Random Acts of Disney Kindness

I love passing on what our family calls BLESSINGS and in the past when we go to DW we purchase glowsticks-Disney pens and fat markers(for autograph books), we also find coloring books and crayons , little Disney reading books and little disney related toys most from the local $$ store and love to hand these out to small children(only after asking the parents first:)...plus we always decorate our window usually Christmas time and when we check out we take them down and pass them on to someone checking in that has children so they too can enjoy them.
Such small in expensive items can brighten a child or their parents day.
Not to mention my DH and I's day by seeing their smiles:love:

So this Dec. if you see a very happy smiling lady and her DH giving out little BLESSINGS it will more than likely be me:rolleyes1

I just read this whole thread and now I'm sitting here all teary eyed. Wonderful stories, everyone. Thank you so much for sharing. :goodvibes

The other day I was at the caramel shop in Germany. The lady in front of my was buying treats for all of her grandchildren. She was trying to decide what to get for herself, and I mentioned I had been craving the chocolate/caramel covered strawberry for WEEKS. She decided to get it, and we talked for a little bit in line. At the cash register, all of her grandkids were saying thank you, so I threw in a thank you so I wouldn't be left out. We laughed and she told me to throw my strawberry in and she'd pay for it! I couldn't do it-even though it was a SUPER nice gesture, I just felt bad. It wasn't what I was going for, but I thanked her anyway. I saw her a little later and said thank you again for the thought, and she thanked me for suggesting the strawberry! I love nice people :)

Aww...so sweet!:flower3: (Seriously, the first thing that popped into my head! No pun intended!)

We were walking through Fantasyland on our first family trip back in June 2010. It was later in the evening and my DH was leading us as we went to Mickey's Philharmagic for the 2nd time in the day (the kids LOVED that show!). DH has his baseball cap on backwards and had his 1st visit pin on his hat. About 5 castmembers came running up to us and said "Hi guys Mickey Mouse asked us to deliver this to you for your very first visit here" and they all started clapping and congratulating us on our first visit. They gave us this GIANT sundae! It had a sugar cookie, a full brownie sundae, a full strawberry shortcake, an ice cream cone and like 6 different kinds of ice cream. My kids were awestruck and totally in ice cream heaven. It was so unexpected and nice, talk about a magic moment!

My kids also got a magic moment when we were in a gift shop and a handicap young man who was a castmember took my kids aside and asked them to pick out a silly band each from his collection and gave them a little certificate for their magic moment with him. It was very cute and my kids just thought he was great! We also got surprise fast passes for Mickey's Philharmagic when we got our fast passes for Winnie the Pooh.

We spread some magic by passing on some fastpasses that we couldn't use for Soarin' to two different sets of people (3 passes to one family, 2 passes to another). We figured that we'd had some magic spread to us and we wanted to pass it along.

When we were there in August, my younger DD (then 4, now 5) had just hit the 40" mark, so she could go on a whole slew of new rides. One of them was Soarin'. On our first Epcot day, we'd gotten Soarin' FPs for around 7:00. We went through the FP check and waited on line behind another family. My little one, never shy, was talking to them about how excited (but a little scared) she was about riding Soarin', as she had been for most of the new rides she'd been on. We talked with them for the ~10 minutes it took for us to get through to the ride.

On the way out, we happened to run into them again. The mother asked if my DD liked the ride, and she couldn't stop talking about how much she loved it.

The mother then said, with a smile, "Do you want to ride it again?", and handed us 4 FPs.

We managed to pay it forward a day or two later. We had previously been on TSM earlier in the week for an advertised 50 minute wait that was actually 25 minutes. We tried it again a second time, but the 70 minute wait was actually 70 minutes. We had FPs for a window that started 5 minutes after we got off, and handed them to an exasperated mother who was just telling her 3 kids that there was no way she was waiting for over an hour.

Love those kind of stories...But someday, your child will realize that they are being set up, and just stick out their hand!:rotfl: Just kidding!

