Hey there! If you read my ptr 'Let us see what Squirt does flying solo: now with mum too!' then welcome back, if not then welcome! In case you are new I'll introduce you to the cast:
There we are! I'm Nina (the one on the right) and I'm 19 and that's my mum Marion (the one on the left). This is a coach trip that included a day in Paris and two days in Disneyland. It was wonderful and exhausting. The trip was from August 3rd - August 6th (yes we got back this morning, so I apologise in advance if I sound slightly manic). Rightyho, thats enough of the intro, lets get this party started!
Day 1 - Getting There
Our journey started at the station where we were waiting for the 9:30pm train into London. We had, of course, completely over estimated the time it would take to get to the station and were there just before 9. We sat on the platform and soon an announcement came over the speakers saying the the earlier train in was delayed. Guess what this meant for us?? Yep, more waiting. Luckily, it was only ten minutes or so late and it was not a stopper. We got into London Liverpool Street at about 10:20pm which gave us over an hour to get over to London Victoria which was our pick up point (we had factored in the crowds leaving various games into our plans). Once there we went to Vauxhall Bridge Road where we found a small crowd of tired looking families and groups. Bingo! We found the correct spot. The coach was supposed to be picking us up at 11:30pm. Well, 11:30pm came and went and no coach. Eventually at about midnight it pulled up. Our driver jumped out with the steward called John and loaded everyone's luggage. We decided not to load our backpacks on because they're quite small. This was a mistake. Our seats were right at the front with a small sort of wall in front of us; with our bags down there too we had hardly any footspace. Off we drove and at the Maidstone service station we met Chris who would be our driver for the rest of the trip. I dozed on and off until we got to Dover. We had half an hour until boarding so we went and got a hot chocolate from a Costa's inside the little service station and hung around because it was quite cold and windy outside!
The ferry took about an hour and a half to get to Calais and as soon as we hit the road and the lights were turned out I was asleep. I next woke up when we pulled into a service station at about 8am. Chris told us that seeing as everyone was awake, we would stop here for 45 minutes or so to freshen up and get breakfast. Later on mum said that before we pulled in he was really fidgity and not exactly keeping the coach in a straight line on the road almost to the point of her recommending that he pull over. It felt so nice to be in fresh clothes! I had a croissant and mum had a danish whirl. Soon it was time to get back on the coach and go to Paris!
