U-G-L-Y, You Ain't Got No Alibi. Your Bedspread's Ugly.

We love POFQ and have stayed there many times and was anxious for our last trip with the new refurbed rooms.
Always thought the rooms were ugly at POFQ... but nope, with the refurb I think it's even worse. Truly hate the new bedspreads! they need to go.... as well as the ugly picture on the wall. just found the room to be so boring and dreary and ugly with those bedspeads!

sorry if this has already been posted but i have to admit i won't miss these:

Tooo funny! The bedspread at POR in 2004 was why we didn't stay there, lol. Not my pic, but:

ORL_DPOR-rooms-1.jpg

The newer ones are worse, and make me like the old ones a little more.

The new ones are okay, but the old ones are better...I like the old ones.

I like MOST of the bedspreads at Disney. I wouldn't want them at home, but I love them in the rooms. (Not the Nemo ones, though. Ugh.)

The bedspreads are the whole reason I wouldn't stay at CR during the 90's. BAD BAD BAD!! Wasn't too thrilled about the Poly's last renovation either. In 2005 we still had one of the older style rooms and my mom had one of the renovated ones. I liked ours A LOT better.

DH and I will be going solo on this next trip (no kids) in Nov and are staying in a Mod. We picked the CBR because of the bedspread!! DH said there was no way he was going to spend a week looking at deep purple and gold (POFQ) and didn't really like POR either. I wasn't thrilled with them either...

Here is a picture of the POR bed from the Mansions:

We stayed there and these are by far the worst of them all, but lets face it, all the bed spreads at Disney are ugly. Why don't they just do away with them all together and go with white duvets. They are far more elegant, neutral and modern.

I seriously take the bed spread into account when choosing resorts ! Love this thread.

So here are some to consider:
This one is Port Orleans French Quarter:

The Grand Floridian bedspread is the worst of the bunch by far (although the Pirate bedspread and both Wilderness bedspreads are also really bad).

Thanks for the laughs:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing: and starting this thread. I have to agree, surprisingly, it does affect how you feel about the room. Here is a chance to make or break the "feel."

Sorry I don't have pics, but I really like the way the Marriott Residence Inns are decorated. Real upbeat feel and comfortable room. Flat screen TV swivels in between bedroom/living area--pretty unique. Only problem there king beds sink in the middle:scared1::scared1: Next time, we'll have to snap a pic.

Really love the CSR design and YC. Would love to stay at CR Tower or BLT and check it out.

Still laughing:laughing::laughing:

Wouldn't it be fun to be on a panel and help them choose a design:cool1::cool1: I remember answering a survey about the princess rooms and possible Haunted Mansion rooms (that looked cool)!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I realize this thread is old but I am just so happy that other people feel the way I do about the hideous bedspreads.
When discussing where we would be staying, I vetoed my mother's choice of CBR because of the awful 80's bedspreads. I saw a picture of the "mansion" rooms at POR and decided that would be sufficient. Nowhere near as tacky, right? THEN I saw the "bayou" rooms and about had a fit! Oh no, what have I done?
The bedspreads at POFQ aren't fabulous or anything, but after realizing there was a good chance I'd be in a bayou room at POR I had mixed feelings-- like I should have chosen FQ instead. But they have the creepy jesters and giant faces in the cafe... how can I stand such ghastly theming?

I am excited to stay at CSR and the rooms there look lovely. And yes I am a little bit of a drama queen, but as a PP said (paraphrasing), if we are paying through the nose shouldn't we at least have a bed that won't give us nightmares?

oh my, I've found my people. I realize this is an old thread, but I just started one on the resorts board about how it seems I'm choosing resorts based on the bedspreads and a kind poster lead me to this thread!:lmao:

I've been spoiled by Yacht Club (June 2011) and nothing is measuring up!

Thanks crazies!!!:goodvibes

Nope, its never too late to comment on the bedding! In fact, Saratoga Springs has started a softlines refurb. starting with Congress Park. Sad to say, I'm not real happy with the new stuff. I KNOW a kid is gonna grab that bolster from the master bed and wack another kid! Its asking for it!:rotfl2: And the pillow on the living room chair belongs at BLT. The new bedspreads, especially in the master bedroom.... don't look all that different. :confused3 I don't have a pic, but this link goes to the pics on the DVC news website.

IMHO, the design @ the Yacht club is the best!!:love:
It IS WDW so I LOVE & expect a nice themed room.pirate: The YC's white comforters w/ accent fabric look ultra comfy & modern but still go w/ the theme of the hotel.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'm a BIG fan of the show Hotels Impossible [travel channel] so this Q comes to mind on this subject:
ARE those bedspreads & blankets WASHED @ WDW after EACH & EVERY guest??? Some hotels do not wash the "ugly" bed speads & blankets, only the sheets!!!!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1: Please someone tell me THEY DO!!!!
Any "mousekeepers" on this thread who can assure us???:confused:

Yes, whenever my DD8 would plop down on the bedspread... I would shout... "Off The bedspread!! you don't know where its been or who did what to do! yuck!!"

Also known as my first words uttered to DS in our (rather lovely) POR room in 2010. ;)

I too am a folder and tucker-awayer of the bedspread - though in a Manhattan hotel for a multi-room reservation "girls weekend" we had to use them as protection from the hideously sticky carpets. :sad2:

OMG, I love this thread!!! :rotfl2: The only thing I am dreading about our upcoming BCV stay is the bedspread. I planned to take it off the bed completely and stick it in the closet. I was actually contemplating asking at the front desk if I could borrow a duvet spread. But I figure they will say no. But it can't hurt to ask!

Love this thread. Okay am I the only one who would take the bedspread at BLT and cover up the headboard? :scared1:

Love this thread! Its good to know I'm not the only one!

The only ones I could kinda deal with were the old ones at the Disneyland Hotel. It was a balance between the ick factor and liking the depictions of the different rides. I was so torn, I even took a picture of my kid on it (I know, I know, it was probably filthy). I loved the headboards though, and if you squint you can make out the Disneyland Train Station in the foreground of the print.

I stayed at BLT and don't think my eyes ever noticed the headboard. I was too busy looking outside the entire time. But you're right - that headboard is... err.. interesting. Wonder why they didn't just go with a plain one.

Gonna start at the WDW resort properties.

I don't want to be too negative, so in laying out The Good, The Bad and The Just-Plain-Butt-Ugly, I'd like to start with The Good.

We are VERY impressed with the re-done rooms at CSR. They, of course, went beyond replacing the bedspreads, but even just a bedspread replacement (and keeping the old furniture) would have been a huge improvement.

BEFORE / AFTER

CSRnewbedspreads.jpg

HUGE difference, right?

Now for The Bad. Sorry OKW-lovers, but I have to call it out. Remember that "Miami Vice" look we were talking about earlier?

Well...

He is wearing sunglasses. :cool2: And NOT because he's cool, but to protect his eyes.
that just hurts. It's not only the bed spreads, it's those hideous lamps, headboard, pillows and "art" on the wall