We live a few hours from WDW, so we go fairly often. We planned a grand gathering with my extended family in late Sept 2011 to attend MNSSHP for the first time. My dh, who is in the Air Force, ended up not being able to come due to work conflicts. I was bummed, but that's just how military life is sometimes.

The morning of our MNSSHP, we were just lazing around GF, resting up for our big party night. I ran out to my car to gather up the pirate costumes my ds(3) and I would be wearing. As I crossed the valet area in front of GF, I looked up and saw a car that looked just like my dh's driving up....then realized it WAS my dh's! He had gotten last minute leave to come attend MNSSHP with us. He was trying to surprise me, but I wandered outside at the wrong time. I was so overwhelmed and just started crying right there in the middle of the GF valet pick-up! My dh is deployed a lot and our lives can be really stressful sometimes, so the fact that he went to all that trouble after a long, hard work week was really moving, especially since he had to get up SO early to drive down.

Since it was a Friday, I thought I would just check to see if we could extend our trip a few nights through the weekend. I didn't expect to, since it was the Food and Wine Marathon weekend AND the MK 40th celebration that weekend. I also figured that even if there was availability, it would be very pricey. However, the Cast Member (Kirsten) working the desk worked for a long time on us and not only got us another night, but it was in our same room AND at the same awesome military rate we already had. It was a Disney miracle! She could have easily charged us $600+, but didn't.

We had such a great unexpected visit, enjoyed a 1900 Fare character breakfast and had, most importantly, some much needed family time.

When my stepdaughter was little she had cancer. Things did not look good, and we were offered a "Make a Wish". We declined, as we wanted to let the MAW go to another child since we could afford to bring her to Disney on our own dime. A few years later she was doing better and we brought her to Port Orleans. Disney had a bunch of characters come right to our room to greet her and give her gifts. She was delighted!

Now she is 23, doing fine, and studying to be a nurse. I'm sorry to say that she is not a big Disney fan any longer, but we are!

MouseEarsForAll...thank you for starting this thread. I love reading about people's positive experiences :).

On our first trip to Disney back in 2007 we stayed at the Poly and upon checking in the CM at the check in brought my son (then 7) behind the counter to help us check in like he was her little assistant. We have it all in photos and on video and he even wrote a little memory about it in school for Thanksgiving the following year. It was such a simple thing but it started a most memorable trip for all of us and after 3 more trips to Disney remains one of our most cherished memories! It also helped spread a little pixie dust on our whole family to always do the little things and pass on:surfweb: a little Disney magic whenever we can :surfweb:

I have a story that still brings tears to my eyes. Our DS (8 at the time, now 10) is profoundly deaf, he hears with the aid of Cochlear Implants and does wonderful! However, the 9 months prior to our trip was pretty rough on him. He had unfortunately had 2 device failures back to back only 9 months apart. To say we were devastated would have been understatement. He had his second surgery 3/22/10...we were scheduled to go to Disney World for Easter that year (had it scheduled for about 10 months) His doctors gave us the clear to go as long as we didn't let him swim. NO biggie...we just enjoyed the parks more! We were at MK in the morning and was going on Big Thunder Mountain (one of his favorite rides) On these rides we do not allow him to wear his Cochlear Implants because of the great risk of them falling off and getting lost. Well Mommy had a great idea to let him try it. I had just felt that he missed out on so much lately and I wanted to truly experience this ride (sound and ALL) Well I knew I should have listened to my mothers intuition. Don't you know DS implant did indeed fly off. :scared1: I was mortified...It was our first day there...To make a long story short I just felt awful, that feeling of...what on earth was I thinking. Anyone with a child with disability can understand. I just wanted him to finally be able to experience things fully. Well the amazing general manager of the ride got the OK to shut the ride down completely (all this was happening while DH was running back to the hotel to get another implant) and look for DS implant. I thought it was literally like finding a needle in a haystack! Well abut 1 1/2 hrs later I got a call on my cell phone from the general manager. He had FOUND DS implant! :worship: :worship: :worship:It was still all in one piece and working wonderfully! The rest of our day was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed the MK. Upon coming back to our resort we found a bunch of balloons and a autograph card from many characters....Inside it said " We hope you enjoy the rest of your stay, Your friends in Frontierland" HOW WONDERFUL. We didn't expect that all! Absolutely will never forget that and how special it made our DS feel!

