WISH Away The Pounds ~ Marvelous May ~ All are WELCOME!

lisah0711;48275172 Which brings me to the QOTD. [COLOR="DarkOrange" said:
QOTD Thursday, May 2, 2013: Do you think tracking food is an important part of weight loss?
* Yes, definitely
* Maybe, it depends on the person
* No, I don't think it's necessary
[/COLOR]

In my case, I have to go with maybe. When I started WW last year, it helped me learn what proper portions should look like. ::yes:: Now that I've been doing it for so long now, I'm not as obsessed with the tracking as I used to be. I think sometimes that's part of the problem with losing these last few pounds.:confused3 However, knowing I can always come back to the DIS for encouragement and help, it definitely helps keep me on track, even if I go off the rails a little bit. Plus, knowing I have to record my weight every week, keeps me from going overboard, most of the time.:faint: A perfect example is yesterday afternoon, I needed a snack. Instead of making a bag of popcorn or eating peanut butter crackers, I kept it lower calorie with hummus and pita chips. I felt like I've been going off track the last few days, so I just kept the DIS in mind, and feel like I made a better choice because of it.:thumbsup2

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Rose-try to keep things in perspective and practice your yoga breathing. Nothing is such a big thing that it just cannot be overcome. You've completed a MARATHON for puppy's sake!:woohoo: If you can accomplish that, even as difficult as it was, then a little 500 mile trip should be cake!:goodvibes

One more day on the thread as the newbies keep coming!:cheer2: :welcome:

Happy Thursday friends! On my ride home from my uncle's funeral. It was a nice service and the Air Force honor guard was a nice touch (I never even knew he was in the service as a young man!).

Hard to eat well with the choices offered so I stuck mostly with salad, but now I'm hungry. Will eat when we get home about 7pm.

Well, I disappear for a day and the thread grows by 3 pages! Hopefully I'll be able to catch up tonight or in the morning. Gonna dash for now as the mobile wifi isn't real reliable and I don't want to write a big post and have it disappear............P

Happy Thursday to you, too, Pamela! Glad that the service was nice. :flower3:

QOTD for May 1-

So do I have a plan? Right now, plans are labeling reading, eating fruits and veggies everyday, and drinking water. Really need to think about that question.:scratchin

Big Motivational Goals- take a Zumba Class that I have on hold because of toe pain

Small Goals- wear my shorts & swimsuit with confidence

You're off to a good start! ::yes:: I hope the toe continues to improve! :flower3:

Okay, I'm finally back for good, at least until I move to Orlando in August!!

I need some serious motivation! Next week is finals week and then I'm home free and shouldn't have any major problems with working out and eating well.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Kayla, a junior in college. I've been on and off here a couple of years. Last spring I lost about 20lbs but put about 7lbs back on this year from stress and whatnot.

Anyway. I was wondering if you all could tell me what your calorie intakes are? Last spring I tried to keep it around 1200-1300 per day. Everything I've been reading lately is that with the way I exercise I need to eat around 1800-2000. I know that I can't eat that much because I gained weight eating around 2000. I'm just frustrated with the whole thing. Going back to 1500, even, has been really hard lately.

Anyway, I have my 3rd half marathon this month and I decided to ride my stationary bike for an hour most days of the week while I read or play video games. Other than that I'm still running and doing workout videos. I'm trying to stay on my feet at work and hopefully when the last cold snap comes through I can hang outside more. :goodvibes

QOTD:
Plan: Less carbs, more veggies and protein, ditch most of the chocolate. Plan meals ahead of time and don't give into temptations when I'm with friends.
Small goal: Drop the 7lbs I gained this year.
Large goal: Get in shape for the DCP in August, hopefully get some visible abs and drop an extra 10lbs.

:welcome: Kayla! So nice to see you! :flower3: Are you using MFP or something else to give you guidelines for calorie intake? I find the hunger created by training, especially as you get close to a race and have the longer distances, is disproportionate to the calories that you are actually burning. And your body seems to hold onto everything because it doesn't know what you are going to do to it next. :rotfl: It is really challenging to work through it. You might want to check out sparkpeople.com, too, and run things through their calculators. It is a process for sure!

