She said it wouldn't be boring!-WONDER WB Caribbean cruise - Bonus Posts Wrap up

I got behind again :(

Your room and view are gorgeous! Fun fun fun! I loved riding Toad again, I was very sad when they took it out of WDW. You got quite a bit of fun in.

Too bad Fran had to go back home.

You got some great pictures of Pirates. I guess I never really paid attention to the words but I was singing along too :)

Love the foggy view. That would have been quite special to see.
The sign of a fresh coffee bean is from the crema! That.....and the right pressure. Looks like the Nespresso was set up properly if you were seeing that foam on top. And a self-confessed coffee snob here....when you and Fran head to Melbourne, we'll go check out some of the coffee places around here. It'll put the Nespresso to shame.

The view was really unique, fog isn't unusual at my house, but that far inland is strange! I'm looking forward to when you can introduce me to your coffee snob places. I can't even think about Australia until we get out of the old house and get the two places rented. However, I did read Pete's TR to get some ideas of where we want to go.

So...first....No water in the room??? And then a painted drop-cloth with a castle???? WOW! Disney standards are sure dropping! :scared1::laughing:
There sure looks like a ton of work being done around Disney for the 60th.

Yeah, I know! It should be really nice for my birthday weekend. When I'm not even planning on going inside the parks. :sad2:

How do you like the new lens?
Looks like you had fun on the rides.

YUM! For the Cafe Orleans food.

The new lens has been working really well. I think the first time I used it at the parks was with you.

Well done for making most of Magic Morning. I have reached the point that it feels strange to see Haunted Mansion without the overlay and I absolutely adore Haunted Mansion Holiday. Your lunch looked delicious. At some stage I have to try the Pommes Frites. I love the photos from Pirates. They have come out really well. I am glad that Fran got her book.

Corinna

I definitely like it better without the overlay, but I don't hate it like some do. You must try the Pomme Frites! They are the best!

Love the song lyrics and ::yes:: I sang along.

:thumbsup2

Those Pomme Frites looks incredible. I still have yet to try them.

I can't believe you still haven't had them! We need to fix that on your Spring Break trip!

The Castle is so incredibly sad looking like that. :( Like seriously, and while I know it needs to be done, if it looked like that during a first or second trip, I'd be pretty upset. Are they dressing it up for the 60th?

It really was sad looking. I feel bad for anyone who was taking a first trip there. :sad2:

Hi Alison! Newbie joining in :)
I have to thank you for your excellent reports! I had ankle surgery on Friday, your SWW TR got me through Saturday and now this one has got me through Sunday! I really feel like I'm getting to know you both from reading your reports, and am very much enjoying your pictures-especially all the great food pics and fireworks pics. Can't wait to read more about your future adventures and am heading back to read more if the past :flower3:

I'm glad that you were able to have fun reading my past TRs. If you want some good reading and pictures, I would suggest that you read PrincessinOz's TRs, she has one from 2013 for a month long trip. That one will really keep you busy and entertained!

Looks like you were enjoying being a tourist at Disneyland, your pics are getting me excited for May. I like you fussy Disney nutrition too.

It was fun being a tourist myself and with Fran. Not that I don't enjoy going out and doing what my DIS friends want to do, but it had been a while since we did our own thing.

Pam, your profile pic is great. Is that Connor?

Enjoyed the update! Oh my re no water overnight with my condition I would really panic! Ohhh the fog. Like London :crutches:. I love that you went to Magic morning. I bet there were some upset folks with the replacement castle! There seemed to be a lot of rides down but they have to refurb and maintain some point. Low season is fair game. We always seem to vacation when the water parks are closed! Well TL anyway which is our favorite one. Well done for sticking to your diet plan. The lunch looks tasty! I would like to try that Toad ride. Hope you have somewhere great planned for dinner!

With the big celebration coming you have to expect that rides will be down. The castle is getting it's new jeweled look. The no water overnight would have driven me over the edge though. I'm never as thirsty or as in need of water until it isn't there.

The shot from your room at night when it was foggy was very neat. It would have been nice to see at night.

Thanks!

You had a very nice day at DL where you were able to do quite a lot of rides. It won't be too long until I see SB Castle all covered up. It will be so weird to see it like that. But it will look amazing when the castle is ready for the 60th anniversary.

Only another day. It's a pretty strange sight.

After seeing your photos of the food porn at CO, it makes me want to go back there and have the Pomme Frites and Monte Cristo.

I think the last time we ate there, was with you and PIO, so it had been a while for me too.

Just wanted to say a quick thanks! I can't always keep up to comment on things but as per usual I have thoroughly enjoyed your trip report(s) and I will look forward to the next one (not sure what I'm going to do now all the reports I've been reading are coming to an end ) Take care both of you!! :flower3:

I would suggest reading PrincessInOz's TRs. She has a lot of them and they are rather lengthy since she is from Australia and usually her trips are longer than most Americans usually take.

Fun report!

