The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Kathy Thanks

Sheryl I saw that the job didn't work out for Angelina. I have confidence that if it is the right job for her they will sweeten the pot. pixiedust:

Tonight is grilled chicken breasts, rice and a salad.

Going back to read what I missed. Stop being so chatty and I might be able to keep up.;)

Scotlas congrats on 2 successfull moves :thumbsup2

Marisa :dance3::cheer2::cheer2: On your loss That is very awesome.

Bethany I had a job that made me sick. That and your apartment is not helping you. You will be amazed how much better you feel after your move

I'm so confused:confused3 This is what I figured out.....
We have 2 little ones sick, hope they feel better soon.

Bethany is home & I have to agree with others STRESS is making you sick at that crazy school!

Nan~ is happy for the cuddle time, who could blame her? Kady has a Mickey rice crispy treat coming her way!

Sheryl ~ A is in my prayers, so sorry about the job.

Dinner was a cheese omelette & wheat toast.

Janice ...sorry the date didn't happen (yet).

Marisa...I forgot to say congratulations! :cheer2: I've been trying to lose some weight but have found it nearly impossible because I am stress eating. I CRAVE sugar (Coke) when I leave work and I just want junk food all the time. It has not been nice to my waist. :headache: July maybe I will get more serious about it...I tend to eat less in summer anyways.

I'm hoping I feel better after I move! The stress of wondering about IF I'm going to move is gone, now it's just working through the smaller details (errr, housing!) and it's not as stressful as waiting to hear about the job. I'm getting less anxious and more excited!

We decided to go with the other idea my DH had for moving; where the company drives the truck down so we are FLYING down on June 30! :woohoo: It is actually cheaper that way, and DH feels better that I won't be driving all 1400 miles (he's not licensed...that's his July project.)

Bethany is home & I have to agree with others STRESS is making you sick at that crazy school!

I also agree with the others. 8 weeks...I don't know why, it's been about the same for the last 3.75 years, WHY these last two months feel so horrid. I think it seems so much worse because I know there are better schools out there and I'm just waiting to get OUT of this one! (I also know there are WORSE ones out there :scared: and also people that DON'T have ANY jobs, so I am grateful to at least HAVE this one for what it's worth....)

Aimee - I meant to thank you for the offer of helping me find a dog if I need it. I want one NOW but that would TOTALLY complicate things. July is best because I'll be on summer break for a bit over a month so I can get used to it while I'm home all/most of the day.

We didn't do the French Fries for dinner; they take a long time and we were lazy. Here's a picture of the sandwiches:

Bethany- that sandwich looks so good to me! I love French Dips.

WFD- DM made meatloaf with gravy, baked potatoes, stewed tomatoes, french style green beans, and salad. I don't love meatloaf but it tasted great since I did not have to cook it.

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my good mood. Liam got to pitch for the first time tonight, and wow, was he great! The coach called it a "phenomenal" performance and dads from the other team were coming up to me saying how good he was, and they sure were glad he reached his pitch count because now the team had a chance. Liam's team won for the first time this season, so Liam and the team were just completely joyful. Liam went to bed the happiest I have seen him in a LONG time. He even gave me a huge hug and didn't want to let go (at home, of course...not in front of his teammates ;)) I am so excited for him. Not only was he proud of his pitching, he was also proud that he hit the ball every time he was up tonight. I just love baseball season.

I promise I will catch up with everyone tomorrow, but here are a few scattered things I can remember in my adrenaline-fueled brain:

Bethany -- I hope you are feeling better. Mold+Stress+Dust and Paintchips = I know time is going to fly for us until the end of June, so if you want, I can send a little of our crazy life your way.

Janice -- I'm sorry the date didn't happen yet, but it sounds like that is a good thing. First dates are hard enough without additional complications.

Sheryl -- I hope Angelina is having fun in NYC. The way I read your post, I thought the job was still a possibility if they came back with a better offer. Did they decide against that?

