S.O.C.K. and Stitch Return to the World with a Dog **New 6/14** Day 8/9 The End p. 19

The cabins look and sound wonderful. We might try those in November since we'll likely have DMIL and a 5 month old with us.

I'm inspired by your road trip snacks. I confess that road trips are junk food sprees for our family, but my girls love fruit too. I never think about taking it. I guess that's pretty silly of me.

I was so glad to read about your stay at Fort Wilderness. We stayed there many years ago and LOVED IT! I agree it was quiet and lovely! The only thing we didn't like was that our cabin was really far from the bus stop so we were walking ALOT.

I am looking forward to reading about Best Friends. I have known people to take their pets there and have said they do a great job. Sorry your first "Disney" person was not as friendly as you would have hoped.

Shortly before the trip, I'd been working harder at getting more fruits and veggies into our bodies. So I had that motivation behind me when I planned for the drive. Plus, I knew we probably wouldn't be eating as much of those things while we were down in Disney World. I also had along Triscuits (the new red bean ones with the red pepper flavor were awesome!), cheese, and homemade trail mix.

I wish the kennel was actually run by Disney. I don't think that girl would last long if it was.

~ Wednesday, March 13 ~

I woke up pretty early the next morning. Something woke me up around 4 and I couldn't get back to sleep, try as I might. I finally got up at 5:30 and headed for the shower. The way it worked all week was that I would set my alarm and get up first to shower. Then I'd wake up Chuck and the boys.

We'd brought along bagels and peanut butter along with the oatmeal. I can't remember which we had this morning, but it was probably the bagels. Chuck packed his small backpack with necessary items such as Lara bars (these are granola bars that contain all natural ingredients--very tasty and filling, but also expensive) and bottles of water. We were out the door and heading to the bus stop by 7 (which was my goal).

As a reference for those who might stay at The Fort and want to plan for using the buses, my notes say we got on a boat at 7:30. And I know we waited a little bit at the dock. Here is our gorgeous view that morning:

The boat stopped at Wilderness Lodge. It was the only time it did this on our trip. Not quite sure why it did. We ended up arriving at MK just before the opening show started. I was glad we'd purchased our tickets the night before or else we would have missed it.

Chuck looks a bit tired:

With the park officially opened, we headed inside. Doing what we decided to call "The Disney Shuffle." Y'all know what this is, right? When crowds are heavy you kind of have to shuffle along. We did our Disney Shuffle dance throughout the trip, even when the crowds weren't bad. :dance3:

Since my boys weren't interested in any of the new Fantasyland stuff (or most of the old except for Goofy's Barnstormer), we headed to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Chuck, Owen and Connor had never done this one before so it was high on our list. There was no wait of course. Everyone liked it although Connor rode most of the time with his eyes closed.

Next we headed to Haunted Mansion. Again, only Sully and I had done this one before. Everyone enjoyed this one too.

Then it was time for a bathroom break! We headed to the new bathrooms. :thumbsup2

Loved the details along the way:

We headed over to the new Story Book Circus so Owen and Sully could ride Goofy's Barnstormer.

Connor and I decided to go into the tent and see who we could find. First up was this guy in his cool outfit.

As you can see, Connor didn't want to join me. :worried: I tried to get him to meet Donald, but he wouldn't do that either so we headed back out to join up with everyone else.

We took the back way towards Tomorrowland. We were going to see how long of a wait it was for Buzz. I don't remember how long it was, but it wasn't long at all so we hopped in line.

I did horribly this time. Sully rode alone, Owen and Connor went together, as did Chuck and I.

Sorry about the poor quality of this one:

It was time for a snack break so we got out the Lara bars, trail mix, and water. Then we headed to Carousel of Progress. I was the only one who'd done this one before. And of course throughout the show, I joined in every time. "It's a GREAT big beautiful tomorrow--shining at the end of every day."

Connor wanted to do the People Mover next so we got on for a ride. I'd forgotten how fast it went. I think it was Connor's favorite ride of the day!

I forgot to mention that when we first entered the park, we went over to the firestation to get Sorcerer of the Magic Kingdom cards, but they said the machine was down or something and we should go to the kiosk behind the Christmas Shop. So after the People Mover, we headed that way.