Welcome!

I'm Rose. 45, married, one DS who graduates from college next week. I work part time as the admin for a non-profit. I have been doing these challenges since Jan of 10 and have made some lovely friends. I lost 50+ pounds in 2010 and have gained back some. Which is ok, but I am now about 5-7 pounds over where I feel most comfortable, so I continue to work to get back down a bit. I have really struggled with motivation this year. I have been dealing with chronic injuries, and still (even after 2 years) getting used to being g-f. It was a tough transition for me, but I am much healthier. I have completed one marathon, 9 half marathons, 3 10ks, and some shorter races. :)

I have been thinking about one of the questions from last month a bunch as I get ready to go to DS's graduation. He is at school 500 miles away. Anyhow, can't remember the exact question, but it had something to do with getting nervous or anxious. I am already getting anxious about next week--and we literally don't even leave for a week. And it's effecting my food intake, my stress levels, probably even how much my back is hurting.

Anyhow, just throwing that out there. Definitely need to think a little bit more about how this kind of stuff is holding me back from reaching my goals.

A college graduation is exciting, Rose, and it's a rite of passage for the graduate and his parents. Those transition times can be stressful for all of you. Hang in there! :goodvibes

News Alert :
Stormy was just eating dry food! I didn't even know he ate canned food...

I'm sure your little kitties learn lots of things quickly from the other kitties. ::yes::

Hi, all - I pm'ed my goal - 10 lbs (I have a lot to go!). I'm Sunny - momma to three awesome kids, and wife. I am also a high school teacher. We are planning our third Disney World trip in August - the first with my baby girl! So excited...

I am hoping to really kick myself in the butt and get started. I'm so angry with myself for wasting so much time being too heavy. Hopefully the support will help. :)

I'm going to use my Weight Watchers app to track my food and I'm going to start walking. Here I go!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. It means so much.

Sounds like you have a great plan for a great start! :thumbsup2 We all make mistakes and have to forgive ourselves, forget and move on. You can do this! :goodvibes:

Hi! I'm Carrie. I'm more or less a single parent (dh is at work long hours) I'm an ESL teacher in a French community in Canada. I've been at this same weight forever! It's my reset weight that come back to all the time! I have 80 pounds of extra honey in my pooh tummy :) last year I trained to run a half marathon and didn't lose any weight. I completed my practise run (11mes) but didn't run the actual half because I broke my ankle the day before. My goal is to get my eating under control and simply get outside for 45 minutes a day to play with my kids. I want them to be a give and if I'm outside I'm not snacking!!

:welcome: Carrie! Wow, how frustrating to get injured the day before a race you worked so hard to train for. Here's to a happy, healthier you this summer!

Sometimes I think my scale knows when it's the end of the month or Friday weigh in day! I plateaued for over a week, and ended April 0.5 lb above my goal. This morning I was a pound below that goal. Of COURSE ;) glad to see the scale move but would have liked it mow yesterday LOL! 5 pound goal this month!

LOL that happens to me, too. :rotfl: Usually my scale moves where it should the day after weigh in. It is frustrating but as long as the number continues to go down it's a-okay.

Good Thursday morning everyone.

I will be putting everything on the front page this afternoon. I had no time yesterday.

Spring has finally come to nj and we had to do our first lawn mowing of the season. My dh does 3 lawns. I help with him 2. His sister is disabled so we do her and his dad is 89 and we do his. We did his sister's yesterday and then stopped for dinner. We stopped at his dad's on the way home and almost died when we saw how crappy his dad's front lawn looked. Looks like we may have to go back on Friday.

This weekend will be crazy helping ds1 move into his new apartment. I have quilt I want to finish but it looks like it won't get done. I hope it does I want to deliver it when I see my folks next week.

I finished mowing yesterday and when we stopped for dinner I got out of the truck and my knee buckled. The one with the torn meniscus that had been pretty stable for the last year and a half. I hope it isn't going to start bothering me. I am not losing this summer to knee surgery.

Off for breakfast

Have a happy and healthy day.

You are so nice to help everyone, Dona. Thank you for helping us and being our hostess, too. :flower3: Bummer about the knee. Hope it was just a passing thing and you can have the summer that you want. pixiedust:

QOTD: For me tracking is essential. When I am track and pay meticulous attention I have a good week. When I am sloppy, not so much. One of the reasons I have been able to keep the weight off this time, even with my slow losing pace, is that I have a better understanding of how little you burn, even when you are working out for a long time or doing something very strenuous. It's not that hard and it doesn't take that long and the benefits are so worth the effort to me. The important thing is to figure out what works for you! :goodvibes

A friendly reminder to PM your starting weight and goal to donac if you have not already. Our next weigh in will not be until next Friday, May 10th since we just got started.

:goodvibes Thanks! And thank you to Lisa too.
The road trip is the easy part. It's dealing with all the parents and the crowds, etc. And not being able to eat what everyone else is eating. And even after all this time, just feeling, for lack of a better word, inadequate. Obviously I have some issues.;) DS has 4 roommates who are all great. Three are graduating. So instead of going out to dinner, they are having a cookout. They are expecting over 40 people. I don't know why this is stressing me out so much. I know some people would say what's the problem, just buck up. I'm sure it will all be fine. :goodvibes

***
QOTD--I think tracking is important, but I am really bad at it. On the days where I enter everything I work very hard to stay in my range, and I always seem to learn something interesting.

Ran this morning and now it's time for work. Have a great Thursday!:goodvibes

Happy Thursday everyone!

I will take a minute to chat here and then try to catch up a bit, but I've got a lot on my schedule for today, so I don't have much time.

Today's exercise will be raking, seeding, weeding, edging, mulching. Sounds like fun, right???:rotfl:

Today's breakfast was yummy, yummy low carb flaxseed pancakes with some all-natural blueberry spread! It was delicious! I think the recipe is over on the recipe thread, but if not I'll try to find the time to post it later!

Which reminds me..... I think I promised someone a PM with some low carb recipes and I totally dropped the ball!! Who is waiting for that??

Off to read and reply.... and then :laundy: ......................P

Soooooo much to catch up on, so many new friends and returning friends to greet, but no time right now. I'll do the QOTD to catch up with that and return later today to do read and replies!

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 4/30/13: Please introduce yourself, if you haven't already.

My name is Pamela, I'm (in BAMB's words) a "never-at-home" Mom, part-time substitute teacher, and now WW leader!! I've been married for almost 21 years and have a 17 y/o soon-to-be high school graduate daughter, and a 15 y/o freshman son, both of whom keep me busy with their activities (swimming, robotics, theater). I live in rural NH and drive approximately 100 miles per day between school, swim practice, etc.

In addition to my WW lifestyle, I have a DH who has been a faithful follower of the Atkins plan for 2.5 years now, a DS with food allergies, and a DD who is a dedicated non-pesctarian, so cooking at my house is a definite challenge!

I started my healthier lifestyle journal in EARNEST again on 01/02/2008 and haven't looked back. Overall I lost 86 pounds (depending on what the scale says that week ;) ) and have kept it off since 2009. Was it easy??? No! Did I struggle (and still struggle occasionally)?? You bet! But was it worth it?? WITHOUT A DOUBT!!

Not only have I taken off the weight, I've learned so much about eating for LIFE and HEALTH, not just for weight loss. I think my entire family has benefited greatly and I am proud that I was able to lead by example.

I find these challenges SO ENCOURAGING, FRIENDLY, and INSPIRING! This group (even as it has changed and morphed over the years) had been an amazing source of support for me EVERY DAY! I have lost count of how many challenges I've been a part of!!

WOOHOO!!!!!
DS16 ran a mile in 5:05!!! New personal record!

