I'm so excited for our upcoming September trip and I think DH has heard enough about it, so I thought I'd take it to the boards! This is our first vacation just the 2 of us since our honeymoon which was exactly 6 years ago now. We usually spend most of our vacation time visiting family overseas and in California and sleeping on people's sofas, so this will be a real treat! We're also having a house built right now and have been living in my parent's house for a couple of months to save up while we wait, the house won't be done until September though! So a September vacation could not get any better for us! Also, this is most likely our last Disney vacation without kids, so we're making the most of nice dinners!
We have all of our ADRs done now. It took a while as we're trying to eat at mainly places we've never been before, but we are returning to 4 of our favorites. We're vegetarians, so I spent a lot of time reviewing menus to pick places that gave us some great options.
09/04 - (D) San Angel Inn (Been here several times and we couldn't say no this time!)
09/05 - (D) Via Napoli Ristorante
09/06 - (D) Rose & Crown Pub (My husband is English, so we go here every time for a taste of home)
09/07 - (B) Tusker House Breakfast (Another one of our faves that I couldn't pass up)
09/07 - (D) Jiko's
09/08 - (D) Victoria & Albert's Queen's Dining Room (I am so excited for this one, we figured it's now or never and we have to try it at least once!)
09/09 - (D) California Grill (hoping the catch the fireworks too)
09/10 - (D) Flying Fish Cafe (after dinner we're going to walk over to Jelly Rolls)
09/11 - (L) Be our Guest (DH's birthday!)
09/11 - (D) Raglan Road (Then drinks in Disney Springs to celebrate DH's birthday)
09/12 - (L) ??? - We always try to have a nice big lunch on our last day since our flight leaves around 8pm
We are also going to try the Grand Floridian Cafe and Kona Cafe for breakfast 1 or 2 days.
We always did the dining plan in the past but when we got back from our last trip, we realized that if we just bought the food we wanted to eat, we would have saved money by not doing the dining plan. The vegetarian options tend to be some of the cheapest menu items and we hardly ever had room for dessert. Also, we were never hungry at lunch time, so most of that was a waste as well. We also skipped the signature restaurants because so we could have a table service meal every night on the plan.
This time we're trying the ToW card and we're going to see how that works for us vs.
DDP. My initial calculations (minus V&A's) tell me that it will cost about the same as the DDP, but we'll be eating what we want and my budget includes drinks with every dinner. Of course every person's situation is different and the DDP does work great for a lot of people. Fingers crossed I did my dining budget right!
Thanks for letting me go on and on about our future trip, 4 months, 2 days and counting!
