Me and my wife are going to POR in December 9-15. Do the boats back and forth from POR to DTD run year round? THANKS!

Yes. In cooler weather you will need a jacket. We were comfortable walking around DTD but when we rode the boat back to POFQ we were freezing.

GirlDreamer. Why not write on a little note (please don't mention the tour, it's a surprise) and sneekily hand it to the check-in person. ;)

Love the note idea :-) anyone know an email address plse for pofq. We r from the uk so i prefer to email, rather than call.

Sorry, there is no publically accessible general email address for the resort. If you don't want to phone them, you can send a fax though. Phone calls from the UK are cheap enough if you use a prefix dialling code though (I use www.telediscount.co.uk - no registration needed, and calls from the UK to the US cost 1p/minute)

If you do phone, make sure you ask to be connected to someone on-site at the resort if your question cannot be answered by the central call centre which screens all incoming calls.

M wife and I are staying at the French Quarter 28th October - 12th November, I can't wait. It's a holiday for our first wedding anniversary so I'm looking at ways to make it really special. I'm loving this forum it has so many great ideas.

Don't count on it. I had booked a carriage ride to surprise dh on our anniversary. We had done online check in but then when we spoke with the person to get our paperwork, he said, "And I see you have a carriage ride scheduled for the 23rd, don't forget that if you don't cancel with 24 hours your credit card will still be charged." That ended surprising dh. Maybe you could send DBF on an errand while you take care of check in.

Thank you for the heads up! Will have to think about if I should use the note idea, or to ask him to wait with the bags or something :P Does he need to be there for check in though? I managed to get his name as the main one on the reservation as I put his name in first...

I have a random question - I'm one of those people who are obsessed with hotel soap and shampoo and I know Art of Animation and Pop have gotten the new bottles with the Mickey ears and I was wondering if anyone who has been recently could tell me if they have the new shampoo or the still the same blue shampoo bottle and round white soap? Maybe have a picture to post? Thanks!

My DD and I were at POFQ July 14 - July 22nd. My DD has a way to get Mousekeeping to give her a box of Soap and Shampoo before we leave the resort. This is what they offer as of the week we were there.

Question, Noticed you are from Arkansas. What part? I graduated from UA at Fayettville. I may live in Texas but I truly am a Razorback Hog..... Forever and ever.....

Care to share the technique she uses to get a box?

DD walks up to Mousekeeping office with the box and shares with them we are leaving today and can I have 25 shampoo, 25 facial soap and 25 blue bag soaps. They asked her this time what room are you in? She tells them and the Mousekeeping Supervisor told her let me have the box and I will knock on your door in 30 minutes. Low and Behold Mousekeeping comes back with the box full. DD gives her 10.00 and thanks her.

DD has done this the past few years and gets away with it. I do not have the nerve to ask because I know they will just say no like they are supposed to.

I currently live in the Hot Springs area. Thanks for the info! That's quite a haul!

Once time my hubby asked for a few extra coffee packets (before they started the Keurig pods) and they brought him a whole garbage bag of coffee packets!!!
:rotfl2:

my understanding is that the boat stops on the east end and you can get on another boat to take you over to the west end. We have reservations at House of Blues so we were going to take the boat over and then walk back to the pier to get back to POFQ

I thought I read this awhile ago somewhere else....can anyone else confirm that you can transfer to another boat for the West End?

Last year we took the boat but the walked ALL the way over to Wolfgang Puck o a hot August evening (walking into the sun). It felt like we were walking on the sun, no joke.

I know Hot Springs very well. I used to live in Little Rock in the Pleasant Valley area, I went to Central High School. We visited our relatives living on Lake Hamilton, they had a house right on the lake. Sue and David Stone, David was a lawyer for the Government, Both passed away many years ago...

You can get off the Port Orleans boat and then join the second line on the same dock for the internal Downtown Disney water taxi, which will take you over to DTD West Side, yes.

(I'd love to be able to transfer to/from the West End too by the way, but that's in London England :) )

:cool1:Staying at POFQ November 23-December 2, I would love to do the Dessert party with my mother. Do you know when the November reservations will be opening up? I read that the reservations open up in the afternoon, do they sell out fast as I will be at work?

I just returned last night from 4 nights at POFQ.....Here are a few random facts for anyone needing them:

Rooms: We had three rooms booked Garden View, and had requested first floor, but were thrilled to be given three rooms 1st floor (with two of them connecting and the other one adjacent) in Building 6 River View. (6133, 6134 and 6135 to be exact). They were just steps from the fire pit (for the marshmallow roast) and around the corner from the nightly movie. In about 10 visits to POFQ and having stayed in lots of different buildings/floors/rooms, these were our most favorite rooms!

Buses: 1st day to EPCOT @ 5 p.m. shared the bus with Riverside
2nd day to HS @ 8 a.m. shared the bus with Riverside
3rd day to MK @ 8 a.m. did not share with Riverside
4th day to Animal Kingdom shared with Riverside ( and dropped off and picked up at Blizzard Beach both ways.)
5th day To Polynesian @ 8 a.m.; the driver dropped off one family at the TTC for their breakfast reservation at the Contemporary, then took us directly to the Polynesian for our reservation. (There were no other passengers on the bus)
We did not share any buses on any of our return trips from the parks.

Pool: Was great for the first 4 days, then was closed on the fifth day. According to cm's the pump "blew up" overnight, and it would be a major repair. The lifeguards drove families up to Riverside via golf cart which was a nice way to go! But of course the pool there then was very crowded with guests from both resorts so we only stayed about an hour, then had another golf cart ride.

Food: We only ate twice at French Quarter, but were happy with both the "make your own" salad the first time, and the dinner options as well (pot roast, and fried chicken were both very good. But are favorite quick service meal was Downtown at Wolfgang Puck's... the roasted vegetable pizza was amazing.

Housekeeping: was good the first few days, but they skipped two of our rooms on the fourth day, and we had to call for them to service the room about 5 p.m. They did do a good job though, and left one towel bunny.

Weather: Hot but not unbearable, with an occasional storm that never lasted too long.

Parks: Never felt overly crowded to us, and we only ran into the infamous tour groups at Magic Kingdom. They filled the entire bus queue area so that it was very difficult to get past them to our bus lines, and of course their loud chanting was not what anyone wanted to hear on leaving the park at 10:30 p.m.

Observations: Love POFQ and can't wait to go back again!