AMAZING!! I told DD when I saw this yesterday and she offered a ":cheer2:" for your DS!!

I'm walking right down the middle of Main Street USA-a-a . . . it's the heart of America, the heartbeat of a holiday-ay-ay-ay! The place was made with a magical plan . . .

Okay.... it is totally your fault that this song was in my head the ENTIRE DAY yesterday!!! When I substitute in elementary music, I frequently show a Disney Sing-along video that includes this song.... I LOVE IT!:thumbsup2

QOTD May 1, 2013: So do you have a plan for how you are going to make your goals for the challenge? Share your plan and your goals big and small for this challenge.

Let's get this party started! party:party:party:

I plan on dropping my carbs and upping my protein this month to try and hit the lower part of my maintenance range by the end of the month. My plan is to lose 3 pounds this month. It may not seem like much, but at this point in my journey it is a struggle to lose much of anything, so rest assured, I will have to work HARD for that 3 to disappear!

I did well when I was limiting my carbs more over the past year, unfortunately slowly but surely more white carbs crept their way back in and it definitely shows on the scale.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a FASTPASS to help you with your weight loss?

QOTD Thursday, May 2, 2013: Do you think tracking food is an important part of weight loss?
* Yes, definitely
* Maybe, it depends on the person
* No, I don't think it's necessary

YES, DEFINITELY!!! Anyone who tells me that they are struggling, that is often the first question I ask. ARE YOU TRACKING YOUR FOOD????? As most of you know, I am a faithful food tracker and have 5+ years of paper food journals to prove it. Sure, I miss a day here or there when things get crazy (mostly when I am away from home), but overall I track virtually everything!

***************************

Okay friends..... off to hang laundry and get raking! I'll pop on again at lunch time if I can.................P

QOTD-
I was really surprised when I started tracking my food/calories a few weeks ago. I thought I ate reasonably well, but the snacking was killing me! I don't really track anymore, but I eat "within my parameters" as Lindsay Brin likes to say - no BLT's - bites, licks and tastes. I have 3 meals and 1-2 snacks a day - but they are carefully chosen. Luckily I'm a creture of habit so I eat the same thing for breakfast everyday, the same container of celery and hummus for afternoon snack, etc. So it's easy to know I'm eating within my limits. So yes I track, but no I don't feel I need to do it every day.

Yesterday we FINALLY had nice weather after the long winter! :worship: So even though I did a long workout in the morning I went for a short 30 minute run in the evening too. Upper body for 30 mintues this morning and ballet tonight. A couple more workout mornings before I get lazy for a few days and go to Chicago with DH! Luckily it lands right in my "rest" week for this 9 week plan that I'm doing, so I'm not missing much.

Let's continue our journeys to the Happiest Place on Earth. :smickey:

fastpass-400.jpg

We DISboards planning types know understanding the ins and outs of FASTPASS is a great way to help you get the most out of a trip to Disney and take in lots of attractions while other people are stuck waiting in line.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a FASTPASS to help you with your weight loss?

What if I told you there was something that you could do to help you lose TWICE as much weight than you would otherwise?!? Would you be interested? Would you be willing to try it? Well, you can! And all you have to do is keep a food diary! :thumbsup2

A 2008 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine found that dieters who tracked their food intake in a "food diary" lost twice as much weight as those who didn't track their food. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/07/080708080738.htm

It is incredibly easy to underestimate the number of calories that you consume and overestimate the number of calories you burn when exercising. It is a real eye opener when you first start tracking. :scared1:

Here is a link to an article on sparkpeople.com about how important keeping track of your food can be on this journey to good health. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=394

Which brings me to the QOTD.

QOTD Thursday, May 2, 2013: Do you think tracking food is an important part of weight loss?

