I'm not sure about that first dinner though - I'm tempted to trade it out for Chef Mickey's or Ohana. All 3 would be new for us. Anyone have advice that way?

I looked into Fulton's as I wanted to eat there on our arrival night. It would have to be OOP for us and the prices were too rich. You are looking at $36-59.99 per person (according to the My Disney Experience app) for dinner. But you are eating on a paddle boat!
I was reading about some changes to Ohana's menu. Now there is one sauce served with the meats - peanut, and the other 2 sauces are not available. There is mango and papaya in the salad now too. This may be a tasty change, I haven't eaten there.
Don't know about Chef Mickey's.

3 Days until I can book my ADRs!!! Can't wait!

We've narrowed down our list - bumping some places to "next trip" or "runner up" status.
We also have a tentative plan for which parks we're going to each day.
Tuesday - arrive/ check in/ pool day/ DTD, dinner at Fulton's, dessert at Ghiridelli
Wednesday -MK - early lunch at BOG, dinner at Tony's
Thursday -MK am, then park hop to EP for lunch at Via Napoli's
Friday- AK, lunch at TRex
Saturday- HS, breakfast at Hollywood and Vine, possible early dinner at 50's Prime Time
Sunday - EP- breakfast in Norway
Monday- MK - breakfast at Crystal Palace
Tuesday come home :(

The inlaws might be joining us for part of the trip, so we might adjust the days again, but I told them they have to let me know before I make the ressies if they want to be included!!

Sorry to bug but - your trip starts on the 20th right? so you get to make ADR's on wednesday morning? hahaha just making sure i have the right day! :goodvibes

Thursday Night's
Question of the Day

How do you snack at Disney?
Are you planning to bring snacks or are you having them shipped to your room?
Do you haul them in a back pack into the parks?
Do you use up all of your snack credits on the dinning plan?
Any snacking tips to share with the group?

We have done many different things, from ordering from Garden Grocer, which I find very convenient, to shopping there when I had a rental car. We packed a lot of snacks this past December, including a larger Tupperware container that had clementines, bananas, granola bars, pop tarts, etc. We also packed a sleeve of crackers and a jar of peanut butter for easy breakfast snacks so we can eat on the run. We used to buy water but we now always rely on the free filtered ice water in the parks...my favorite tip of all! If we did buy breakfast, we would get a water and use the refillable mug and save the water for the park. We always use all of our credits for snacks. We like to get the kids uncrusatables as a snack for a breakfast. You can also get a bagel. A splurge snack is the ice cream sandwich at the bakery...enough for 2-3 to share. Dole whip floats are a must do snack once or twice on the trip!

Hello August crew!!

I have just convinced my husband and my mom to let me go to Disney World again. We have been planning a cruise for 2014, so my husband didn't want to spend any more money, but i convinced him we would live poor to pay for a vacation this summer. Since my parents couldn't go on the cruise with us (they didn't want to pull my 15 year old sister out of school) they agreed to go with us in August!! Wahoo!!

I have all my ADRs made, I got all the restaurants i wanted, but not all the times i wanted, but that's okay, we'll make due!

I'm super excited for this trip because I feel like we've been enough times that we've seen all the "must see" stuff and now we can just kinda take our time and enjoy. We aren't planning on going to Fantasmic or waiting forever to see a parade or fireworks, unless we feel like it at the time. It's kind of liberating, haha!

Anyway, I look forward to counting down, looking forward, and planning with all of you here!:cool1::banana::banana::banana::cool1:

All ADR's made:thumbsup2
Park Days Planned:thumbsup2
Haircut at Harmony Barbershop made:thumbsup2

Now my main focus for the next few months will be hunting out rumors of things that may or may not pan out on our trip, the thing with rumors is you might only hear about them once and they are never updated or confirmed, so when something pans out it's a added bonus:thumbsup2

Have you heard if they found gel to replace what they used to use? When we were there in August they had just stopped using it. It was the only reason we got the boys haircuts there.

:headache: How did I miss this??
Brown Derby is 2 table service credits!!
This is a BIG disapointment for me. I really wanted to eat some great food @ WDW and already gave up many restaurants in favor of character breakfasts for DD7 who does not partake in lunch -due to med side effect
ADRs on Tues, gotta pick a replacement restaurant, guess I will try to make BOG dinner ressie.
Whats a good CS restaurant @ HS? Never even looked as I was planning 50's Prime & Brown Derby.

We were very happy with Mama Melrose in December if you decide to eat at a TS. Our lunch at the ABC Commisary was pretty good too. Nothing to write home about, but a good burger and more choices than Pizza Planet.

We ate at Mama Melrose in September. It was good but it took FOREVER! I don't know if it was just bad luck, but it probably took over an hour for the whole meal. That's a big chunk out of a park day. The food was good though. :)

We ate at MM last August and the reason we loved it there was because it took forever. It was the only meal that we didn't feel rushed by our server. We like to relax at our meals in between courses. At the end of our meal the server gave us all fast passes and apologized for the delay. We thanked her for the delay!

I agree. We liked Mama Melrose, but we had very slow service (the kind where you start looking around to see if people who were seated after you were being served before you). Sometimes it's nice to sit and rest without feeling rushed, but if you are hungry or have young kids (which we did) or are on a time crunch, it could be frustrating.

My vacation starts on the 18th and I am pretty sure my ADR date is Tuesday (at least that is what the Disney website says), which means if you are going on the 20th yours would be Thursday.

Welcome! So glad you will be going in August and not have to wait any longer!!

Just found this page! I am so excited to join! We are going this august 5-15 ...longest trip i have ever done! It will be me, DH, DS5, &DD3. We will be doing a split stay (also a first) starting at shades of green and ending at my beloved Poly! Happy planning!

Please read the following heavily laden with sarcasm:
My dinning plan starts the 18th...arrival on the 17th eating dinner OOP. More to the point, we are making our ADRs on Tues at 7am on the phone.
Momto3gr8boys, I hope you aren't planing to make any ressies I want!! I will be there on the phone at 7 ('cause what's the point in fighting with the website:confused3) and I will get that BOG for the 18th!! The gloves are off.
No, actually you are the only person I know who is reserving Tues and I am really kidding....but my ADRs are key in my vacation plan and I won't let anyone stand in my way. But good luck to you and I hope you get that ressie I don't want at Yachtman's or Flying fish.:laughing:

Our ADR date is also on Tuesday, but after switching to a value resort, we decided to keep the free QS plan instead of the regular dining plan. So we are one less family you need to contend with for BOG! I'm tempted to make some reservations in case we decide to upgrade later or pay OOP, but at the same time, I don't want reservations tempting us to upgrade later or pay OOP! :)

Lol I'll be up and ready! But if your resort stay starts on the 17th, I think you can make your ADRs today! Call ad find out!

SenecaWolf, can you change my resort to Beach Club? Same dates, but our TA managed to squeeze us in at Beach Club so we jumped on the chance! I've been dying to stay there since our first trip to Disney! Yacht Club isn't much different, but I like the look of the Beach Club rooms better.

I think I finally have our park days and ADR plans figured out, so I'm really hoping I get everything I want. My ADR date is next Sunday the 24th. I don't know what everyone's talking about with all the website problems and the My Disney Experience thing? When I go to the Disney site it's the same old site as it's always been and I can make ADR's the same way with no problems. Is it because I'm in Canada that I'm seeing something different? I don't even know what My Disney Experience is LOL. I feel out of the loop and it's making me a bit nervous for when I need to make my ADRs!

