duck Tales! We picked Rescue Rangers though bc the Chip and Dale Classic cartoons were a hit on the cruise.

Ok, I'll admit that I'm a little bored.

QOTD: What Disney food item are you most looking forward to?

Meal item I think it would be the Pork Shank at Gaston's Tavern. Dessert wise I think I'm wanting to try the Sand Pail or the Kitchen Sink.

Of course the best thing about Disney food is that it contains zero calories! :lmao:

Ugh, this pregnancy food is so unappealing, which is no fun when at Disney! Probably a Dole Whip, but I also really want to try the Nutella Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hollow!

Oh and I'm most excited to eat at Cinderella's Royal Table, Via Napoli, Biergarten and breakfast at O'hana! I am excited to try so many new places!

Disney corn dogs and Mickey Bars are 2 of my top 5 favorite foods. I've had to switch to a gluten free diet since our last trip but have heard about GF mini corn dogs at Disney. I'm really excited to try all the GF Disney has to offer. I've heard such good things!

DORK ALERT!!! DORK ALERT!!!
I'll be wearing these at our DisMeet in Epcot!!!

I want to meet you specifically because you would wear something like that!!! I love it and we'd be fast friends. I live to mortify my teenager:rotfl2::rotfl:

Too bad it's before my dates but have a blast!!:goodvibes

How do evening EMH work? How can they tell between resort guests and off property evening stragglers (lol)? Not that we will make it to any evening EMH hours but was just wondering. How about morning hours?

In the evening, you'll need to show a key to the world card at the entrances to attractions. In the AM, you'll use your KTTW to get in. If you're OFF-site you don't have a KTTW.

We are looking forward to trying Tonga Toast for the first time. We are planning on swinging by Captain Cook's before MK one morning to try it out!

It's a tradition for my family to eat at the Kona Café the last morning of each trip just so I can eat Tonga Toast! YUM

I forgot about the Nutella Waffle Sandwich- delish!!

I just read on the DIS that the Enchanted Tiki Room would be closed from 7/31-8/28. I can't find it listed as being closed on any other site (even Touring Plans). I find it surprising considering that Jungle Cruise will also be closed in Adventureland for many days during the same time period. Not my favorite attraction, but one that I love just because it's an original Walt (at least the one in DL) and one I would be sad to miss it.

Anyone know if it's true or not?

I was determined to eat at Kona Cafe this trip to try it, and then I discovered it's also at Capt Cooks. We are on a QS dining plan this trip, so it works out perfectly!

This would be awful if it is true! Another indoor attraction down during the August heat???

Clifton Hill was busy on Sunday, but surprisingly still really manageable. We waited maybe 5 minutes to board the Skywheel, which we thought was awesome. After spin on the Skywheel, we mini golfed at Dinosaur Adventure Golf, toured Movieland Wax Museum, rode Ghostblasters and played some games at the midway, ate some Dippin Dots and a Beavertail (my first!!), went to the Hershey Store and the Coke Store, then walked down through the gardens and took our traditional photos by the Falls. We left the lodge after lunch and were back in time for dinner :thumbsup2 .

I hope you got some nice weather for your Canada Day relaxation plans! It was pretty dreary here. We had thought about hitting up the fireworks but we were so pooped after travelling home, we decided to take a pass and hit the sack.

I had my first Beavertail in Canada and I was hooked immediately!!

Count me in as one of those whose kids are too old for watching the Disney movies over and over, and I do miss it. Maybe that's why we are all enjoying our movie nights so much lol.

Seems unlikely. They refurbed it, it caught on fire, and they shut it down to fix it and change it back all in the last few years. I can't imagine what would need to be refurbed again. Unless they are equipping it for NextGen fastpass+ stuff. Which may be the case.

By meal....
Snack: Mickey Bar (although I love dole whip floats)
Dinner: Cape May Cafe since we have never been there
Dessert: Wishes dessert party...chocolate covered strawberries

Oh boy...I am looking forward to so much I don't even know where to start! I am having so much trouble with my ADRs....I keep adding them and I don't know which ones to cancel!

Some of my favorites are snacking around the world in Epcot, Dole Whips at the Poly, popcorn at some point, snacks from Villians to enjoy while watching F!, Cheddar Cheese soup at LeCellier (along with the pretzel bread), the list goes on and on. We want to try a Kitchen Sink too...but maybe the Sand Pail would be smarter. Who knows....it depends on how easy it will be to get a table at B&C!