Thanks! :goodvibes

The only time I've been in California was in 1991 with my college concert band. There was a major drought going on at the time until 2 busses of Midwesterners showed up. We brought torrential rains, and that is when I learned that the entire state of California was filled with people who had forgotten :scared1: how to drive in the rain, since it had been years since there had been any rain of consequence there.

I think I remember that storm. The flood basin in the San Fernando Valley flooded and they didn't realize to close it down to traffic. A ton of people got stranded and had to be airlifted out because they were stuck on the roofs of their cars. After that they closed it down at the first drop of rain.

Um, yeah, I live in the Midwest and know some farmers. I think your doctor has them confused with the organic hippie vegan farmers. Midwesterners like their meat and POTATOES, and has she seen the glycemic index of sweet corn? Plus most of the corn and soybeans grown are fed to animals, including those that will become bacon...

How thoughtful of her :)

She's good like that!

Complete with the soundtrack in my head :thumbsup2

I'm glad that so many people liked that!

Wow... that would stink... but I guess maintenance has to be done sometime. And better at night than say, 5:30 - 11 am.

But yes, I would be frustrated as a paying customer.

Yeah, I guess it was better, but it was still disconcerting!

Holy cow!!!! Despite everything that we endured being under refurbishment, I'm so glad we didn't have to see this view. That would have been a tremendous disappointment!!!!

Thank goodness that I've seen the regular castle enough times for it just to be annoyance. We were there yesterday and I saw people with "first visit" buttons and I felt really bad for them

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

They need an AC/DC soundtrack for the ride...

That would be really funny! :thumbsup2

I would have loved to have seen the holiday overlay. Or the regular. I really didn't care... :(

Sorry you missed out on that one. It just means you need to come back!

2 fantastic rides. And I loved the new elements to BTMRR.

They are really cool! I love to ride that one as much as I can.

At least they told you the water would be cut off. Our stay there we woke up to no water. The least magical part of our abd trip! Some people were even in the shower when the water stopped.:scared1:

I can't believe you still haven't had them! We need to fix that on your Spring Break trip!

::yes:: I agree, they look incredible every time I see them. I haven't made any PS for Spring Break. The calendar is finally out though. We don't know if Michael will be joining us or not yet. He may have to stay back for work. Maybe I will make a PS or two today. I think I recall you mentioning you ladies will be out of town that week until the weekend?

Wow. That's even less impressive than my photo. :rotfl2:

:lmao:

I'm still stunned that it exists at all!

It didn't even dawn on me, until she pointed it out.

You've trained me to look for this now!

One of those little "tongue in cheek" jokes that the imagineers stick in there!

I just read about that on the Disney Parks blog. Curious to see what recipes are inside! We're always looking for new ones.

I still have to look at the book! I haven't read it yet.

Good call, Fran!

:thumbsup2

Nice shot!:thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

I might take you up on that offer sooner than you would have thought!! :goodvibes

I was hoping so, since you said that you and Michael might be coming out for the 60th!

Ok, what is that grey thing with white stuff on top? It looks like a huge slice of liver sausage with whipped cream.... I hope it is something more appetizing!!

:rotfl2: I have been wanting to respond to this ever since I read it! :launghing: It's a blueberry bagel with cream cheese! I can't even imagine liver sausage! That's one thing about German food that it is very different from Americans!

I like the screen! Something different, not just the usual picture. I wonder what kind of embellishments it will get for the anniversary...

Someone here mentioned jewels on the Castle. It's a Herb Ryman sketch, kind of a neat touch rather than the standard Disney barricades.

I really need to eat somewhere in New Orleans Square on my next visit. Those pommes frites looks very delicious!! Btw, in German we use the French term as well. However, it sounds more like Pomm Fritz. ;)

I remember that from my trip to Germany many years ago. They were served with mayonnaise instead of ketchup like most Americans use.

Definitely scored on your room with that view.

:lmao:love your RSR pic!

It's a great view. Glad you like the pic!

I saw on a friends FB that they have some type of picture over the castle right now cause they're decorating for the 60th?? Poor people who are now visiting for the first time ever and thats how they get to see the castle.

I know. We were there Friday and there were tons of folks with "1st Visit" badges. I felt bad for them.

I cannot BELIEVE you only kept to the strawberries (with just a little bit of brown stuff) and nothing else! You really are determined, that's great.:thumbsup2 I'd fail miserably.

You're only 30. When you're pushing 50 and your doctor tells you that you'll be having bypass surgery in 10 years, you take it a little bit more seriously. You're also much healthier than me.

What the heck, no water from 11pm-5am?! That's crazy.

That's what I said.

I'll have you know that your posts have got us thinking about next February's vacation while we are in the middle of THIS February's vacation. I showed my wife the pictures of the one-bedroom, and we continued the debate of "4 nights in a studio for 68 points vs 3 nights in a 1-bedroom for 93 points", and still haven't settled on an answer.

I would go for the 1 bedroom, but I don't do well with many people in a small space.