Anywho, here are our plans:

23 - Arrive around 8:30. Order in Giordanos stuffed pizza!
24 - AK - Tusker House 8:00 am, Cape May Clambake around 6:00 pm
25 - HS then hope to MK for EMH. Ohana around 6:00 pm
26 - EP - Biergarten around 6:00 pm
27 - MK - Flying Fish around 7:00 pm, Jellyrolls after dinner
28 - Might do TL in morning, or just be lazy at resort. DTD in afternoon for shopping and Cirque du Soleil. Eating at Earl of Sandwich for lunch and WPE for supper.
29 - EP - Dinner at Le Cellier around 6:00 pm.
30 - Leave for home around 11:00 am. :(

The only one I'm unsure about is Biergarten. I LOVE it there, but we've gone twice now. Any other suggestions for your favorite place in Epcot other than Le Cellier? Also, is Flying Fish the best restaurant on the boardwalk in your opinion or is there a better option?

I understand. Were I paying for this vacation I would be QS all the way. However my lovely mother is giving me this trip as a B-Day gift, so I get to eat at 5,000 Character Breakfasts so my DD can fuel up for the day and not crash & burn in the parks around 1pm. (due to meds she does not partake in lunch) It's been a real point of frustration for me to give up the really delish TS lunch restaurants in favor of a well fed 7 yo. but that's parenthood for ya.

Oh I am about to call right now!! Woo Hoo!! I really hate the idea of 30 mins wait on my cell but we don't have a land line anymore. I just read on my WDW Lines phone application chat that someone was on the phone with the TA and they put in 6 ppl for BOG on Aug 18th at 5pm. Only the party was for 5, in the few seconds they took to correct the error the ressie was taken by someone else and they had to take 4:30!! I can only hope someone cancels or makes that mistake when I call for my ADRs.

Just a thought....Why not try Ohana on the 24th, BOG on the 25th and wait til the 27th for Cape May? You'll jump around less.

YAY my ADRs are set! Could not make them on line, stupid glitches! I called and was on hold for 35 minutes. Good thing I had off today. I guess some of that magic pixie dust did sprinkle my way. Got everyone I wanted:) Chef Mickey first morning, Ohana 2nd evening, Narcoossee for an adult dinner, Crystal palace before park opening ( first time doing that), Tutto Italian, and...... BE OUR GUEST 6:15!!!! :surprised: I may make one more.... One can never stop planning. Sending more pixie dust to all of you.... Happy ADRing!

In WS, I like Teppan Edo, Rose and Crown and San Angel. Via Nappoli also gets great reviews. And I would be you aren't seeing MDE because you are in Canada. As of this point, the only thing you are missing are the headaches!

I am so excited to make my ADRs in the morning!!

Wouldn't that be more jumping around? We're staying at Beach Club, so on the 24th I had planned to stay at the hotel and go to Cape May as AK closes early anyways. So we'll just go to AK, then back to the hotel and eat there. After looking at the menu and reviews/photos, I don't really want to try BOG. (I know I'm in the minority here!) The plan for the 25th was to do a half day at HS, then back to resort for a rest, then head to MK. We'll hop on monorail and go to Ohana's for supper first, then to MK for EMH. For the 27th, I don't think we'll be at MK all day, I think we'll be back at Beach Club by supper so we were just going to walk down the boardwalk to Flying Fish. Maybe did you think we were staying somewhere different?

In WS, I like Teppan Edo, Rose and Crown and San Angel. Via Nappoli also gets great reviews. And I would be you aren't seeing MDE because you are in Canada. As of this point, the only thing you are missing are the headaches!

Good to know about the MDE as I had no clue what anyone was talking about! So is the whole Disney site different now? Hope they don't decide to change the Canadian site before I need to make my ADR's next weekend! Hubby wanted to try Teppan Edo, but I don't want to sit at a table with other people. I know we will be at Biergarten too, but I like german food better than Japanese so that's why Biergarten won out. I'll take another look though at Rose and Crown and San Angel, we've never ate at either of those. San Angel is definitely a beautiful restaurant though! Thanks! :thumbsup2