Ellen -- I'm sorry to hear Jay is leaving so soon. My thoughts are with you and your family. I know it is not an easy time.

Robin -- You will LOVE your new mattress. My back and neck have felt so much better ever since we got a new one. Your parents are wonderful.

Ann -- Glad to hear Luke is feeling well enough to visit your folks.

Marisa (and Erica) -- Congratulations on the weight loss!

Gretchen -- I can't remember what day you were leaving, but have a great trip!

I know I haven't mentioned everyone, but I do have some time to catch up more tomorrow, so for now, have a great night! Oh...dinner was a few bites of a pretty ooky Italian sub at Liam's game. I was too nervous to eat anyway.

I am going to sign off for the night but I just had to say...

:cheer2:Congrats Liam on a great game!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

Your WFD cheerleaders are very very proud of you.

:faint: Me?!? FIRST?!?

Aimee~ do you know anyone that has a Husky rescue or any suggestions I could give my girlfriend? She has promised her kids a dog & the entire family have their heart set on a husky. Thanks:)

I hope this is actually a food thread LOL. We are having homemade mexican food tomorrow in honor of Cinco De Mayo. No recipes other then my mom puts chili o in the hamburger meat along with the taco seasoning. I can't wait til tomorrw. I may even break my diet rule and have a margaritta at home. I stopped drinking at home unless I have company to help lose weight. iI only get drinks when I go out to eat and more then made up for it yesterday with 3 peach martinis. I can't drink like I used to which is a fine thing. I came home and passed out on the couch for a couple of hours and woke up with a mild hangover. Oh well that is the price you pay to have some fun.

Thanks! I am up to 52 pounds and have been here for a while. I am not losing more right now (also not eating the greatest) but I am not gaining. I seem to be staying the same weight but everything seems to be "shifting" around.

WOW, I was just reading back, that is some accomplishment Marissa! Congratulations!!

**Sorry about the many posts I can't seem to multi-quote, it keeps disappearing:confused3

Aimee - Enjoy your Mom today. Is she going to be working on Mother's Day? I'll be there then. Do you want to try and work up a suprise for her?

Oooh, that is an idea. Let me think about it and get back to you. You're a :lovestruc to even offer!

Hi all! The date didn't go yet. He had some unexpected things come up plus he had to work. I wasn't feeling the best but I would have dragged myself together if necessary. I was grateful he didn't have to see me at my worst.:scared1: I don't want to scare the poor man away so soon :rotfl2:

Oooooooooooh, a hot date! I somehow missed this tidbit :confused3 I'm glad things will happen when you feel more confident and put together.

:yay::yay::yay: Liam :yay::yay::yay:

I will get you some info/ideas tomorrow when I have a chance to look some things up.

Oooh, that sounds good. I love peach drinks!

Tonight the staff went to PF Changs for dinner. Did you all know that you can order "the limo ride" there and the waiter brings a variety of various dishes out for everyone to pass? That is what we always do when we go and have been able to try just about everything on the menu that way. We had 2 appetizers plus 8 dishes to share between us. My favorite is still the wok seared lamb (which we always request!). The veggie coconut curry with tofu was also fabulous.

I have to leave for a conference at 7am tomorrow so I came home to sleep. I am still not feeling well and really need sleep - which I don't do well away from home.

:welcome:

Yes, we talk about food here. Sometimes. ;)

I'm going back today. :scared:

Was a good weekend at my sisters, although I spent a good bit of time helping her clean up for her church group. Can I just say I have to laziest 5 yo DN! :headache: Had to bribe, threaten, cajole and outsmart her, I'm exhausted. :rotfl: The 8yo did what she was asked for the most part but did whine a whole lot. Ended up having to pay them to help clean up their messes. :sad2:

.

This whole post has me :rotfl:! They are so funny, aren't they?Kady is like that as well....she'll make beds without having to be asked, feed the cats adn pick up random clutter but then if I ask her to pick up her things on the floor she has a mini meltdown:confused3

 She also still mispronouces just a few words like " Nana bemember yesterday when..." I know I should be correcting her but it's too cute.

