WISH Away the Pounds Outstanding October Challenge -- Everyone welcome!

Hi -

I just sent my PM, but thought I'd jump into the conversation. :wave2:

I'm Laura - 40something from Long Island, New York. I've been doing these WISH challenges on and off for a while.

I set my goal for the month at 10 pounds - I know that is pretty ambitious, but I think at my weight (over 200) it is possible.

In the past, my only activity was walking a few miles each night. But about 2 months ago, I joined a boot camp. It is pretty intense and I am doing things that I never thought possible. Although I've only lost about 7 pounds so far, I am losing inches by leaps and bounds. :cool1: (For pictures, see this post: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3174168

Until recently I was following a combination of Weight Watchers and tracking calories on LoseIt. This past Saturday I started following a plan recommended by my boot camp trainer. It is based on calculating your needed daily macronutrients (carbs, proteins, fats) and caloric deficits specific to a variety of factors. We are doing a six-week challenge at boot camp, so I thought it would be the perfect time to join a WISH challenge as well.

Looking forward to working with you guys this month. :thumbsup2

Hi All!

Usually I lurk, but I haven't even done that on this thread in several months! Figured it was about time I started up again since I can't seem to lose on my own! That and the seasons have changed and my clothes don't fit! :lmao:

So I'm Linda, 48, married to DH for 25+ years (we celebrated in DLR last year!) with 2 DS. Yesterday one started his second year of college. The second is a junior in high school with a huge recital open to the public at our church in the spring. He's our Renaissance Man. Last time I participated was when DS1 was getting ready to graduate, so now I figure I can use this recital to get me going!

I was doing a "Rose" challenge of sit ups every night. I made it through several months and then somehow just forgot one night and that was that! Where's that hand slapping smilie?! Now I think I'll start up again.

Today I was good and after work (I sub as an assistant for the school district) I ate a yogurt instead of the big fat handful of Costco chocolate covered almonds I really wanted! They are in the house because DH is a major chocoholic, but he is a "moderator" and I am an "abstainer." Not a good combo for my waistline. ;)

Wow, it is so nice to see so many new and familiar people! And let me just go ahead and throw myself onto that pumpkin boat right from the start! My friend and I hike every weekend and afterwards chat at starbucks whilst I enjoy myself a nice venti iced skinny pumpkin spice latte  And I stock up on canned pumpkin all year long... that stuff is a godsend, truly, you can do soooo many things with it!

QOTD Monday, September 30, 2013 and Tuesday, October 1, 2013: Please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your goals for the challenge and the rest of the year. You don't have to share numbers, it can be general.

Hi all  I am Amanda, 32 (can't believe I just wrote that, first time intorducing myself as 32... weird), engaged to my wonderful DF (who is so awesome he proposed in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle last summer), and have 2 wonderful kids (12 yo son and 6 yo daughter) who DF treats as his own. I work as a child welfare specialist for the state, crazy and draining, but I do love my work. I have always been overweight, always. I did lose about 100 lbs a few years ago but have sadly gained most of it back. Have been trying to GET HEALTHY (vs. just lose weight), with the help of WISH and MFP, for a couple years now. I do not want to give myself some ultimate goal, BUT I do have a huge event (the wedding) coming up in 5 1/2 months so I do need to be serious and not slip up. So that is my goal. Do not stop, keep going, and feel amazing on my big day.

I have done weight watchers off and on over the years, and have managed to keep off more than half of the 70 pounds I lost in 2005 and 2006, but a lot have crept back on. It is time to really crack down and move toward my ultimate weight loss goal and lifetime WW membership. My DH, Howard, and I are doing a 12 night Mediterranean Disney cruise next summer, and I know I will be much happier and will enjoy all the touring more if I can take off some considerable amount of weight.

I am happy to share this journey with all of you. I love seeing some familiar names and faces here!

Oh what an exciting thing for you!! That would be my dream vacation... a trip to the Mediterranean! And a cruise to boot (never been on a cruise and would so love to do this)!!

And I love  your vow renewal pics... that would be another dream, a Disney wedding! But I will settle for some Disney time as a honeymoon if we can squeeze it into our budget!

Hi, I'm Helen. I started a weight loss programme called Slimming World here in the UK back in January, around the same time I discovered these lovely WISH challenges.

I started at 238, and am proud to say that at class tonight, I officially weighed in at 167.5...70.5 lbs that I never want to see again.

Helen! You have done ahhhmazing!!

We are back from visiting DS and ready to get settled in our apartment at least until we figure out where we are going in our life adventure. Our house is officially closed, the mortgage paid off, and the new people have moved in. Still a little sad, but mostly ready to get organized! :)

Wow, Rose, I guess I did miss a lot. Well congrats on your new and exciting journeys ahead!

****************
Again, so happy to see everyone here, I have missed you all! And I am particularly thrilled to see so many new folks and look forward to getting to know you!

And one other disclaimer, I am on the west coast(ish) and usually only get time to post at night after the kiddos are tucked in so I will be on different schedule than most of you with replying and all :)

Oh, you guys, I love the pumpkin, too! I have a recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that I bring out every fall...they're crazy good. Soft, pillowy cookies. I've been resisting making them so far because it's only been September, but now here we are in October. The best thing I can do with those is make the double batch, keep a couple for myself, and give the rest away... :)

XO

Confessional time for me. Last night we had a baby shower for a coworker at Red Robin. Do you guys know how many calories are in EVERYTHING there?!?! After much research I finally decided on a simply chicken burger because it was only 400-something. I took the buns away and ate it like a salad. So that was good. But I had the whole basket of fries that come with it. Which is bad! I haven't weighed yet this morning (still in bed), but I'm hoping the scale won't hate me too much. I've found that being good is so easy. I enjoy the veggies and my salmon and chicken. But boy is it easy to NOT be good too. Note to self: One month of healthy eating is not enough of a habit to become strong enough to resist all evil foods.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the PMs and kind words -- I will be catching up on the participant list as soon as I have posted the QOTD. I forgot to warn you that I am a west coaster, too, so don't worry if you don't see a question first thing in the morning if you live on the east coast, or beyond. :cool2:

All this talk of pumpkin goodies made me this of this article from sparkpeople.com called 5 Tips to Start Fresh this Fall.

Summer is winding down and now my favorite season of the year is here: fall. I have always felt nostalgic and dreamy this time of year. I think it's because I enjoyed school as a kid and still associate the autumn season with the start of a new school year that promised good times, good friends and even better memories that still live with me today, like the smell of bonfires, Friday night football games, donning my favorite new back-to-school clothes, and my feet crunching on leaves in the crisp weather. Fall even smells better, if you ask me.

Why not harness the magical power of this new season (which begins officially on September 23) to recommit to your healthy living goals and weight-loss program? You may not be heading back to school like you did in years past, but that doesnt mean that you can't reinvent yourself all the same.

A strong re-start is just what you need right now, before October turns into a month-long celebration of Halloween and then the holidays are all around us. Don't wait for that to happen to you, or for January 1 to eventually roll around, finding you several pounds heavier and lacking in motivation. Here are five tips to help you get back on the wagon this fall.

Reinvent your fitness program. Fall weather is the best weather, as the risks of heat- or cold-related emergencies plummet and the weather is especially tolerable. Try a new fall fitness activity, like trail hiking, mountain biking, or a recreational flag football league for grownups. Sometimes a new workout is just the ticket to get you excited again. Need more ideas? Look no further.

Refresh your meal plans. So many delicious (and nutritious) foods make their debut in the fall, from squash to sweet potatoes to figs to apples. If your diet is starting to feel a little "blah," then spice it up with seasonal fall foods to bring a little excitement back to your plate.

Reevaluate your priorities. OK, so maybe you no longer have an upcoming swimsuit season or vacation to light a fire under your butt when it comes to losing weight. Write a journal entry or blog listing all the other reasons you have to take care of yourself. Here's a hint: They're not all about appearances. Your health, your family, your hobbies, and your ultimate life goals are all reasons to be in your best shape ever, too. This list will serve as motivation later when you need help staying on track.

Return to your goals. When did you last explore the goals you set a few months ago and assess how well you're taking steps toward reaching them? Now is a great time to look back, see how far you've come, and decide what you can do today to continue moving forward.

Rejuvenate your wardrobe. As you pack up your summer essentials and let oversized hoodies and bulky sweaters return to your closet, don't let your body get lost underneath them. Remember that stretchy, elasticized and oversized clothes can make it harder for you to grasp whether your weight has gone up or down. They can also allow you to hide your body underneath until next summer's arm- and leg-baring styles make a comeback. By sticking with well-fitted clothes (not too tight, not too big), you'll keep weight gain in check and also notice more easily when you do lose a few inches!

QOTD Wednesday, October 2, 2013: How will you recommit to your program this fall to get a jump on the holidays and keep your program fresh and exciting?

I will be back with my own answer and replies after I update our list. :goodvibes

Good morning! I haven't had time this morning to really read here, but I see that there are LOTS of suggestions and ideas for my October challenge question so.... THANK YOU!! Hopefully when my class heads to Music later this morning I will have about 30 minutes to catch up with you all here!

Beautiful weather week here.... almost BETTER than summer... warm, sunny, breezy and NO HUMIDITY! I plan to walk tonight, maybe before dinner, to soak up the last of this loveliness!!

Off to get ready for 2nd grade this morning and Kindergarten this afternoon! TTYL..............P

I am recommitting by tracking all my food and also having an exercise schedule in place. As cold weather moves in, I tend to quit running. I told DH last night that I need to sign up for some races while I still am in the zone and then I won't be able to quit. I really am not a cold weather girl, so I'm thinking of looking for races in December-March to keep me going. I am also experimenting with new, healthy recipes for fall/winter.

Just a quick check in before my first period class. Gotta run!

A few years ago, I hosted a 100 crunches & 100 pushups a day challenge. Maybe we could do something like that, but modified, perhaps to 50 and 50 or 100 of one or the other? Is anyone interested? If so, I'd be glad to host it.

Another great challenge idea! :thumbsup2

Truly the best thing I did for myself this year was to challenge myself to a mile a day everyday. I am still a little disappointed that I have not run them all (I have walked a bunch), but despite all the craziness around our house lately, I have kept it up. I have walked or run a mile in all four disney parks, with friends, family, in several states, around at least 4 of the wdw resorts. In my old neighborhood, in my new neighborhood, in at least 4 different parks in Louisville. It has kept me grounded. I can't even really explain what I have gotten from it. I even squeaked one out after my bad fall in July--though TigerLily volunteered to do it for me, which was awesome.:goodvibes

Anyhow, I strongly encourage mini daily challenges. It's not always easy, but it really is a huge feeling of accomplishment!

And now you are in the home stretch with your challenge! :thumbsup2

Glad the move and visit went okay and are now behind you just in time for the crazy holiday season. Hang in there! :hippie:

I love the support this board offers! I saw that we have 3 generations from one family and that is particularly touching to me. What a great commitment to make together! :) I cannot post often because I am usually sneaking in reading while supposed to be doing something else, but I enjoy so much reading each post by all the great people here.

Good luck to all this month - it is going to be the best one ever! :cool1:

I think a lot of us are sneaking peeks here when we should be doing other things. ;)

Throw me in the pumpkin boat :)
I love this season! My big pumpkin downfalls are pumpkin pie bagel from Panera, pumpkin spice coffee/latte, and pumpkin roll. I'm doing good so far, but will definitely splurge once in awhile!

I hope everyone is off to a good start today. I am finally home after work, a long walk with the dog, dinner, and soccer practice for DS10. Now I want to catch up on a couple DVR'd shows and cheer on the Buccos (Pittsburgh Pirates for you non-western PA people :))

Pamela-I would love to participate in a challenge a day. I loved when I did Jillian Michaels 30DS. I felt so accomplished crossing days off the calendar. For today I'll just count my 2.5 miles. If someone wants to decide & make it official, I'm in :)

Have a great night!

