What else to say to the characters???

We were at Chef Mickey's and my son was just 4. He was trying to show mickey a cut he had received that just happened to be on his middle finger. Well Mickey couldn't hear what he was saying as he held up his hurt finger. Mickey just gave a shame shame jesture and shook his head. I went over to Mickey and explained, no, he is trying to show you his cut on his finger. Well Mickey was laughing so hard that he/she actually broke character and had to run into the kitchen. about 4 min later he returned and kissed my son's boo-boo. He laughed at our table the rest of the time. It was so funny!!!!!

We were at the Living Seas one day and it was early, not a lot of people around. Well, as we were exiting a group of about 6 characters, well, I would not say characters they were dressed up as CORAL, (Not the Coral from Finding Nemo, but Coral you would find on the ocean floor.) Well, they were returning from the Finding Nemo display and had just walked past us. They were heading behind the scenes and I made the comment to my mom joking around, "What do you do for a living?" "I'm coral!" Well, he, it, she heard me and spun around, put it's hand on it's side and started to tap it's foot like it was annnoyed. We busted out laughing! I had to go over and give it a hug. It was so funny.
We were joking around because I have a cousin who was doing a Disney internship at that time and let me tell you there are some weird jobs out there!

Just like Shane on the Jungle Cruise says, "After 4 years of high school and a bachlors degree, you too can be a Jungle Boat Skipper!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

I HAVEN'T LAUGHED SO HARD IN A LOOOOONG TIME!!!

The characters definitely do take cues from the guests! I make it quiet certain that I love the character interaction (since I'm 20, almost 21!)! By asking them questions, flirting with them (especially Goofy) and commenting on info I know about them and their movies! A couple weeks ago I got some great pictures and interaction at Cape May Cafe from all the characters there! :) I can't wait to go back to WDW in May! :) :)

For the person who didn't know: The jester from Hunchback is Clopin.

My grandson snuck up behind and pulled Dale's tail once. That was hysterical.

Ask Mary Poppins to say "the word" with your child. Or ask her to say it backwards. She spent a lot of time with my granddaughter doing that one.

Tell the Mad Hatter it's your Unbirthday.

Meeko signed an autograph book over Chip's name at the LTT, so when Chip came around again, we showed him. He went over and got Meeko. He also wrote him a note in the book. "Meeko, don't write over this!!!!!"

Scratch Pluto behind the ear.

Ask Minnie how many dresses she has. Try to ask her in front of Mickey, or when a CM is around to talk about it.

Tell Chip and Dale you have nuts in your backpack.

Offer Stitch a cookie. Or wear something with Stitch on it that he can take, like a backpack.

Call Hook an old codfish.

Wear a costume during one of the parades. Especially effective if you are an adult. I was wearing my Fairy Godmother costume twice during the snow globe parade. The first time the characters - especially around the princess float - came over to see me. The Prince was waving, saw me, turned and tapped Cinderella on the shoulder, nodded towards me and then she saw me and waved. Suzy and Perla ran over and hugged me. Many characters bowed. The second time, Brer Bear came over to get me and took me out to dance in front of the float. And the villains just stared me down. I told Cruella that I know she's good inside, and told Jafar if he wasn't nicer I would turn him into a horse for Cinderella's coach. Got a lot of reaction.

Great ideas! :sunny:

At the Crystal Palace:

To Eeyore: "Thanks for noticing us, Eeyore" in an Eeyore voice

To Tigger as he was about to leave our table: "TTFN -- Ta-Ta For Now"

To Pooh: "Where's the hunny? I have a rumbly in my tumbly"

A side note, we were one of the last families left from breakfast and before the first seating for lunch. Pooh played ring-around-the-rosie with my kids. It was wonderful! Eeyore came back around and our server took a family pic with all of us & Eeyore. So fun!

DD asked Chip & Dale if they were squirrels.

When meeting Mary Poppins, DD said "Supercalafragilisticexpealidous". Mary Poppins complimented her on saying such a big word and asked if she could say it backwards. MP then promptly demonstrated by saying it all backwards herself. DD's jaw dropped.

When seeing Belle and Beast together in France at Epcot, I told them that DH and I went to see their movie the night we got engaged. They made a fuss over that.

When it was my DD's turn to see Buzz and Woody at MGM, she spreads out her arms & "flies" to them, calling out "To infinity and beyond!" Buzz got really excited, giving her a thumbs up and high five.

On our last trip, DS3, who adores Buzz just had to visit with him every time we saw him in the park. On our last day, he told Buzz, "I have to go home today. I'm gonna miss you." Buzz just dropped down on DSs level and gave him a big hug.

Captain Hook was quite surprised when DS (then 15 months) gave him a big hug & kiss! At that time, DS didn't know a bad guy from a good guy. He just loved all characters.

That's all I can think of right now. What a fun thread!

On our last trip in January 04, we were in the plaza in front of POTC when Peter Pan came out of nowhere, chased by Captain Hook. DS called Captain Hook a codfish and Peter Pan "recruited" DS to help him "duel" Captain Hook. DS then asked Peter Pan if he could be one of the "Lost Boys" and Wendy came out and started talking about boys needing a mother. DS said to Peter "well, I like your story, but I think I'll stay with mom". It was such a sweet moment. He then got a picture with all of them.

At MGM, STITCH was HILARIOUS. As Lilo tried to keep him in line, he went crazy!!! He stole DS's hat and DS was chasing him around. Stitch then stole my camera and ran away with it. He created all kinds of havoc!! DS loved it.

To all those that share so much with all of us--THANK YOU!!

Wearing clothing with characters on it really breaks the ice. I have a shirt that has Mickey on it pointing and underneath him it says "I'm with Goofy" The day I wore it, sure enough I ran into Goofy. He was soooo excited. He was stomping around and kept pointing at my shirt. We took a bunch of pictures together and he kissed my hand at the end.

