I wish that I could bring a case
Well u can.
I would think it is not about bring on the ship it is about being over weight for the airplane!
Exactly... I am trying to limit our luggage to 4 carry-ons and 1 big luggage for the stuff which we purchase along our trip.
Since we are traveling from SFO with a stop-over in Newark, NJ then onto Barcelona, I don't want the airlines to lose our luggage.
On our last MedCruise '10, several of our disboarders had their luggage lost. One magically appeared right before we left the port. The others had their luggage delivered at the next port.
But, just to reduce the amount of 3rd party errors
My DD10 wants to bring everything but the kitchen sink
This is our current challenge.
This is why we're willing to drive 5 hours to ATL to have a non-stop flight rather than flying from home to ATL to BCN - we figure if we at least have our luggage checked in at ATL in plenty of time, then there is less of a chance of it getting left behind. I've had where my luggage has gone without me and been waiting for me when I arrived yet I had to spend the night in the connection city. Miserable.
We have a detailed packing list and going to try to lay everything out and take 50% of the clothing out. We realized that we packed WAY too much the last MedCruise. I am contemplating whether to have our formal outfits shipped via USPS International Priority Mail/Express Mail.Do you guys have a general packing list that you use for cruising or do you make a new one each time? Do you plan "outfits" for each day or do you just count how many pairs of pants, shirts, skirts, etc. to bring and sort it out when you get there? I've done it both ways which have worked fine, usually making sure that I have whatever I need for ports that might have specific dress requirements (like covered knees, etc.). I have an app I was thinking about using but will likely end up just making an Excel file.
I will have to go over the packing list again with my DD10. She loves to match her clothing. My DD13 is more into comfort than matching. Total opposite
DD10 loves the 80's and loves to dress in neon colors (yellow, teal, orange). DD13 is a swimmer and loves to wear tank tops, t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops. She has grown so rapidly that I need to wait a couple more weeks until I buy her another pair of walking shoes.
Seems like the Roll Call spreadsheet is locked, so can someone who has the permission to change information on the spreadsheet add our cabin number to it?
We were GTY, we are now in Cabin 2546.
Thank you,
Pete & Faith

ahhhhhhhhh packing! I want to bring the kitchen sink too hubby on the other hand would like to bring a carryon that would fit under the seat, so we must compromise we've never been to the med so really not sure what to expect weather wise so i'm kind of lost as to what kind of clothes to pack. wanting to bring one large bag (duffle style) for each of us and one carry on. planning on one change of underclothes in the carryon just in case luggage takes a detour have started stashing items that I want to make sure I remember to pack in a plastic tote, but not many clothes in there yet!!!! LOL!
see ya, marianne
We brought 3 changes of undies last Med cruise each in carry on and soooooo glad we did. I would say bring at least 2
This sounds crazy, but bring a compact umbrella. We were in LaSpezia 3 years ago and it started raining. We purchased an umbrella from the street vendor. It broke after a couple of hours.
Wow! Did it rain. When we returned to the boat around 3 p.m., the water was so choppy. Then, it progressively became worse by 7 p.m. There were 4 tender boats that had to circle around to try to get some "stability". The water was extremely choppy that it started to make the boat rock. My DH became seasick and had to get some Dramamine. Then, half of our late-seating crew were late.
Sorry to break off in a tangent, but bring some motion sickness medication. Take some before you get on the boat.
My DH sails alot on the San Francisco Bay and off the coast of Santa Cruz. He doesn't get motion sickness, but the time in LaSpezia... he became sick to his stomach.
As for the rest of our family, I always made sure that we took Dramamine. I just wanted to make our cruise experience happy.
We always have bonine and umbrellas. DH bought us all good umbrellas for our Alaska cruise and we take them everywhere. A foldable raincoat is good to have as well
Has anyone received there luggage tags yet? I am waiting for ours to show up.
We are very excited we leave 6 June. We are flying into Liondon, then taking the train to Paris, then taking train to Barcelona. I am ready to see London again and looking forward to Paris and Barcelona. Staying in London for 5 days, Paris 3 days, Barcelona 1 day prior to cruise and then 2 days after. Can't wait!