Have a great day! ::MickeyMo

for me it's a YES, I LOVE TRACKING! When I did WW (a few hundred times) I kept my journal faithfully and now that I am doing Atkins I am still using the WW journals (which I have to go get a new one this weekend) to keep track of my carbs same like points.. It's easier for me to "behave" if I only have xx number of carbs to spend per day - like regular yogurt vs. my dannon low carb yogurt.. but my mom who joined WW with me she hated the journaling.. so it's def personal !

good morning I think it might be me waiting on those.. but no worries or hurries :)

so, i need suggestions on strategies when i've had a good day for burning calories, but leaves my feeling like i need to graze after dinner b/c i'm feeling empty!? i know that empty feeling is good, that means my body has to dip into the stored fat ...but apparently i need a kick in the rear to stay on track when that happens!! UGH!!

Try starting with a glass of water or a tea. That might be enough to take away the need to graze. If that fails, I like a couple of spoonfuls of low/no fat Greek yogurt - helps me feel more full than regular yogurt.

I'm interested to hear other people's suggestions too!

The quotes are back, the quotes are back!!!!!!!:cool1:

May is going to be hard for me. I am away for 3 seperate days at business events that will see me leaving home at 5:30am, and not getting back until 9:30pm. Food will be a problem as each event has a sit-down lunch.

Once those are all out of the way, on 31st May I go to my union conference for a week..........like I said, it's going to be tough!

Planning what I'm going to eat is key for me...at home I do a weekly food planner and pretty much stick to it, so I need to work these business trips into it so that I stay on track.

I also want to keep up the walking, I walked home from work again last night, and then walked to slimming class tonight...just under 5 miles in 2 days.

Tonight was a success, got slimmer of the week again, and got my official 2.5 stone award (35lb). Well happy generally. Now if only it wasn't TOM, I'd be ecstatic!!!:rotfl:

WOOHOO on getting "SLIMMER" of the week again AND your award! ROUND OF APPLAUSE!!!:goodvibes

You can do it with those business lunches! Just plan your other meals for the day, eat a good breakfast so you aren't starving, do the best you can with lunch, and a light dinner if you need to account for extra lunch calories. Be sure to have an apple, orange, banana, or whatever healthy food you can with you in your bag. Bring along a tiny insulated lunch sack with an ice pack and you can bring something to keep away the hungry monster! Light string cheese, non-fat yogurt, water, etc.

Okay, I'm finally back for good, at least until I move to Orlando in August!!

Oh my! Take care of that knee.... especially while moving boxes and stuff this weekend. Maybe you will just need to be the "boss" and not the "moving man". :rotfl:

Now as far as myself, went to the pedorthist yesterday (person that fits you with proper shoes, orthotics, etc.) and big reveal here...I AM A WIDE SHOE.:headache: So I am 48 and just now found this out. This explains a lot.

My orthotics are not right either that I got from the podiatrist. I am not happy right now with that. I put in a call to the doctor. We will see.

Basically I got a "dress shoe type orthotics" and not a "full orthotics". I put in a call to question why she would have that made because I came in there with TOE PAIN. Grrrr...

Hopefully they tell me they will fix it otherwise, I will not be a happy camper with them.

OK, enough of my griping. ;)

Happy Thursday everyone.

Fingers crossed that this new person will help you get the corrections that you need!

good morning LOSERS!!

flyby -- i got called to work today, i work 'per diem' (contingent) as an x-ray tech in a small doctors office. it's a great job for me; the hours were cut a few months back so it's short days. so i'm able to handle a "full" day now, which makes me feel good :teeth:

anyhow, i kinda blew yesterday! and i'm mad at myself. i did too much yard work and overdid it and didn't have the energy to do my just dance. which i know the yard work i burned lots of calories, but i feel like i missed my 'exercise'. and then after i logged my food diary for the day...i snacked!! what??!! that is not the point!!

so, i need suggestions on strategies when i've had a good day for burning calories, but leaves my feeling like i need to graze after dinner b/c i'm feeling empty!? i know that empty feeling is good, that means my body has to dip into the stored fat ...but apparently i need a kick in the rear to stay on track when that happens!! UGH!!

QOTD -- YES!!!! food diarys are extrememly important to me! but i must make myself be honest in them too! i allow my MFP to view my diary so that it helps me make good decisions, but some days i want to sneak in a snack and sabotage myself!

