REPORTING LIVE FROM...Home! :(

So jealous! I only applied to universities that I felt were "close to home", and I still have to deal with a 2.5 - 3 hour drive to Philadelphia. :rotfl:

Sad that your live trip report is over, since that means you're back in the real world. :( But on the bright side, now you have your dining review to relive the food memories. :goodvibes Good luck preparing your DD to go off to college. I've done it two times before, and I still dread that time of year when I have to pack.

DD was willing to go as far north as Montreal, as far south as Maryland, and as far west as Chicago. We are all so thrilled she ended up right in our own backyard!

Fortunately, since she is going to be so close, we don't feel that much pressure about packing. If she forgets something, we'll just bring it the next day! Or since she will be in NYC, I'm pretty sure she'll be able to find whatever thing she's missing in 12 different colors. We don't want to send her with too much, so she and her roommate (whom she has never met) will be able to bond over decorating together. It sounds like they have very similar taste and interests...we'll see.

Real world is smacking us hard today! DH just finished downloading all the food porn to photobucket, so I'm ready to get that report started!

I hope you have a fabulous, safe trip, filled with lots of pixie dust and yumminess!

Glad to hear you are all back home safely. Trust me, I know that gut-sinking feeling the day after. You have to be a masochist to even do it again....but we LOVE WDW too much for that. I believe that this is the reason we [my family and I] love it so much. We bond and have so much fun in such a magical place that you just don't want for it to end.

All the luck sending your DD to college. I have one son and he's going into junior year in high school so we're a few years out.

,,,,and again, thank you for the live reporting. I felt as if I was there and I cannot believe how fast the time flew by.

Regards,

Thank you, Jose! Yes, so much bonding! So many laughs and tears together, this trip was really amazing. The LIVE trip report serves as a great souvenir. Even my DS, who isn't a DISer, spent some time reading it and laughing over the memories today.

"I wish I could bottle that smell of the GCH and bring it home. But then it wouldn't be as meaningful, I guess!"

so true ::yes:: Disney will be waiting for you!

Glad you got home safely.
Thanks again for your report:)

YAY, Disney will be waiting for us! Thanks for that thought!

I loved writing the report, and I'm so glad you enjoyed reading it!

Here are the H2O prducts for sale in Boutiki. They had a variety, including the ones used at both the Poly and the CR. These were available at BVG in the CR as well.

Eeyore doesn't want to leave Tambu!

Great news! We met Dani, Daniel and Lily! Such a beautiful family!

They are so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry we missed you, we left the Poly 615pm....we were wth Dani  I felt so DUH!!! when I got your text and we were at MK!!! Glad you made it home safely, we are home too :worried:

Glad sis found you though!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing such a well-updated and thorough trip report with all of your fellow DISers. I followed along throughout and truly felt like I was there with you! Hopefully you are not feeling the post-WDW blues TOO strongly today. I know how tough they can be. :goodvibes

BTW- I live just 15 mins or so outside of HPN in CT, so we are practically neighbors! ;) Isn't that airport the best?!

Thank You for sharing your vacation with us.....glad you had a great time and are back home safely !!!!! 25 more days to go until it's our turn. :goodvibes

Our flight landed at 11:30 after a 1 hour delay. The delay was due to weather along the east coast which caused our plane to be grounded at its origin (I think I heard Virginia). Our taxi was late picking us up because we have a language barrier with the driver Juan, and he waited in Ossining to get the call that we had landed.

As we waited on the curb at the airport awaiting our taxi, we laughed because we were all thinking the same thing. Where were MCDomzal, fightinillini229 and family? It felt like they should have been there, waiting on the curb with us! ;)

Juan showed up at around 11:50, and we were in our house by 12:10. So happy to see our kitties! So anxious about all the stuff we now have to get done for work and to send DD off in 2 weeks. Missing WDW and the Poly terribly already, but we know we will be back!

Thanks for following along everyone!

We feel the same way! Thought I might run into you at the grocery store yesterday! :lmao: We so enjoyed meeting you!!

Life is hitting us hard, too. We came home to a very sick dog. Somehow our toilet cracked while we were gone and was leaking. Then yesterday my car broke down while I was running my 100's of errands I had to do. :( Ah, life, ain't it grand!

At least our flight got out on time - well, almost. We knew what time you guys were headed home so DS checked and saw that your flight was delayed. We felt so badly for you. As if going home isn't bad enough!

Well, have to go to work now. Let the fun continue....

:sad1: Boutiki pics make me miss WDW :sad1:

Me too! I wish we were back at the Poly. I'm trying to convince DH that a resort-only trip would be just fine! We could save lots of money without going into the parks (and no dining plan this time). We could just smell the GHC, swim in the volcano, watch the MK from afar, and drink and eat at Tambu and/or CC's. Sounds like a vacation. Long weekend?! Christmas present? (not a hint, or anything ;))

They are so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are very glad she found us, too. She is very sweet and so are the kids. I think Lily thought my DH was one of the funniest characters she met all week! ;) We are sad we missed you, but there's always next time! Hope you had a great night in MK.