I was wearing my Tinkerbell shirt and here comes Peter Pan. He walks up to me and says "Nice shirt" and keeps walking. I looked at my husband amazed that out of a crowd he saw the shirt.

Thanks for this thread, it's really fun

When getting a picture taken with Minnie, she pointed to my Pal Mickey I had attached to my belt loop. I unhooked him and she gave him a hug and gestured to her heart! I thought that was the sweetest thing!

We tried putting my DH's Yankees hat on top of Dopey, but he shook his head "no". Now I understand that it messes with their "costume".

DH told Goofy that he was his fave character and Goofy got "bashful" and hid behind his hands. Then Goofy gave DH a HUGE kiss!!! :love2:

OOOO!!! I love this thread! Especially as someone who's going to have to remember to be silly with the characters! (although I'm becoming more accustomed to the idea!)

If I see Bert and Mary Poppins (and DH and I are having bkfst at 1900 PF for THAT reason alone!) I'm going to say to Bert "Coo.....whot a sah-yeet!" And tell Mary Poppins that she's "practically perfect in every way!"

See??? I told you I was getting the hang of being silly!!!

On a side note, I have a HILARIOUS picture of me terrorizing my dad with a Miss Piggy puppet when I was about 4 or 5 (25 year old pic!!). I've got the puppet up like I'm attacking his head and the expression on his face is PRICELESS!!! If I take it and I find her, do you think Miss Piggy would sign it?????

Just wondering... Are most cm's playing characters male or female?
I have it on very good authority that two of the CMs who play Mickey and Minnie are actually married in real life! Isn't that great?

My DD and I always taunt Hook with "Hook is a codfish, Hook is a codfish!" He comes running after us and DD bolts.

DH and I Just finished stuffing ourselves at the Crystal Palace and we ran into Gov. Ratcliff on Mainstreet. Just as I was getting ready to take a picuture DH says "I see You have been hitting the buffet too!" and patted Gov. Ratcliffs tummy.
He got "offended" then "sucked in his tummy" for the picture. :flower:

One time when chip and dale were at Epcot, DH asked chip and dale if they liked to dance... So they all did.

Another time Genie and Aladin were out by the Magic Carpet ride.
I made DH got have a picture w/ them. He started making Puns about things from the movie, and got Aladin doing it with him.

ask Meeko if he would like a biscut, or if he has seen Percy lately...

Ask Tigger for Bouncing Lessons...

Luckily, this thread stared before we left on our recent December trip. I took notes on what people had said to some of the characters and coached my girls... Here are some of our interactions :

CRUELLA DeVILLE: The girls asked her how come her coat didn't have any spots. She gave the girls a long lecture about how Dalmation puppies don't have spots... She went on and on about how those "little rascals" disquised themselves in the soot....

ALADDIN : The girls told him, "We like you, but where's Jasmine?" He told them that she was quite busy working over in Epot these days, but he'd take his magic carpet over to see her at lunch!

WENDY: My Tink lover told Wendy that she couldn't understand why Tinkerbell didn't like her. Wendy responded (very politely) that Tinkerbell was jealous of her, but she's really quite charming.

DARKWING DUCK: My youngest told him "That cape can't really make you fly!".. he (doesn't talk) promptly covered her face up with it! LOL

**at the opening of Toontown****
My girs were at the ropes when the characters came out. My oldest told me that she said to Pooh, "You're as sweet as your hunny".. he then grabbed her hand and escorted her down to the meet and greets! Tigger grabbed my youngest DD's hand, and along the way, she told him that he's a Tigger, he must bounce! So she and Tigger bounced along down the streets of toontown! LOL

At Animal Kingdom

Minnie: The girls asked Minnie if Mickey had given her a ring yet? She looked at her hands, shook her head, then covered her face up with her hands. We told her that Mickey need to give her one; she's quite special to him!

Donald: You know Donald has quite an ego, so the girls whispered to him that they thought that he was the REAL star of Disney. Donald loved this one! He danced a bit, gave them a big hug, then proudly posed for his photo with the girls. ** Just after meeting Donald is when we got asked to ride in the AK parade!

Mickey: Told him that Minnie was waiting for her ring, and he'd better hurry before Donald snatches her up! LOL Mickey went wild! LOL Started shaking his finger and head, "NO!" (about Donald).

**Epcot Character Bus***

My oldest told Captain Hook to shine her shoes! OMG! :rotfl:

These are just a few of the character interactions we had. If I think of any more, surely I'll come back and write them!

this is such a good thread...i'm trying to remember all these things so i can tell my sisters to do them on our trip in august...i know i certainly will!!!! Keep them coming!

We had a great conversation with Mary Poppins when my son asked her if her Uncle was still on the ceiling. She explained how is was very unfortunate and she was quite concerned about it.

Of course, Tigger will always bounce with you.

At the breakfast in AK, my son was wearing the Davy Crocket "coonskin" cap he had purchased the night before. Goofy thought it was wonderful. He took the autograph pen and wrote: "I had my picture made with Davy Crockett!" My son thought it was fantastic! Later when we met Raffikki - he was quite concerned about my son wearing the skin of an animal on his head.

Both Alice and mary Poppins made a big fuss of my husband because of his English accent.
still don't really know how it happened butTweedledum and tweedle dee started to have a fight over who would sign my autograph book first and kept snatching it from one another and then chased each other round the tea cup ride.
Meeko kept checking my pockets when I told him I didn't have any crackers.
King Louie danced with us when we sang I'm the king of the swingers to him.

I remember standing in line to get an autograh of the wolf character from Pinochio I was in my 30s at that the time, and he looked at me with his arms crossed while i said, 'I am a big little kid".