If you have TRUE physical hunger signs when you have this "empty" feeling, then you probably really need food (growling tummy, light-headed, low blood sugar feeling). If it is more a "brain" feeling, then maybe a drink (especially a hot one) can help you get past it.

I realized I did not add a goal for this month so 3.5 lost and NOT found for the month of May!

AMEN!! :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone! I would love to join again in May. April wasn't my best attempt so I am rededicating myself to improving my health!! :cheer2:

We are so happy to have you back with us for May!

Hi! Can I join you guys? I've been on DIS for a while but only recently started exploring this secton as I debate taking part in my first Princess half marathon in 2014! I only started running last year - after swearing all my life that I hate to run - and now I actually enjoy it! I am afair weather runner though, so afte ra LONG cold winter inside, I am heaidng back out again!

A little bit about me - I am 35, married to my high school sweetheart with two hockey-obsessed boys age 9 and 6. After a bit of weight gain early 2012 I decided to up my exercise routine and have been doing something 6-7 times a week since last April. Unfortunately, I wasn't seeing any results on the scale. :confused3 As a bit more background, my husband is a shift worker so going to the gym doesn't work for my shcedule. I work out early in the morning at home to a variety of work out videos and/or run or do the elliptical. My motivation - a 12 night Disney Med cruise in June folowed by 4 nights in Paris - and I plan on EATING!

So I decided to up the ante and after enjoying one Lindsay Brin Moms Into Fitness video, I bought her Pretty Fierce Lean Out series. It's a 9 week program and there is SO much variety. I have seen it compared to Insanity without the time crazy time commitment every day! I also made a real effort with my eating habits - which I didn't think were too bad but... So 2 1/2 weeks into my DVDs and 4 weeks in to eating healthier, I am finally down 8 pounds. Only 6 more weeks until my trip so here goes! Of course, DH and I are off for a romantic getaway this weekend, so that might throw a wrench in things...

SO glad to have a new friend to visit with here! WELCOME!

I'm in, too!

I hope you don't mind my joining you this month. I set my goal at a lofty 8, so I kind of feel like I should go back and revise. I forgot that May is only 31 days long. However, it's the end of the school year, and maybe that will be the swift kick in the pants that I need! :cool1:

I'm Ashley, and I'm a 2nd grade teacher in Minnesota. I am training for two events, a marathon relay (I'm responsible for 11.5 miles - June 2) and the MS150 bike ride, which goes from Duluth, MN to the Twin Cities (June 8-9).

I know both events will be easier if I don't have those eight pounds to lug around!

Here's hoping that I can be a good cheerleader for all of you, and maybe I'll learn something along the way, too!

Happy May! (It's snowing here)

Welcome, welcome, welcome to yet another new friend.... and another teacher! I think that might make 5 teachers (or 6 if you let me count myself, but I'm just a sub).

Okay... getting caught up!...............P

Ow!

* Yes, definitely
* Maybe, it depends on the person
* No, I don't think it's necessary

Have a great day! ::MickeyMo

I usually avoid it until I feel my eating is getting out of hand again. It's just so time consuming. I use MFP which is great, but like today I need to get to they gym early before work, and I want to have time to eat and ride my bike to work too. I had a veggie and turkey sausage omelet thingy I'd have to look up the cals for and a piece of toast that is a weird rye bread combo that husband picked up-- I'd have to look that up too. I might catch up later tonight.

I need help with that too--I get the urge to eat more on days I burn a lot of calories and generally I indulge. I try to limit quantity but that just makes me get more of something else lol. Make sure you're getting enough protein and veggies and fruits really do help with the late night stuff. Yes an orange isn't as exciting as crackers and cheese but maybe have an orange before the crackers and you may stop the constant urge. Being nice to yourself is extrememly important too when dieting because you feel so deprived. Food is comfort--fun and being hungry kind of sucks so you need to sort of coddle yourself. I know it's an alien idea for most of us but we have to try.