Jill

LOL! That pumpkin boat is pretty popular this month. :rotfl:

Hey Kimberley! I see you have a WDW trip coming up in 3 days, how long are you going to be there??
I'm headed down on the 10th.

I have an app on my phone. It's a 7 minute workout. 30 second cycles with 10 seconds of rest in between each one.

30 second jumping jacks
30 second wall sit
30 second push up
30 second ab crunches
30 second step ups
30 second squats
30 second tricep dip
30 second plank
30 second high knees
30 second lunges
30 second push up with rotation
30 second side plank

Wow! That is a heck of a workout! Looks like great cross-training for running. :cool2:

Hi everyone. I just joined as a 'loser'. This group seems very encouraging. Thought I would join!

I too am a pumpkin lover! I had coffee mate pumpkin spice cream this morning. Mmmmm

Sounds yummy! Those warm pumpkin drinks are particularly tasty now that our mornings are cooler.

I am breaking up my replies so I don't run afoul of the smilie police. ;)

That bootcamp sounds very intense but it has worked so well for you, Laura! I'm really impressed by how your hard work has paid off so well. :goodvibes Do check out Laura's pictures because they are very inspiring! :cool2:

A recital sounds very exciting, Linda! And a really good activity for the college application. :cool2:

That is tough to have those goodies in the house.

Is the canned pumpkin that you are using plain pumpkin or the pie filling? I was looking at a recipe that called for plain canned pumpkin and I don't think I've ever seen it. :confused3

And one night of indulgence won't derail you for the long haul. You did a lot of things right: you made a healthy choice, you didn't let them refill that fry basket, which they do at Red Robin, and you had a fun night with friends. :thumbsup2

QOTD Wednesday, October 2, 2013: How will you recommit to your program this fall to get a jump on the holidays and keep your program fresh and exciting?

My recommit lately ha been rejuvenate your wardrobe. Now that the weather has turned cooler I am finding that I need some updates for my fall and winter wardrobe. My go to ribbed turtlenecks are too big and have had to be retired. It's been a challenge to find something to replace them because we all know cowl necks are only going to be popular this year. :lmao:

Good morning! I haven't had time this morning to really read here, but I see that there are LOTS of suggestions and ideas for my October challenge question so.... THANK YOU!! Hopefully when my class heads to Music later this morning I will have about 30 minutes to catch up with you all here!

Look around and see if there is a Jingle Bell Run somewhere near you -- they are usually 5ks and are at night so people can see the Christmas lights. :santa: The local running group folks here swear by Yak Trax for when the snow flies. I myself am a fair weather runner and retreat to the indoor track. :sunny:

I think your fall plan will be a big success! :cool2:

I'm thinking about giving myself some sort of "October challenge".... maybe a particular exercise every day or trying some sort of new eating pattern (something that would fit within WW). I just feel like I need to try something new. Any suggestions? If it were a fitness thing I could still fit it in before I sleep tonight. It would be such a nice feeling to do something EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm playing with the idea of Rose's "mile-a-day" thing.... when I do exercise I usually do several miles, but lately the exercise has been SO LACKING that just committing to 1 mile EVERY DAY would be a step in the right direction. Or maybe something like the "plank-a-day" challenge I did this past March?

LOVE the idea! In the second and a half I have in the morning before work, I've been doing 20 crunches/25 squats/10 pushups. Good way to help wake up the bones! :cool1:

We are back from visiting DS and ready to get settled in our apartment at least until we figure out where we are going in our life adventure. Our house is officially closed, the mortgage paid off, and the new people have moved in. Still a little sad, but mostly ready to get organized! :)

Hope things calm down for you a little bit! :thumbsup2

Hey Kimberley! I see you have a WDW trip coming up in 3 days, how long are you going to be there??
I'm headed down on the 10th.

Hey Buffy! :wave2: It's just a quickie trip this time, 10/3-10/6. We're staying with friends who live nearby in Winter Garden and plan a trip up every year to see Sister Hazel. I'll be back again next month for the Wine and Dine Half and in January for the WDW Half Marathon.