Hi, neighbor! Thank you for calling my TR well-updated and thorough! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

We are feeling SOME blues, but we are also freaking out about all we have to do in the next several weeks, with DD going off to college for her first year, DS starting his football camp (he's on the HS varsity team, HUGE time commitment), and DH and I hitting the ground running at work. I have 2 4-shift weeks in a row (I work 12-hour night shifts, usually 3 per week); this week and the next I'm doing 4 nights in a row :scared1:. That whole bedlam starts tonight! So there hasn't been much time to feel blue.

HPN is a fantastic airport, we use it whenever the flight schedule allows.

Have a fabulous trip! We are so jealous! Please report back how it goes.

Oh, you guys are just awesome!:grouphug: And that is so adorable of your DS to check our flight for us! (We probably should have done that ourselves before we got on the ME bus ;)). You must be very, very proud of your beautiful, sweet and thoughtful kids. And we know that the apple never falls far from the tree! :thumbsup2:

We so enjoyed meeting you, too, and we hope our paths cross again.

And we are praying for your doggie!

We came home to our shower leaking into the basement. So weird...

Hoping our next trip (simultaneously together, at The Poly, of course) is not so far away. :thumbsup2

How about the Fantasyland Grand Opening in December? Only we won't go to Fantasyland at all. We'll just hang out at the Tambu? ;)

Thanks for the tip on the fridge. Gonna stick to a half-galloon for now. If we need more, we can always "run out". But better to run out than over-buy. :thumbsup2:

How abundant were ice machines? One on every floor in every long house? Or just one on every long house?

Sorry you are back to work already....if it helps I'm doing 4 nights in a row starting tonight  I worked Monday night as well...:faint:

Dani is SO SWEET, and the kiddos are the funniest...and yes!!! next time!!!!

So the bags are all packed, except for our overnight one that is the only one we intend to use tonight at the CR. We will put our last minute items in there when we're done with them this morning. Hula Eeyore is all ready to go!!!

:lmao: Love Eeyore all decked out in his grass skirt! Been away for a while and trying to catch up on all my threads and I'm especially excited to read about your adventures, even though they're no longer "live". I hope you all had a wonderful time. Now I'm off to do some serious reading ... :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I missed this while it was live but it looks like you had a great trip. The view from your hotel room was amazing!

I love hula Eeyore! Now I'm going to check in on your dining reviews.

I believe there are ice machines on every floor of every longhouse. There was and ice machine and a vending machine directly across the hall from our room, near the elevator bank in Samoa. I'm not sure where they place the ice machines in Niue, since it doesn't have an elevator, but I can't imagine the building being without ice machines. :thumbsup2

I feel your pain! My work week killed me this week! I haven't quite recovered completely yet and I have to start the cycle again on Tuesday! :sad2:

You sound really sweet, too, and seriously, I hope we do meet soon! :goodvibes

Thank you! We had an AMAZING time! It's so hard to come back to reality. One week from today, we will be unpacking DD into her dorm room! We all have some majorly mixed emotions about that one! Happy reading! :goodvibes

Yes, so true! I was talking about the Poly view because that is our dream resort but the CR view was breathtaking as well! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

After reading your post about the Trek I scurried to google but came across this alarming item::scared1:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2952325&highlight=wild+africa+trek

Was this mentioned to you and your Trek mates?

On our way walking to our "base camp" where we would be outfitted, I asked our leader, Aaron, about the problem. He assured me that there would be plenty of hand sanitizer, and that the number of guests reporting illnesses was an extremely small number a while ago. He added that they had received no complaints from recent treks.

There is a bridge crossing (quite safe as you are tethered into a Class III harness) that requires you to be in regular contact with rope hand rails. This is immediately before you journey on to the boma overlooking the savanna. I believe the problem might have been due to some guests not cleaning their hands after crossing the bridge, and then eating the snack. In any case, there was plenty of hand sanitizer, as well as a full bathroom, available at the boma.

I will leave the reveal of the contents of the snack to iloveeeyore's dining report. However, the containers and transport of the snack made me feel very comfortable about Disney's food handling and preparation.

Without spoiling the dining report, I would say that this Disney "add-on" might just be the best extra money I have ever spent. We just received a CD in the mail with the pictures that Disney took for us (and of us) on the trek. Incredible. I would do this trek again in a heartbeat.

We will  I know it!!!!! Would you also happen to be a nurse???? I may have missed it somewhere...usually only us crazy nurses work 4 nights in a row :rolleyes1

Yes, so true! I was talking about the Poly view because that is our dream resort but the CR view was breathtaking as well! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Of the two views, we enjoyed the GV at the Poly more! It was a bonus that it was less than half the price!

We will  I know it!!!!! Would you also happen to be a nurse???? I may have missed it somewhere...usually only us crazy nurses work 4 nights in a row :rolleyes1

I was going to ask you the same thing, but I realized that there are lots of other people who work nights...toll collectors, law enforcement agents, suicide hotline operators, exotic dancers, etc....occasionally even doctors! :rotfl: But I guess they don't do 4 in a row! :rotfl2:

Yes I am a nurse! I work the night shift at a community hospital about 20 minutes from my home. The floor I work on is a Pediatric/short-stay surgical unit, and we see quite a mixed bag of patients, from aesthetics to hysterectomies and mastectomies, to laparascopic abdominal procedures, even gastric sleeves! I'm going to the Magnet Conference in LA in October, are you?