Here is the CM explaining to us how it works:

We headed off to find our first location, but couldn't get it to work. So we went back to the kiosk where we started and they changed the location for us. (Turns out, we'd actually been at the wrong one.) We did a couple and then couldn't find the next one. (Again, we were confused looking at the map they gave us and were looking in the wrong spot.) We decided to give up for now and head over to see some Pirates. It'd been a while since we'd done Pirates of the Caribbean. After a nice boat ride, it was time for some lunch. Originally I'd wanted to try Be Our Guest. But given the time and our location (and the fact their menu is kind of limited and not a lot the kids would like), we decided to just hit Pecos Bills. It was pretty crowded in there but we managed to find a nice table outside. I enjoyed my taco salad. :thumbsup2

We had a visitor for lunch:

Once we finished we headed over to the Enchanted Tiki Room--another first for the family (except me).

The last thing on our agenda was Tom Sawyer Island. The park was already very crowded by this time. Walking through Adventureland and Frontierland were not fun. We hopped a boat over to the island.

Sully had told me during planning the trip that wanted to spend a long time on Tom Sawyer Island. But after a short playing period, everyone was ready to leave. So back on the boat we went. We were all reaching our had enough of the crowds level so we decided to head back to the Fort.

On the way out, we were escorted to the exit by the Celebrations parade.

Up Next - Day 3 - Part 2

Do you remember in my trip report for Port Orleans Riverside I posted a picture of the toilet in their foodcourt? The one at Sanaa wasn't that interesting. ;)

Hate when that happens. :confused3

What a terrific sunrise.

Then it was time for a bathroom break! We headed to the new bathrooms. :thumbsup2

Uhm, This weren't very interesting either I take it?

What was this?

The best character in the park.
Watch those whiskers!!!

Great update Carissa!!!

Ready for the next one. :moped:

Great update. Being escorted out by the parade is one of my favorite things!

I also want to know what's in the rock (?) at the Tangled potty, lol.

:)

Pretty sunrise, I love that early morning boat ride from the fort or the lodge. You got a lot done by getting there early, nice to do that and then run away from the crowds. Sorcerers sounds like it was a little bit of a bust.

Sounds like you got a lot done that day! I want to see the Tangled toilets area :rotfl:. I have never been to Tom Sawyers Island, don't think I ever will. It was great that there were so many first rides accomplished that day. Can't wait to read more :goodvibes.

What was this?

It's supposed to be apple cores.

What a great MK day, and lots of firsts too! I love the sunrise photo you took, very pretty :)

Thanks. I took it with my camera phone and thought it came out pretty well. :)

They're apple cores. Lots of neat little details in that area. :)

We had better luck with it on another day, and I guess the boys enjoyed it. But I wasn't overly impressed. The "free" cards are nice though.

We did get quite a bit done. Since the park opened at 8, we were able to get quite a bit done in the first two hours before it started getting crowded.

Joining in. I am considering a trip to Ft. Wilderness cabins so I am glad I found your TR :thumbsup2 Beautiful family, thanks for taking the time to share your experiences :goodvibes

This picture is obviously a winner...

so pretty!

But I like this one, too.

They are very interested in this. ::yes::

There is something for everyone in Disney World. :thumbsup2

We ate lunch at Be Our Guest on this trip. The food was nothing to speak of. The fries were cold when they arrived. The building itself is neat to see, though, and I got some new pictures, so I'm glad I got to try it.

Love the sunrise pic :thumbsup2 I adore the early mornings when I'm in florida! Something about watching the world come to life sets me up for the day ahead however crazy/busy it gets :goodvibes

All caught up. Don't know why I haven't been Dis'ing lately.

Did you take the back road to Ft. Wilderness from the kennel? Staying at POR so much, I learned that way to get to the Contemporary and all the MK resorts.

I love the pic of the guys in line for MK. My first thought was "Wow, a family standing in line and not spread all the way across." Hope that makes sense.

The sunrise photo is great.

I didn't realize there was so much the boys hadn't done.

I have been craving Sanaa, what a great view you had.

Sanaa is one of my favorite places to eat there.
10:15 that night I was on a plane. A bad plane. LOL
I missed the new potty when I was there. :O(
It was crowded then. At least you missed the cheerleaders.

Sorry for my slow responses. Turns out the first cold I had at Disney was not the same one the boys had. I ended up coming down with theirs before I'd barely finished my first one. Which led to me developing bronchitis and a bacterial infection. But the meds have kicked in and I'm doing better. :thumbsup2

That was the main reason I wanted to go. Oh well. Another time!

It was extra peaceful watching the sunrise at The Fort. :goodvibes

Yes, although I didn't really realize it was a back road. It was literally like a 3 minute drive over there. I had no idea when I planned the trip how close it would be.

I didn't realize there was so much the boys hadn't done.

There was a lot Connor and Owen hadn't done because of their ages last time. And some things they never got to because of other things they wanted to do. But this time they all wanted to try new things.

It was crowded, and, not to give too much away, the next day was as well, but after that things improved. :)