Where in CT are you? SO don't miss the winters! :cool1:

QOTD Wednesday, October 2, 2013: How will you recommit to your program this fall to get a jump on the holidays and keep your program fresh and exciting?

With two half marathons coming up 8 weeks apart, I have a couple of great reasons for keeping those numbers on the scale within reason. Since I also decided to start weighing myself more often, I don't think I'll have much choice but to keep the food decisions under control just so I can keep my head on straight. It always amazes me how much a bad weigh-in can screw with my mental health for a day! :crazy2:

To go completely :offtopic: for a moment here, if anyone is interested to see what I'm doing for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, please PM me! :lovestruc

Wow! That is a heck of a workout! Looks like great cross-training for running. :cool2:

It's crazy!!! But it's 7 minutes, who doesn't have time for that??

Well crud, we'll just miss each other.

I'm out by the casinos. I hate winter, but the fall, especially this fall, really makes up for it.

I'm in as a loser in October.
Not sure how much I will lose though, I start training for the 1/2 in October.

GLad you are going to be a loser here with us.... and LET THE TRAINING COMMENCE!!

I'm in as well. Last month was a success so I'd like to keep the momentum going for my November cruise.

WOOHOO for MOMENTUM!!

awww Buffy!! I wish I was coming to walk with you! i'd love to meet you and chat!

Ohana -- a cruise!!

I'm in! I'm just starting up WW again, so it'll be nice to have another motivation :-)

Glad to have another WW here with us!!

I'll be in.

Haven't met a goal yet for August or September, but I HAVE lost, so that's a good thing. Will PM my weight on Oct.1 to lisah0711. Will be strange not to send it to Eliza!

It's all about keeping it going, so a loss IS a good thing!!

I would like to do this!!!

And we would love to have you with us!! WELCOME!!

As in every other month this year, you can count me in for October Lisa....and I'll be happy to take another go at being hostess, for March 2014 if you would like to add me. I was tempted by February, but am now going away for a week!.

Will PM my starting weight and goal tomorrow morning.

Of COURSE we can count on you! It wouldn't be the same without you!

Hi everyone! I am joining for October again. Seems like I had a decent enough September and hope to get the same result for October!

Lisa, I can take on December. I am moving house in November, so not sure whether I won't have a disruption of internet services. But by December that should be ok again. And hopefully hosting will help me stay on track through the dangerous holiday season! Even though I am afraid I am going to set myself up for a month of not a lot activity again like with the summer months... :confused3 It will be fun anyway! :goodvibes

Glad you are joining us and good luck with the move!!

Count me in for October! With the season of sweets fast approaching, I need to keep on track. My goal is getting closer, with some hard work maybe I can hit it by Halloween (fingers crossed!).

With a username like "sugarnspice" I shouldnt' be surprised that you mention the "season of sweets"!! :lmao: good luck reaching your goal by Halloween!!

Hey guys! Sorry I have been MIA :flower3: ... a lot going on over for sure. BUT we have set a date for our wedding and have begun reserving venues, I even found my gown. SO I am back! I have been working hard this month, and was successful the first 2 weeks in losing some of the weight I had gained back. Just trying really hard to get down one size before I finish paying off my gown and put in the final order! :hourglass is running out! Anyway, hope I can reserve a space here for Oct :thumbsup2 I'd also like to host next month :) Help keep me on track!

Congrats on finally setting a date! You will be a beautiful bride!!

I'm in again for October! While I was a bit quiet in September, I look forward to chatting more now that I "know" some of you. :)

Looking forward to getting to know you a bit more in October. :)

I'm in for October! I'm staying on in the loser camp, as I really want to get back to my official WW goal. As of Friday I was back in the WW maintenance range, but I haven't seen that goal number in a few months, so I'm setting my sights on it this month. :) And I suspect I might have nudged a bit above the maintenance range after a weekend away with my sister... Here goes!

XO
Liz

I have a small goal, but have been unsuccessful in achieving it! Hoping this helps out!:cool1:

And we are glad to welcome a newbie!!

Hi, Lisa! I am in for October and just PM'ed you my starting weight and goal.

Hi, everyone! I am Cam. I have been a WISHer since early 2005 right after my 4th heart surgery (which cured me of a potentially fatal condition that I'd suffered nearly 10 years). Once I got the clearance from my cardiology team, I started doing Walk Away the Pounds to lose weight and started training for my first-ever Half-Marathon, which was in January 2006 exactly a year and one day after that surgery. Since that time, I've done 2 full marathons, more than 10 half-marathons and other races of varying distances including more than 40 5Ks. I did a 5k yesterday and have the following races in my near future:
10/13 -1/2 marathon
11/9 - 1/2 marathon
11/28 - 5k
1/10 - 10K
1/11 - 1/2 marathon
2/23 - 1/2 marathon

I have done weight watchers off and on over the years, and have managed to keep off more than half of the 70 pounds I lost in 2005 and 2006, but a lot have crept back on. It is time to really crack down and move toward my ultimate weight loss goal and lifetime WW membership. My DH, Howard, and I are doing a 12 night Mediterranean Disney cruise next summer, and I know I will be much happier and will enjoy all the touring more if I can take off some considerable amount of weight.

I am happy to share this journey with all of you. I love seeing some familiar names and faces here!

Welcome back! You're face was truly missed here!! And happy to welcome yet another WW back to the flock!

Hi Lisa , thanks for hosting this month.. I am in with a 3 lb goal I fell a bit short of that goal in Sept but I'll just keep plugging along..

I am trying to following the Atkins plan due to having type 2 diabetes and having to give myself a shot for about 12 weeks - it was horrid so in Feb of 2013 I decided enough! during the first 12 or so weeks I'd lost 26 lbs but have slowly gained about half back so I am now on week 3 again but still struggle with the weekends - I want pizza and chinese and chips , so I am slowing figuring out some low carb almost taste like the same things. Haa.. I am soon to be (10/10) 43, I have been married to the Hubs for almost (11/30) 5 years who is almost 31 (11/23) and I have a DD who is turning 20 (11/18) and DS who is turning 17 (10/3) so as you can see I have alot of challenges coming up 4 birthdays, Thanksgiving and an anniversary..

I love the motivation and support all you ladies provide here.. Thanks ..

Lots of celebrations coming up!! My DH follows Atkins as well, so if you are looking for any suggestions or recipes, let me know.... I have a few!

**********

Caught up just a bit!! I'll keep plugging on it, but have to get the kids from music in 10 minutes.....P

QOTD Monday, September 30, 2013 and Tuesday, October 1, 2013: Please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your goals for the challenge and the rest of the year. You don't have to share numbers, it can be general.

Lisa, thanks for sharing YOUR story! It is truly inspiring!!

I am pjlla aka Pamela! After struggling with my weight all of my life to some degree or another (first time at WW I was 13 or 14), I finally got it to CLICK when I started WW (yet AGAIN) on 01/02/2008 in anticipation of a Disney trip. I didn't want to go back bigger than I had been the previous trip (before which I had dropped about 40 pounds and then regained 20).

Any how.... long story short, I went back to Disney in April 2008 at my lowest weight since my wedding year of 1992... and then stayed on track and finally hit my goal in 2009 and of course, have been working HARD to stay at my maintenance range ever since!!

I have a DD who is a college Freshman this fall and a DS who is a HS Sophomore. My life and schedule took a dramatic CHANGE this fall with DD leaving for school, as I am no longer driving anywhere from 2-4 hours every day to take her to swim (both club and high school) and no longer have every weekend in the fall and winter dedicated to swim meets. I finally have some ME time!! I miss my daughter like mad, but the more relaxed schedule is HEAVENLY!! I've been married to my DH for 21 years now! How did we get so old??? I live in the boondocks of NH. I've been a substitute teacher for 9 years now and started working for WW as a leader this past spring. It isn't the dream job that I hoped it would be, but I do enjoy it and LOVE inspiring others to meet their weight goals and dreams!!