She didn't accept the offer, the pay was much lower than she expected. She had another meeting & discussed with the gen. manager & was hoping to hear back from them before she left, but didn't. I'm worried about it.

Love that! Kady used to say "fridgerfer". I loved it. Sometimes she still slips and it makes me :goodvibes:goodvibes Don't grow upppppppppppp!

I wonder if the firm will come back with a counteroffer for Angelina. Fingers crossed for her!

Okay girls, we are heading over to my parents for dinner. They miss their little guy and actually he has been good all day. We are just about to leave, update you all later on what DM prepared.

.

Glad to hear our little one is feeling better! How are you doing?

Hi all! The date didn't go yet. He had some unexpected things come up plus he had to work. I wasn't feeling the best but I would have dragged myself together if necessary. I was grateful he didn't have to see me at my worst.:scared1: I don't want to scare the poor man away so soon :rotfl2:

Now we get more anticipation time :thumbsup2 Seriously, better to wait and not have extra "stuff" to worry about.

My sister and her then husband fixed me up with Buddy. I had met him but had refused to go out with him for over 3 months. When he picked me up he sort of just froze in the doorway. It seems that my BIL had told him I had one child.....and when he arrived there were three running around along with my very unconventional set of teenage male babysitters glaring at him :rotfl:

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For Liam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great night for you too, Mom. Basking in the glow of his success is the best feeling.

Laura- don't try to catch up...it is only 4 pages andI am :dance3::dance3:trying keep up

I hope this is actually a food thread LOL. .

Food? Us? :rotfl2:Yes there is food here, it is the common denominator we all have but meals are only the backdrop for some good chat. Please jump in and share your meals if you want and anything else you want to talk about. If you would share your peach martini recipe I would appreciate it, most of the cocktails I enjoyed in Disney had a peach base and they were so good!

I have to leave for a conference at 7am tomorrow so I came home to sleep. I am still not feeling well and really need sleep - which I don't do well away from home.

I hope that today finds you feeling better

I am starving! Teach me to read this before I even think about cereal and bananas :rotfl:

Dinner will be pork chops of some kind. Once again it is rainy and raw so grilling is a maybe. Last night I was able to grill a sirloin and served it with baked sweets, Baby Bellas sauted in olive oil, butter and worchestershire and steamed green beans. Green salad for Buddy. Mine will be for lunch.

Good morning! Boy, I really need to find some time to catch up! Hopefully later...

Congratulations Liam!!! That is wonderful news to hear you are doing so well!

Dinner tonight will be carne asada from trader joes, tortillas to make tacos, fresh salsa from the store and some mexican beer...

Have a great day!

BBL! ;)

Oh! I wanted to thank Angelina for going to NYC! Buddy and I are going in June and I have been looking for shows that he might enjoy. Stomp is now on our list. We are also going to visit the Intrepid museum. I need one more show and am looking at Mamma Mia or Rock of Ages. Any other idea? He doesn't want to see Jersey Boys and I did not see that Smokey Joe's Cafe is still playing. He would not care for a show like Chicago or 42nd Street. he does not even remember seeing Jesus Chris Superstar and that was less than a year ago so you can see what I need to look for.

I have to find dinner ideas as well. We went to DelFrisco's the last time and it was so good. It was a little pricey though, but by then he was so shellshocked he did not even want to know the total. Ellen's Stardust Diner was fun too.

I hope this is actually a food thread LOL. We are having homemade mexican food tomorrow in honor of Cinco De Mayo.

Welcome! We even post pics of food, our "food porn".;) I look forward to sharing recipes with you!

I love PF Changs and have never heard of this. Is it very expensive? Does it have to be a large group to order this?

I need one more show and am looking at Mamma Mia or Rock of Ages.

I would love to see Mamma Mia, heck I'd go see anything, I've never been to NYC.:rotfl:

WFD - Chicken in a bag, rice & gravy and corn. Have a great day everyone!