Gotta run. I downloaded some Dyer yesterday and I think it did me some good, especially relating to the daughter. There was one on emotional health, 100 motivational ideas, some other stuff. I'll listen to the segments again today-- it was kind of perfect ending as I was stretching and black eyed peas kicked in-- awesome.

:wave2: Hi everyone! QOTD: I never got to go on that :(.
My name is Jessica and I am going to be 29 next month. My hope is to get to goal by the time i turn 30. I am married to my DH and we have been married for almost 4 years. I currently work in a bank as a supervisor while my husband is a full time student. It makes it very tough at times, which does not help with the weight loss. I have been doing the challenges for about a year, and have found some great success and support from all of you. I am looking forward to an outstanding May and getting to know all of you.

Welcome to you!! Glad to have you with us!

:wave2::wave2: hello fellow WISHEers!!!

can i play?

Hi, I'm Molli :flower3:

i actually just popped on the DIS to go to the scrapbooking forum and report that i met my Apr goal ...and  i should be making WISH goals too!!! what's a matter with me!!

and i see some faces here that i recognize and miss you all! and i'm looking forward to meeting up with the new-to-me faces too!

We are cruising on the Fantasy in July, actually 3 days at the parks prior too..and i really really really want to be 15 lbs thinner. well i REALLY want to be 45 lb thinner..but that's not realistic! I have been struggling with health problems since July 2010 and (forgive the repeat if you've heard this) and after 4 major surgeries in 16 months, leaving me permanently steroid dependent and replacing other hormones I didn't even know i had....i truly do beileve i've turned the corner and can begin LIVING LIFE again!! sadly, the disease I had (Cushing's) added 50 lbs to my body as i overproduced the bodies natural steroid, cortisol. Now I control my levels with meds, and i'm still in the balancing phase. so the weight is not falling off...but i need accountability to keep exercising and journaling!

I also have two DDs...one in college and one that's a sophmore! i sense a theme....

:thanks: to all those who stepped up to coach!! it's a big deal and these gals are giving alot of their time to do so!! you ROCK!! :rockband:

what's a moving buddy? do i need one of these? :teeth:

i already forgot the joining directions, so i'm back to the start and will PM my goal, or whatever the official joining action is :goodvibes

Cruise sounds so exciting!!! Glad to hear you are getting your health issues under control.

Hi. My name is Susan and I'm 45. Still haven't found the magical potion to help me lose any weight but as long as I'm watching Dr. Oz I am sure I'll keep trying...

When you find it, please share it with me!!:lmao:

To sum me up-- crazy cat lady, married 20 some odd years, worked for Albertsons for also 20 some years. Always boy crazy and a fiend for a bargain. I'm always a friend to animals and very interested in health issues. Disney fanatic and lifelong Bowie fan. Just trying to make it through every day, and if I occasionally come out ahead I count myself fortunate.

Well-- I better go work out if I'm going to do it at all...TTFN

I was a HUGE Bowie fan in college!

Her guys... I'm Jen and I am actually going to the happiest place on earth in 10 hours!!!
Im married with 3 kids...
My fitness goals were sidetracked in Dec when I fell and shattered my wrist. Still in therapy and have only regained about 20% functioning my wrist and hand :(
Am meeting with a training once we get back from vacation to see what exercises we can modify to get me back on track!
My goal at this point is to not put on any weight while on vacation

Thinking of you while you are there! Hope it is going wonderfully!!

****************

Okay.... I"m feeling pretty caught up now. I have 12 minutes to finish my "lunch hour" and head back outside. :lmao: I was PRAYING that I would be able to finish the lawn raking this week before the black flies started coming out, but it appears I was too late.... they have found me! Not too bad yet, thank goodness.

I'll work outside about one more hour, head in at 2pm for a shower and then head out to pick up the kids at school and drive straight to the Y for tonight's practice. DD already warned me that she will be getting out early because of homework, so I will dash for a few groceries while she swims, and then head home for dinner, laundry, etc. For some reason I haven't been called to work yet this week, but I'm thinking that will change tomorrow, so I'll lay out some clothes to be ready. If I don't head to work, I'll be back in the yard!