I do NOT love to exercise and even though I started running a few years ago, I have STOPPED running because I was dreading it every single day. I do struggle to keep up with some sort of exercise routine.... now more than ever, since I am not forced to be at the Y for several hours every day!

I've been participating in this WISH board challenges since about 2008 and love, love, love them!!! I've met several friends IRL and would love to meet more!!

Time to pick up my students! I'll pop on again later and catch up a bit more I hope!...........P

Oh and add me to the list of crazy pumpkin people.
I avoided the Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks until this year. OMG!! What was I missing?!?!? DD and DS17 are hooked on them too.
And mom makes a homemade pumpkin pie that is to die for! Thankfully she only makes them twice a year!

Hi everyone, just here for a few mins to ask you all to think of me around 4:30pm EST today as I have to put my beloved cat Bandit down.. :( he is 16.5 yrs old (83 in human years) and while I think I've done my best by him it's tearing me apart that he has been getting sicker over the last 6ish month.. he has a large tumor on his left hind side and last night it started to ooze a bit. knowing that there isn't anything the vet can do we made the hard decision to let him go across the rainbow bridge and join our Beagle Copper.. I do feel badly for the hubs but at this moment I am having a HUGE all about me pity party because I've had Bandit for almost as long as my DS (who turns 17 tomorrow) I hate when people say cats are different then dogs when it comes to loyality, because Bandit wasn't like that all - he really wanted to always be right beside me or on top of me even.. he used to like to sleep right on my side (think of laying on your side with a cat right down your shoulder to your thigh!) he also still just follows me around and lays right under my feel every chance he gets . he was a human lover - well a me lover and has been right to the end..

Rest in Peace little Buddy - love all the years we had together and I will be soooo very lonely without you..

this one show just how much us Humans loved you..

QOTD Wednesday, October 2, 2013: How will you recommit to your program this fall to get a jump on the holidays and keep your program fresh and exciting?

Well I have a lot to be motivated by, what with the wedding and all. My bff (and maid of honor) and I are losing weight together, so we check in about how we are doing with staying on track with eating and meet up every weekend to hike. Loving it, especially now that the heat is not as oppressive as usual (even though we are still in the 90s here, it feels like fall!).

Is the canned pumpkin that you are using plain pumpkin or the pie filling? I was looking at a recipe that called for plain canned pumpkin and I don't think I've ever seen it. :confused3

Lisa OMG you have been missing out for sure! See a pic here:

I also sometimes buy the organic brand you see shown above the Libby's brand on that page.

I find it at all supermarkets, usually by the baking supplies, sometimes by the canned vegetables. So many recipes out there to utilize this can of golden goodness.

Oh and add me to the list of crazy pumpkin people.

Buffy I  these things so much. I did find a recipe for a homemade version which I enjoying (almost) equally as much and has FAR fewer calories, if you're interested!

So sorry for your loss. I also had to put my cat down in the spring and it was a very painful decision, but the best one I could make for him. RIP Bandit :grouphug:

Michelle, I am so, so sorry about your sweet kitty. They are our faithful companions and I know that you will have a hole in your heart today. It really sucks some days to be an adult and do the right thing. :grouphug: I will be thinking of you all today. :flower3:

Michelle - I am so sorry about your sweet Bandit. I hope it brings you comfort to know that he and Copper will soon be keeping each other company.

QOTD: I have really recommitted to WW this week. Starting this past Sunday, I have journaled every single bite I've taken. I had been journaling on etools on the WW website, but had gotten really lax. I think I need the physical journal in my pocketbook and on the island in my kitchen when I am home, reminding me to journal my foods and to check points-plus values before I eat something. I batch-cook on Sundays whenever I am in town, and instead of just putting all that food in the fridge and deciding day by day what to eat, I've planned my meals ahead of time. For right now, I've eaten the same breakfast and same lunch entrees each day this week. It really helps me to stay on track.

Next time you see me, ask me if I've journaled today. ;)
