Howdy Dis friends!!!
Just doing a quick check in today. I am finding it hard to keep up and feel badly that I don't comment on all the posts. Please know if I pick out one or two to respond to it's because I feel like I have something useful to share or say, but I do read every post from all of you and stay updated with you guys when I can! I just love this thread and planning with you guys!! Lurkers and newbies, please jump right in.. we want to hear your plans too!!!

I am getting some gardening done this weekend and going to the drive-in tonight. I was trying to plan a quick long weekend trip to Lake George for when school ends. I don't know that I can make it work.
3 nights in a decent clean hotel or motel, plus food, gas and attractions for the 4 of us for 3 nights is looking to be around $1200 -$1500 :scared1:

When I think that's a third of my trip budget for August I don't think it's a good idea right now. And my summer trip is 10 nights, Disney tickets, a dining plan, flights from Canada to Florida and spending money! We'll see but it's probably a better idea to pay off the Disney trip balance and spend the summer doing local activities.:). I just can't believe it's $200 a night for a motel room in the mountains!

Yikes! We found a good deal through groupon for a hotel in banff for $99!

We'll be doing one night away for our anniversary in a couple weeks. Other than that i agree we'll pay off our trip and stick close to home for a while ;-)

Banff is hands down the most beautiful place I have ever been on the planet:cloud9:
The location I am looking at is in the Adirondack area and though it is a beautiful place, the Rockies make the Adirondack mountains look like anthills:rotfl2:
Also, the selection and quality of hotels in Banff is much better. We go to a place in Lake Placid every Thanksgiving that is beautiful but my dad treats and rents 3 bedroom units in a beautiful resort. They are WAY out of my price range. $200 gets you a motel room. Cute and clean but from the 1950's. Food prices are very very high.
I can't justify it for a weekend getaway unfortunately.
Enjoy your night in Banff! Once Disney is out of our system that is where we will take the kids!! My husband has never been and my kids will love it.

A friend of mine stayed in 8a last year, at her request, and we were in Casitas 4, per my request. They were good about meeting requests. There was a convention, but it was barely noticeable, I only saw the signs for it. We were there the last week of August. What week are you going?

We will be there Aug 17th-24th. I am super excited. :cool1:

I'll be there at same time as you, but at POR this year!

Thanks for the CSR info. I do hope the are able to get us into building 8a. Glad to know others have had success with requests.
I think we picked the perfect week. :-)

I love Banff! We spent 10 days there for our honeymoon. One of the most beautiful places on earth.

We priced out Great Wolf Lodge for a couple of nights over Canada weekend, and almost fainted :faint: . A few days during the summer in Niagara Falls can make an Orlando trip look cheap!

Hot here today, 96 deg when we went to Lowes

Swim suits already almost gone from our local WalMart. Ok now I am just chattering on.

Whew, that's HOT!!!!! Disney in August should be a breeze for your family!

Very warm here today to, with lots of humidity, but not quite as hot as it is where you are.

Ooh, that sounds nice! banff is wonderful for quick getaways. Was the Groupon recent? We were hoping to head up there in a few weeks to hike Plain of Six Glaciers and the Beehive, for my birthday. :)

Yes the last few days actually!

Has anyone done the Family Magic Tour or whatever it's called at MK? Trying to decide if it'd be a good addition to our plans or not...DS6 and DD2...

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

We took the tour when our boys were 6 and 4.They still talk about it! We were fortunate enough to be the only family too! The CM we had was so animated! We got to ride 2 rides along the way with no wait and had a special meet and greet at the end. I think it was well worth it if you have the time to take part:)

Good morning all!!! Doing my Happy Dance this morning because I am at my 60 day mark and I JUST did my on-line checkin!!!!:cool1:

I have seen debate about whether or not this is a good idea. I think I was so excited that it was time to do that, I just wanted to do SOMETHING, so I did it!!!! I requested ground floor (for my mom) and Toy Story building for DS (his request). So, hopefully we will get our requests. If not, I will just be so happy to be there, I won't worry about it!! :dance3:

Koh1977--we did the Family Magic Tour several years ago and DS STILL Talks about it!!! It was AWESOME!!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

This family magic tour you all are speaking of -- is it pricey? Would my 11 year old enjoy it, or is it for little ones?

My DS was 11 or 12 when we did this and he LOVED it!!! There were younger children on our tour, but then he was kind of the "big brother" to the little ones. It was really cute. Grandma loved this tour too!! And at $34, it is NOT cost prohibitive!! I think its well worth it!!

Yay for the big 6-0! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We're finally at 12 weeks. It's been going by faster now that we've passed 100 days, but not fast enough. I'm ready for some magic! pixiedust:

I hope you get your requested areas! We wont be doing online check in. Its a new resort for us so we want the whole chat at the desk for them to tell us everything.

I hope so too!! We have been to ASMo several times, so don't need the whole spiel--just our room keys and a place to dump our luggage before we hit Magic Kingdom for th day!! :cool1:

Hi Everyone! I was previously apart of the August 2012 group but didn't think we would be going this year. Depressing, I know. My DH said that we would go and stay at his parents condo in Kissimmee but not go to the parks (double depressing). However, my husband surprised me the other day by telling me not only will we be going to the parks, but we will be spending half the week on property! I'm so excited! The tentative date is the week of the 26th. I'm not 100% sure when we will be going yet or what hotel we'll be staying at but after the crappy year I've had, I'm so excited!!
