WDW Commando Club

Good going!

There is an opening ceremony at Chef Mickeys???? Does it happen at 5 PM???Do tell us what goes on

Here's one I can Confirm, Yes there is indeed a opening ceremony at Chef Mickey's at 5pm. We got ripped off somehow by the lady behind us, and her grandson got picked, even though we were 1st in line, my son was so disappointed, and we will never go back to CM because of that:scared1:

thanx!

At 5pm the 1st family in line is picked to open CM's. The child annouces on the PA that Chef Mickey's is now open, Mickey greets the Family and a Pic is taken. Then Mickey escorts you to your table, as you are walking down the main aisle, the whole CM staff is lined up with thier hand out, and you get to slap everyones hand as your walking by.

It's nothing really huge, but to a kid it's a big deal:goodvibes

We were the 1st in line by a good 15min, I don't know how they were picked (they were 2nd in line), after it happened I was hot:mad: My wife asked the hostess how you are picked to open CM's, she said you have to be a party of 3 or more and be the 1st on line, my wife then asked if that's the case how did the 2nd family in line with a party of 2 get picked:confused3 (after she realized we had 3 and were 1st, she didn't know what to say) :scared1:

They may also do one for Breakfast, but I do not know for sure:confused3

I was just reading up on the Disney Parks technology initiatives meeting they had this week, and I must say I've got some mixed feelings about it:confused3

My main focus is the FP's you would be able to arange for rides and shows before you even travel:scared1:

Now looking at it in a Commando way, it would probably benifit us greatly, since we are well planned we know pretty much where we will be at what time, plus maybe the more then 1 park a day factor. But the thing that scares me is why they would consider doing this:confused3, IMO it probably comes from complaints about rides like TSM that run out of FP's quickly, and they couldn't get one, but fail to mention they didn't leave the resort till late (had to sleep in:lmao:) Once again big corprate catering to the lazy:confused3

I really don't think it will work out, but I also think if they try it, the Commando's will excel in getting even more done in a day:yay:

I'm not excited about "booking" my FP's or rides in advance. Look at well the ADR system works. DH and I were discussing tonight how we miss not being able to book our PS/ADR at the park on the day of the reservation. I love to plan but there's something to be said for spontaneity.

I get up by 5:15 AM and I know that I made an ADR for CRT before 6 AM my time (here in Big D).

While I know that I could plan my trip down to the minute with the proposed new system, I'm not sure I like it either. I let dining dictate most of our schedule. We'll see how this all works out. It could be several years before any of this even comes to fruition.

I think the FP system they have now, works pretty good , I can usally get decent times. On the other hand if they did them in advance the park we would go to at night could go a lot smoother having FP's already in play:confused3

It's not the worst thing they could have come up with, most parks charge a fee on thier version of FP's:scared1: I hope they never go that direction:confused3

Well tomorrow (Tues) I can make our ADR's. I'm going to try at midnight, just to see if you can do it anytime, I already told work I'd be a hour late, just incase:woohoo:

Can I be a beginner commando wanna-be? :lmao: I did pretty good last fall at our first trip to Disneyland, now I'm planning on WDW. This is my first time back since I was 8.

Although I want to plan exceptionally well, because there's a chance I might have to go alone with my kids, because of my son's age and the fact that he's a bit of a scaredy cat, I may have to throw half my plans (and rides:sad2:) out the window when we get there.

:welcome: You are member #139:yay: 1st thing I would do is print out park maps and learn the layout of the land, also do a little research on the rides, shows, parades, etc. to see what ones would work out best for you:confused3 And then go from there:woohoo: If you have any ?'s just ask, I'm most certian someone will be able to answer:goodvibes

Thanks! I've got a good start on the meals already, I have the restaurants (plus a few others extra just in case) printed out and the kids and I are looking them over! lol!

Are you staying at a WDW Resort, how many days will you be staying:confused3

We're booked into All-Star Movies, with the free dining offer, which I've upgraded. 10 whole days:cool1: I'm way more excited than the kids. lol!

Just printed out the maps...a little small, but usable for now. I'm going to highlight the attractions and rides that I am sure my son will be okay with. The ones with drops, like POTC, are iffy.

That's where we stay, my son loves it thier, last 2 times we had The Love Bug section, on son's request, he calls it The Herbie Hotel:lmao: We will most likely be in the Toy Story section in August, I hope anyway since we've been requesting it, since we had to get a preferred room for the Kids Play & Stay Free Offer:woohoo:

Since you are staying on site, you have to make sure you use the Extra Magic Hours, you can get alot done in these times, and if you go back to the resort for a nap or swim, you can still be ahead:cool1:

The drop on POTC is not bad, the pirates and it being kind of dark could be a issue:confused3

We're a commando family for sure! Although we have been often enough now that we don't need to plan every minute anymore. We know the drill by now. :rotfl:

For our May trip this year my son, who is a HS senior, is only going to be at Disney with us for one day before he flies back home. He doesn't want to miss too much school so he is doing a long weekend with us at Universal and the Monday at the world.

So... we are planning major commando day for him. At least three parks, maybe all four. I can't wait!

I tried at midnight and 12:30 am, no luck. This morning I got on at 6:30am and it worked, so somewhere between 12:30 am and 6:30 am it opens, I would take a guess and say 6am:confused3

I Did manage to get everything we wanted:cool1:

This is what we got

8/21 - Ohana 5pm
8/22 - WCC 5pm
8/23 - Teppen Edo 4:10pm
8/24 - 1900 Park Fare 8am
8/25 - Hollywood & Vine with Fantasmic package 4:30pm
8/26 - LeCeillier 11:35 am (lunch)

I lucked out with the times, they are all keepers:woohoo:

This week I have to make the ressies for the extras, we will do, hope they work out just as well as the ADR's:woohoo:
