I'm a Disneyland vet headed to WDW for the 1st time. It's always been a financial thing, not a "I don't want to go" thing for me.
Anyways, my standards are pretty low, but i'll be checking-in in about 36 hours and I'll see how the meals taste. I plan to only eat breakfast at POP, but if the crowds get as intense and annoying as it sounds, maybe i'll just head to the parks to eat. I'd rather spend as much time in the parks enjoying the attractions and scenery. Since i'm only planning on eating counter service, the food will be there so that I have the energy to keep moving, lol.
This is my 3rd day and I've been out at the parks so much that I've yet to get to the food court or get a refillable mug - tonight I remembered Pop is famous for the tie-dye cheesecake and I've yet to get any!
There's definitely a big kids group here, in the lobby they have a separate check-in area with signs all over the place saying its for Varsity Competition check-in.
My DD 10 and DD 8 are looking forward to their PoP! waffles soon. The end of May will not get here fast enough! We have been watching a Disney movie every night since we hit 30 days out!
The food court at POP Is super good!,ok IMO(I admit i see everything through the Mouses sunglasses, sorry) i have not eaten anything there that I would say was,i would not try again. We get off to such a early start we hardly ever notice the crowds In the food court. It seems after 7am the folks start to build up in the food court, we have not eaten there for Breakfast that much but will try it more this trip, any food suggestions?. I am trying to convert my self to a CS person, its not going so well. I am thinking of doing a CS lunch with a TS dinner.
We got unexpected Pixie Dust today when we checked in : the same fantastic room we had last stay! In the 50's, top floor, and the next room over is preferred
Weve stayed at Pop a few times over the years. I never asked but they used to have a frozen coke machine near soda machines few years ago. anyone know why or when exactly they took it out? My boys loved it!

So Disney decided to just remove it instead of fixing it or replacing it with a newer model. Kind of like the Goofy POP Jets that are no more ... and then we have AOA getting the great splash kids area (which is wonderful for AOA guests), you wonder why Disney wouldn't/couldn't fix/update the POP jets... it seems that the answer is just to take it away. Unique things to POP too... Guess this falls under "remember when" concept that is POP. Oh well, I still love the POP!!
Janet, stitchlovestink!! I've miss ya....and our seasoned POPer is set to pop back again.... oh what a great life!!
Actually the new menu took effect at 6am on May 1.They completely changed the menu at POP today and got rid of the Moms nite out entrees
Wow...I'm sorry to hear that you think the food is just 'meh.' I know for a fact that the Chefs have worked VERY hard and put in MANY extra hours working on the new menus. This was something that did not happen overnight. They came up with different 'dishes' and then had guests actually sample them. I 'tested' a few back in January. And quite frankly, what I had was PHENOMENAL!!! And I told them that in the review I wrote. I would have bought it TWICE! I still crave it. Actually, I'm going to get the recipe because unfortunately, it didn't make the final cut which was the 'Mickey Check'. Now everything must pass this which has requirements for 'healthy' grade. I know why the dish I loved didn't pass, and honestly, I think the reason is silly, but it's Disney's choice...sigh!!!Anyone there right now finding that the food at POP is a bit so-so these days? I'm just trying to figure out if the food is just not the right fit for my group or if standards have been sliding a bit lately. I gave it the honest try over the past couple of days (and tried a bunch of different things over breakfast/lunch/dinner) and found it to be very 'meh'.
Yup, Janet, I head out in less than 36 hours. Hoping to eat a few meals at POP!! Will give a dining review here!!Hielostar, sorry that the food has just been so-so (can't wait to get to POP and try it out myself ) We tradionally do not eat a lot of meals at POP... breakfasts mostly (and we love the chocolate croissants!), and snacks in the evening (we are more park people and eat our CS out). Will be interesting to read what other POPers think...(and we do have several POPers heading out this month and next).
Looks like we will be there at the same time!I'm a Disneyland vet headed to WDW for the 1st time. It's always been a financial thing, not a "I don't want to go" thing for me.

But anyway, I just find it sad, to hear you say this when I know how hard they have worked and how well they do their job. POP has one (if not the best) resort food courts out there!!

I wouldn't stress. Weekday crowds (esp this time of year) should not be THAT bad in the food court. And you have to try the Mickey waffles!
I will be there on Monday... I plan on trying a few things this week.
I go back for 12 days/11 nights in June, and will be trying some other items then... I will be happy to report back what I think of what I try!

Yes, as sad as that is...it does seem like that's what they do. I also heard though, that they were getting some flack and the All Stars wanted Frozen Drink machines. So when they kept having it break so much, they decided to just get rid of it entirely and then they didn't have to hear the All Stars mgrs complain either!
No it def had coke flavor it was dh favorite. Such a shame.
How's the weather, is it still raining? We check in in 4 days. Is has rained her at home for about 2 months straight. I am really looking forward to some sunshine.
hmmm....maybe they changed it at some point but it was originally blue raspberry. Because I remember that!
Hi Everyone, we stayed at POP for the first time in August and loved it, mainly because there is only one bus stop, unlike the All-Stars that share buses (the All-Stars being our usual value resort).
So this got me thinking, we all love POP, but what are your reasons that you love POP so much more than the other values, and maybe even all of the other resorts as well!?
I'm here. First time at Pop, WDW and Florida.