Off to enjoy my veggie burger and a bit of Pinterest for my last few minutes!..........P

I'm Melissa. I'm a mostly SAHM of two busy boys. Part time afternoon oncology RN. I've lost about 40lb since I had my last son and would like to lose 30-40 more. I took up jogging last summer and fell in love with 5Ks. Lost my motivation over the cold winter but need to get back at it strong. I did really well in the April challenge losing about 7 pounds. I am hoping to participate more in this challenge and the exercise challenge.

QOTD?

Well here is the thing...I kind of "know-sort of" how many calories food has already. So I suppose I track it unconsciously.

Also when I was tracking it at the end of last month, I ate more because I would look at my calories and then eat up to it and sometimes past it. Stupid, I know, but at least for now I have to do my new "method".

I have found that tracking saturated fat is a much better method for me. Partly because that is where my unhealthy eating is and where I need to work the most at. I am also eating for health and not just weight loss.

As long as you are tracking something and paying attention to what you are eating, I think it is all good.:thumbsup2

BAMB -- i  that quote!

:welcome: to our new joiners!!

ok i just wanted to read and remind myself this is why i'm done eating today :teeth: got my workout in too for the day. at work today i was deleting old emails and came across that one employee discount we get is 20% off with Jenny Craig. i have never done JC before, anyone here? i may look into it for a 3 month period ....

I'd like to join! My long term goal is 50 pounds and I'd like to set a goal of 5 pounds for the month of May.

I'm 33 and DH and I will celebrate our 10 year anniversary at the end of the month. We have two girls, ages 3 and 7. I just graduated from nursing school in December and put on more weight than I would have liked. Now I actually have time to cook right and exercise and I'm highly motivated!

I'd like to start by cutting out soda and exercising 4 days a week. I work 3 12 hour shifts as an ER nurse, so those 3 days I will not be following a formal exercise plan. I'd like to join the YMCA again, but DH keeps putting me off while we try and build up our savings again. I think he will come around soon. For now I plan to walk/run/jog around the neighborhood. I'd love to LOVE to run and be the kind who runs marathons. Not sure if that will happen.....

So I hope I can join y'all and I look forward to reading more!

Grrrrrr....the poof fairy got me yesterday! And my post was so fun & witty :)

Well, I just worked out because after school we had an orthodontist appt, had to pick up cupcakes for DS9s birthday treat for school tomorrow, soccer pictures, and soccer practice. I'll have to check back in tomorrow & catch up with the QOTDs and all the new faces. I'm so excited to dive into May!

Jill

I have been so busy getting ready for the tournament this weekend, and as usual all my plans for cleaning & getting all packed up before midnight on the morning we leave...... Well you know the rest. Lol. So now I am off to vacuum the upstairs and might get to bed around 2:30!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend & I will check in later! :)

Ooops, nearly missed QOTD for Thursday............

I keep a food diary at all times, otherwise I kid myself, I also like to be able to look back and see what I've cooked when I'm in a bit of a rut...I tent to get stuck in a bolognase/chilli cycle all to easily and forget that there are masses of other things out there to eat!!!

Meeting an ex colleague for lunch today which will be nice, we meet about once every 3-4 months. She struggles with her weight now (she's a bit too fond of a glass or 2 of red!) so we always go somewhere where they do health choices. I'll write in all in my diary later like I always do.

I'm wearing my skinny jeans today, so will see if I get any comments!!!

Grrrr, the poof fairy just got me too!!!

QOTD Thursday.....yes I keep a food diary, it not only helps me keep on track daily, but gives me inspiration for food ideas when I get myself stuck in the bolognaise/chilli cycle!!!

I'm meeting an old friend for lunch today which will be lovely. I'll be back later to see what you're all up to. It's a holiday weekend here in the UK, so no work 'til Tuesday....yippee!!!!!