We were visiting MK for the day with our 2 year old back in April. I witnessed two CM acts of kindness. One was at the candy shop. A CM approached 3 little girls that were sisters and asked each of them what their favorite color was and filled a bag with m&m's of their 3 favorite colors and gave it to them to enjoy. We were waiting in the hat shop for Mickey ears to be embroidered and a CM came up to a just married couple with 2 fancy cupcakes and said they were from the baker to congratulate them. Can't wait to see more RAOK and do some myself when we go in November!

one of the MK photgrapers was taking pictures of my DS and I, after he took a couple pictures of the 2 of us he said "COme here lil guy" hold your hand out, and he took 2 or 3 pictures of my son, I had no idea what he was doing, but when I got home and looked at my photo pass , in those pictures was a little Tinkerbell sitting in his hand, my son loved it.......

Then on the Buzz ride one of our pictures came out really good, and the CM liked it so much she have us a Photo pass of it instead of buying one, i guess ridint it 15 times we finally saw where the camera's were and struck a nice pose......LOL

We always try to pass on extra fast passes we have and are unable to use. It's funny the reactions you get from very grateful to what do you want from me, lol!
Anyway, our magical moment occurred 3 years ago on our family trip ...everyone was cranky and having a hard time getting ready for our 8am ADR at TH. My DH hates to be running behind and everyone was snapping at each other and it looked like we were going to be late. As we pulled thru the gate at the AK parking lot a Cast Member handed us a certificate and said, "I'd like to give you a magical moment, you may park in the first parking spot in the front of the lot that are specially marked" I said out loud "Thank you soooo much we needed a magical moment more than you know!" Because of that act of kindness we were on time and everyone lightened up so we enjoyed our day.

It was something so simple, but I so appreciated how it turned our bad morning into a great day.

Bear in mind, this was a while ago but DS who is now 17 was 4 at the time and we were there in late May and it was hot and he wasn't the best with motion and the bus and we had made the fatal mistake of giving him powdered sugar donuts and choc milk for breakfast and were on the way to rope drop at AK when his tummy didn't want to take it any longer. He was in my lap and good mom that I am I whipped off my $20 Mickey hat and his breakfast went in auto reverse on the bus from Dixie Landings (told you it was a long time ago) that stopped at Blizzard Beach on the way to AK.

We hopped off as soon as possible (and I STILL offere my abject apologies to those of you who were offended but whatcha gonna do? A 4YO is barfing and you do what you can) We hopped off at Blizzard Beach which didn't open til 10 and found these wonderful CM's (Joe and Susie) who were sweeping up trash and told hem we had a problem. They radioed in and opened the front gates for us and gave us two beach towels and took us to the family bathroom where DS and I could shower and clean up.

THEN they opened a gift shop early so DH could buy DS and I clean clothes and a clean hat for me. (that was garbage. I assure you!) After we were cleaned up we were escorted to first aid where they gave DS a Mickey straw and some gator aid and let him lay down and cool off and regain his tummy before they gave him some Mickey stickers, signed his autograph book and took us behind the scenes and put us on a bus that took us directly to the gate at AK.

AND...they sent our disgusting clothing back to our room at Dixie Landings. Something I dreaded and fussed at DH for authorizing but apparantly they wash a bunch of beach towels at BB anyway and they ran our items through the laundry . They arrived back at DL clean and folded. Granted that was 13 years ago. I have no idea if they'd do that now but I wtas SOOOOO grateful.

I have some very sweet pics of him sipping gatorade in first aid at BB and we wrote mutliple letters praising those wonderful CMs who helped us in our time of need. We called the managers at BB and AK at the time too and made sure letters of commendation were in their files.

And we have been in love with the service at WDW ever since. Wouldn't you be? Yeah...it's a little gross but it's Disney service and we're customers for life as the result.

An aside...we went to BB the following year and asked if those CM's were working...they were and remembered us and thanked us for being so vigilant for making sure they were recognized.