Fran is right that it is the only Disney ride with a representation of Hell. We love going on Mr. Toads out there, because we miss the one in WDW. Which was the only dual track dark ride at a American Disney Park. (In more trivia - it was also one of THREE rides in Fantasyland in which you could see an image of a women's bare breasts. Apparently topless images weren't as controversial in the seventies as they are today. Only one of the other rides is still in existance, they covered 'em up!) :rotfl:

Interesting. :scratchin:

Looks to me like you got quite a lot done in a short time!

I was pleasantly surprised that we got in so many rides, and shopping.

I sang along! I used to have that as my ringer. My favorite ride. Sigh. Thank you for that moment!

I have that as one of my ring tones, it's Darcy, my cleaning lady's, tone. I have Disney rings for all my friends and contractors.

I got behind again :(

Your room and view are gorgeous! Fun fun fun! I loved riding Toad again, I was very sad when they took it out of WDW. You got quite a bit of fun in.

It happens to the best of us. I don't know why they had to take Toad out of WDW, they have plenty of space.

Too bad Fran had to go back home.

You got some great pictures of Pirates. I guess I never really paid attention to the words but I was singing along too :)

At least it wasn't a big thing to go home. If she had forgot meds in WDW, THAT would suck.

Enjoyed the update! Oh my re no water overnight with my condition I would really panic! Ohhh the fog. Like London :crutches:.

:rotfl2:

I love that you went to Magic morning. I bet there were some upset folks with the replacement castle! There seemed to be a lot of rides down but they have to refurb and maintain some point. Low season is fair game.

I'm sure there were some people upset. Luckily we didn't meet up with any of them or see their disappointment.

Well done for sticking to your diet plan. The lunch looks tasty! I would like to try that Toad ride. Hope you have somewhere great planned for dinner!

I didn't really, just didn't go overboard off it, but I did try.

With the big celebration coming you have to expect that rides will be down. The castle is getting it's new jeweled look. The no water overnight would have driven me over the edge though. I'm never as thirsty or as in need of water until it isn't there.

I had plenty of water for drinking, it was using the facilities that was the potential disturbing factor.

At least they told you the water would be cut off. Our stay there we woke up to no water. The least magical part of our abd trip! Some people were even in the shower when the water stopped.:scared1:

That's insane!

We're going to be around pretty much your whole trip. If we go to my parents, we'll be back on the 29th. We should do a day like last time when we met up. That was fun, but more time for the adult beverages!

Sounds good! You and I may be the only adults. Still not sure if Michael will join us or not. We're plannng to be at the parks 3-4 days between March 30-April 2. :woohoo:

Well let's figure it out via text which day we'll get together at the parks. As always you are always welcome to come by the house and I'll make you all a meal! Even if we are the only adults, your kids are old enough to hang out in the parks without us!

For sure. :woohoo: I love touring with teens! They'd kill me if I tried to ditch them. :lmao: Don't tell them I entertained the idea. ;) LOL!

The Last of some fun days

After a little time resting in the room, we headed over to Steakhouse 55 for dinner. I didn’t take any pictures of us, just the food.

Chef Marcel wasn’t in the restaurant that night, but JC took care of us. He remembered us from the last time he cooked for us and again he made us a fabulous meal. I don’t remember what the Amuse Bouche was, but this is what we had. It may have been melon with Prosciutto.

This is the Bread Service

This was a Cream of Cauliflower Soup with Bacon and Cheese. Normally I don’t like Cauliflower, in fact I tried several different recipes with Cauliflower on this eating plan. This is the only form of it that I enjoyed.

This was an apple and other field greens salad. It was really good and I ate every bite.

This is a blurry picture of shrimp and succotash. It was really good and this is where I started handing the dishes over to Fran. See even though Marcel wasn’t there, his sous chef knows how to feed people!

DSCN9459.jpg

Then we got our main, it was a Filet Mignon with Truffle Mashed Potatoes and brocolini.

For dessert they got rather creative. Normally I request a soufflé because Marcel is a French Chef and he does an awesome job with the souffles, but I made no requests at all this time. They served us a bruleed sabayon with berries, mine was a vanilla.

Fran’s was a chocloate.

While this was a very tasty dessert, I think I will request that we have more solid and less dairy like desserts. I pretty much crashed once we got back to the room after this!

We came back to the room to find another voice mail that the water would be off from 11 until sometime an hour or so less than the night before. I couldn’t believe how quickly I fell asleep from the food coma, and the next thing I knew, it was the next morning. This is one sight I never get tired of seeing.

We got some breakfast and headed out to TSMM. The only shot I got was this blurry shot of our scores, again beavers.

And I got a Chicken Chile Verde Cone from the cozy cones on our way out the parks.

After that we picked up our luggage from the bellman and went home. It was a fun and relaxing couple of days.

Love the chicken chili verde cone! The mac and cheese is good too but a little rich.

Dinner looks fabulous! I am excited to see what they'll come up with for your birthday dinner. party:

Sounds like a plan; they are always up for a little downtime and beverage.

The zero balance DVC bill is always a thing of beauty that's for sure! :cloud9:
