There we are! I'm Nina (the one on the right) and I'm 19 and that's my mum Marion (the one on the left). This is a coach trip that included a day in Paris and two days in Disneyland. It was wonderful and exhausting. The trip was from August 3rd - August 6th (yes we got back this morning, so I apologise in advance if I sound slightly manic). Rightyho, thats enough of the intro, lets get this party started!

Day 1 - Getting There

Our journey started at the station where we were waiting for the 9:30pm train into London. We had, of course, completely over estimated the time it would take to get to the station and were there just before 9. We sat on the platform and soon an announcement came over the speakers saying the the earlier train in was delayed. Guess what this meant for us?? Yep, more waiting. Luckily, it was only ten minutes or so late and it was not a stopper. We got into London Liverpool Street at about 10:20pm which gave us over an hour to get over to London Victoria which was our pick up point (we had factored in the crowds leaving various games into our plans). Once there we went to Vauxhall Bridge Road where we found a small crowd of tired looking families and groups. Bingo! We found the correct spot. The coach was supposed to be picking us up at 11:30pm. Well, 11:30pm came and went and no coach. Eventually at about midnight it pulled up. Our driver jumped out with the steward called John and loaded everyone's luggage. We decided not to load our backpacks on because they're quite small. This was a mistake. Our seats were right at the front with a small sort of wall in front of us; with our bags down there too we had hardly any footspace. Off we drove and at the Maidstone service station we met Chris who would be our driver for the rest of the trip. I dozed on and off until we got to Dover. We had half an hour until boarding so we went and got a hot chocolate from a Costa's inside the little service station and hung around because it was quite cold and windy outside!
The ferry took about an hour and a half to get to Calais and as soon as we hit the road and the lights were turned out I was asleep. I next woke up when we pulled into a service station at about 8am. Chris told us that seeing as everyone was awake, we would stop here for 45 minutes or so to freshen up and get breakfast. Later on mum said that before we pulled in he was really fidgity and not exactly keeping the coach in a straight line on the road almost to the point of her recommending that he pull over. It felt so nice to be in fresh clothes! I had a croissant and mum had a danish whirl. Soon it was time to get back on the coach and go to Paris!

Day 2 - We're in Paris baby!

Hey there! So, last night I stopped just after our rest stop. The coach drove us to Paris which was about an hour away I think. Once in the city we had the choice of a guided bus and boat tour costing £12 or going off on our own. Since we had never been to Paris before we decided on the tour, plus it was a great price! Our first photo stop was the Trocadero, which is actually a museum, but the reason we stopped was because it has the best view of the Eiffel Tower. I mean look at it:

Back on coach we continued our tour. Chris said that as we were a bit later into Paris than he hoped, that we wouldn't be getting off at many of the stops and that he would try and make sure that we could get some good pictures out of the windows.

Our next photo point was the Arc de Triomph:

015.jpg

Apparently everyone has to give way to you when you drive onto that road.

016.jpg

This rather picturesque road is the Champs de Elysee. It was prettier in person; I couldn't get a good enough shot out of the bus window. We drove past this temple like building, I forget what it was called (in my defence I was still sleepy) but it was very nice.

017.jpg

Next up was Napoleon's tomb:

018.jpg

019.jpg

Sorry that its sideways; I haven't figured out how to rotate in photobucket yet. I'm sure we saw more things than that on the tour, but that is all of the photos that I took. We were driven to the boat next and went up to the top deck for our tour. Unfortunately I can't tell you anything about the pictures I took; I was almost falling asleep on the boat and the information was repeated in about five different languages including English and I couldn't take it in:

020.jpg

It started rain at about this point so everyone escaped to the lower deacks, where it cleared up completely (of course).

I can tell you that this is Notre Dame!

029.jpg

It was a good tour and I would recommend it, just not after an all night journey on a coach. Afterwards we met our driver again and he drove us to a spot near the Eiffel Tower and told us to meet him there at four. By now it was about half one and we were starving! Well, mum was anyway. I was feeling so knackered that I wasn't if that makes sense? We walked in the direction that Chris told us we'd find food and tucked in between an expensive restuarant and a touristy shop, was a lovely little sandwich place. After some deliberation we decided on a toasted chicken salad baguette each with an orange juice and a water. They were really nice! No pictures I'm afraid, mum wolfed hers down and I ate most of mine. After that we needed to find a loo. That was the most ridiculous hunt ever. In the park type area around the Eiffel Tower we saw about four different signs pointing in different directions, but could find no toilet. We criss crossed that park for ages. When we eventually did find a loo it was absolutely disgusting; the toilet bowl was full, the flush didn't work, there was no water in the taps, the floor was filthy and there was no light so it was pitch black in there. Mum decided to take a picture of me in front of the tower, but just as I was posing it started to pour:

557295_489826347713357_304144158_n.jpg

Luckily we had bought some cheap umbrellas from Tesco the day before for this very purpose. We still had to shelter under some trees in spite of them though:
376326_489826684379990_805262544_n.jpg

We had hoped to go up the Tower, but it was quarter past 3 now and the queue just to buy tickets was humungous. So, slightly damp, we headed back to the coach. Once everyone was aboard, John put 'Up' on the dvd player and we drove out of Paris to our hotel, which was an Ibis. There were a lot of bad reviews of this hotel on TripAdvisor which worried us a bit, but it was absolutely fine. It was obviously old, but the room was spotless. Exactly what we needed; I mean we were only going to sleep in it. No photos of the room I'm afriad. I just completely forgot! When we got tour room we literally fell on the beds and slept for about 2 hours straight. The next thing I knew, mum was shaking me awake saying that it was almost 7 and that we needed to go and get something to eat. I was so half asleep that I didn't feel well, but agreed. Just outside of the hotle gates was a bistro, a steak place and a pizza pasta restuarant. We chose the pizza place and it was the best decision ever. We saw some other people from our trip and they looked all clean and dressed up; obviously we were the only ones who hadn't showered . Still, the food was great: I ordered the spaghetti bolognese with an apple juice and it was delicious! Mum had a spinach ravioli with orange juice and she said it was perfect. We didn't linger, just stayed to eat and then went back to the hotel where we changed into our pjamas and fell straight asleep.
Next up! Disneyland!!!

Sounds like a great trip so far, but sightseeing in Paris after a nights drive is quite hard!!!

Argh! I was halfway through this when the page refreshed itself and I lost everything!
Disneyland Parc

The alarm woke us up at about 7:30. I can't exactly say that we bounced out of bed full of enthusiasm and vigour...but we were up pretty quickly once we remembered what was waiting for us and saw the sun shining outside. We showered and got ready, then went down for breakfast. Iit was pretty nice, continental style: there was cold meat, cheese, cake, pastries, cereal, mini pancakes, fruit, yoghurt and a selection of drinks. I chose a couple of mini pancakes, a croissant and apple juice and mum had cereal, a pain au chocolat, breakfast tea and orange juice. I decided that the pancakes were too sickly sweet so just stuck to the croissant. When we were done, we went back to the room to grab our bags and then met everyone at the coach at 9:15. We were off! The journey took around half an hour, during which we saw lots of tantalising signs telling us how much further we had to go. Soon we saw this glorious sign:

030.jpg

We had to wait for a little while for Chris to pick up our tickets (there were 48 of us), but it was nothing compared to the poor people of the National coach trip; they had already been there two HOURS waiting for their tickets! Goodness knows what had gone on there! Chris informed us that he would be doing two pick ups; one at 7pm and one at 10pm because we would be staying until closing the next day. Once we had grabbed our tickets we had one goal: to get to Big Thunder Mountain. We power walked through security and sped down Main Street, wowing at the decorations as they passed in a blur. When we got into Frontierland we saw that the wait time was already 45 minutes so jumped in the queue:

033.jpg

034.jpg

Luckily the time passed pretty quickly and soon we were setting off on the wildest ride in the wilderness! Oh my god, i had forgotten how fun it was! I LOVED all the bits in the dark and was that waterfall at the top of the first hill always there? We were quite keen to ride it again, but the time was up to an hour and I didn't think out tickets got us fastpasses, so we headed through to Adventureland where out next destination awaited us: Pirates of the Caribbean! And with only a 20 minute wait! The queue was a bit crazy; a lot of people seemed to sneak past us. Anyway, soon we were in our boat and got the front seats! Score! It was as great as usual, though I don't remember getting sprayed in that part where you float past the restuarant. By the time we were done it was 12:30 and we decided it was time for lunch. So we made our way out of the park and into the Village:

132.jpg

Mum had the best BLT and I had the cannonballs. They were both very nice, but I had mysteriously lost my appetite :sad2: I don't know why, mum was quite worried at the time, but now we're back and it has returned she thinks it was a mixture of tiredness and excitement; it doesn't take much to upset my stomach (I'm such a child). So while she practically inhaled hers, I could only manage to eat half of mine, very, very slowly. We were sitting outside and had a very good view of Cafe Mickey and some rude children who managed to squeeze through the sun doors which they had opened because of the heat. The worst thing was that their parents did nothing to stop them! Once we were done, we strolled back through the Village and into the new World of Disney store:

035.jpg

Although I thought the artwork and design of the building was gorgeous, I can't say that I was too impressed with what was for sale. There just seemed to be a lot more on offer in the other shops. Our browsing done, we wandered back towards the park, only stopping for a photoshoot:

We went through to Fantasyland and were all set to have a look around Alice's Labyrinth...until we saw the queue was an hour long! Er, no thanks! So I just took some pictures from outside:

049.jpg

And we went on the carousel instead. While we were on, these guys came out:

051.jpg

They played a medley of Disney songs and were really good! The drummers especially; they were so funny doing all these little dances and circling each other back to back. It was great! When they had finished, we had a look around the castle:

052.jpg

053.jpg

054.jpg

057.jpg

Went to see the dragon:

063.jpg

and then had a look around those little shops they have inside. Those glassworks were amazing! The prices however were a little high for our budget. We had been keeping a careful eye on the time and realised that it was almost time for the Tarzan show. Back to Frontierland we went and got seats in the third row up. Unfortunately we were behind one of the poles because the people before us hadn't moved along (for that reason) and we had to squeeze past them. However, the show was just brilliant. The monkeys were perfectly in character and so acrobatic! Tarzan was soooo ripped and very good at the acrobatics too! The Trashin' the Camp scene was done really well; especially the interactive bit with the kids going up. Five stars, I'd definitely recommend it. It was about quarter past 5 when it was finished and we decided to go and get dinner so that we would be back in time for the seven o clock parade. Our dinner destination was the Rainforest Cafe and as usual it didn't disappoint. We were seated immediately right by the elephants and our orders were quickly taken. We both had the Natural Pasta which is:
'Pasta tortiglioni with asparagus, zucchini, bell peppers, mangetout peas, broccoli, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, fresh basil, onions, walnut pesto and parmesan cheese tossed in our Rainforest tomato sauce and garlic cream'. What we didn't anticipate was how enourmous the portion would be! The bowls were full and about the size of a bathroom sink! Even though we plowed through as much as we could it looked like we had hardly touched it! It was a really reasonable price too: only 17.90. After we had paid the bill we waddled back through to the park and grabbed some excellent parade seats: right in front of the train station. I've used up my picture limit for this post so stay tuned for the parade and the rest of our evening.

Missed Out by Accident

Ok so I was reading my earlier post to myself and thought that the afternoon seemed a bit too short. Surely we didn't spend that long in the castle??Then I realised! I missed a whole section out! So, here is the accidentally deleted scene from our afternoon.

We had just come out of Fantasyland and were thinking about what we should do next because we still had a while until the next Tarzan show. Mum suggested that we go to Discoveryland and I agreed because I wanted to ride Star Tours. Mum did too and it would also give her a chance to look for a present for my brother who loves Star Wars. I had the programme of events in my hand and realised that the Character Train was due any minute so we decided to stick around and see it. Soon the magical music started playing and wow; I have never seen a crowd assemble on the pavement so fast. It was like, one minute it was the normal Main Street traffic and then bam! Four rows deep! Here it comes:

064.jpg

066.jpg

067.jpg

069.jpg

070.jpg

I love the music that accompanies this. I hope that they release it. I decided that I would like to meet Minnie in her 20th costume and so we followed her over to her greeting spot. This is where the madness begins. I could barely get near enough to see her. There were people pushing me from behind, people pushing in front of me, it was nuts. I wouldn't have minded if it was children getting in front of me, because I'm sure they would get more enjoyment from it than me, but I had fully grown adults without children pushing in front of me! Mum kept urging me to stand my ground and poked me every time the tiniest gap opened up in front of me but eventually we gave up. Oh well, we had a character dinner the next day anyway. We pushed out of the madness and into Discoverland where we found Star Tours with only a 20 minute wait. It was fun, even though I couldn't understand a word of it I got the gist. Mum searched the dump shop in vain, but could only find two Star Wars t shirts that weren't cartoony kiddy style ones and decided to wait until we had a look in the other Disney Village shops. For now it was time to make our way to the Chaparrel Theatre for Tarzan.

Its Parade Time!

Last time I left off, we were sitting on the kerb outside the train station waiting for the parade. Finally (15 minutes late) the music started and (making sure there were no small children behind us) we stood up. First up were these ladies:

After the parade I had the (not so) bright idea of ducking into the Main Street shops. I was looking for a particular hoodie and so far I hand't found it in my size. Unfortunately none of the Main Street shops had it either so we decided to take our search to the Village where we were also unsucessful. However, I did find a gorgeous Tinkerbell top which I decided to leave until the next day to buy just in case I found something else in the Studios. We browsed for a while, but to be honest we'd both started flagging before the parade and adding that to the fact that I'd hardly eaten all day, I was barely on my feet. So we did the most unDisney thing ever and went into Starbucks. I didn't want anything, so I found us one of those sofas in the back and mum bought a coffee and a cake. We relaxed there until half past nine when we dragged ourselves up and to the coach. There we spent a while sitting on the pavement with another couple of families because although our coach was there, our driver wasn't. Eventually he did get back and took us all back to our hotel where we, once again, fell into bed.

Coming up: Disney Day 2: Studios, Cafe Mickey and DREAMS!

Thanks for the great photos. Where all the shows/parade songs etc in French? Or is there an English translation? Looks like you both had a great time.

No problem thanks for commenting! The parade and character song was in English. The Tarzan show was in both French and English e.g Turk repeated most of her lines in both and the songs in the show were in both languages. Dreams has both French and English parts too. We did have an amazing time.

I'm loving your TR! Sounds like you had a very tiring trip but a great one at that!

Disney makes all that tiredness worth while!

I love the way you and your mum are so close and went together! :)

Can't wait to read the rest of your trip! :cool1:

Studio Fun

We got up at the same time again, showered and went down to breakfast. This time I had cereal and apple juice, mum had cereal, orange juice and tea. Our meet up time was 9:30 today seeing as we had our tickets now so we spent longer over breakfast and then hung around in the room for a while. When on the coach we actually didn't leave until quarter to 10 because some people were really taking their time. Once we were at Disneyland Chris explained that he would definitely be there between 4 and 5pm in case anyone wanted to get anything or drop anything off or just chill out for a while and that the coach would be there at 11pm ready to take us home, though we probably wouldn't leave til midnight to give people a chance to see Dreams and get back.
Me and mum speedwalked to the studios:

Mum had decided that she wanted to go on this ride with me:

117.jpg

The queue was already 50 minutes long but we jumped in anyway. We were stuck behind this group of teens, one of them smoking when there were signs up telling you not to in the queue. Obviously someone caught on though, because a message came on in French and English politely reminding people that they weren't allowed to smoke in the queue. When that didn't work, the voice came on saying more snarkily: "Please put your cigarette out!" Ha! That got through to him! Eventually we reached the head of the queue and were put in the front row! :woohoo: Mum wasn't so happy; she was like "We're not in the front are we? No, no I don't want to be in the front!" I managed to coax her in and we were off! It was AMAZING. I loved every second! Mum did too, though she screamed her head off and kept her eyes squeezed shut. Well, except for one hilarious moment when I heard her screaming: "Oh no! I looked!" :rotfl: It was lunchtime by the time we got off and I was actually hungry! Mum went: "Quick! Lets go and get something while you can eat!" So off we went, though not before looking at the wait times for Parachutes which were 50 minutes or 20 minutes for single rider. We said we would go back and get in that queue later. We went back into the indoor bit with the restuarant that looks like several from the outside. I got menu 3 which is a burger, large chips, soft drink and a choice of a brownie or fruit (I chose fruit) and mum got menu 2 which was a chicken burger, chips and soft drink. We ate up and then had a look in the shop (my euros were burning a hole in my pocket) where I bought an Angel plush and mum got Callum the darth vader t shirt. We also both got one of those fold up Mickey bags. We then realised that a showing of Animagique was about to start and went to see that. Just as cute as I remembered and mum liked it too. It was then onto the art of animation. Unfortunatley as we came out it started to spit so we took cover in the undercover bit. After hanging out for a bit we decided that we didn't really want to go on Parachutes in the rain so headed towards Disneyland Parc (though not before stopping in the shop to look for that hoodie in my elusive size). It started to rain harder as we got to the Diseyland hotel and so we bit the bullet and got a poncho each from the stand outside. To be honest we were now at a bit of a loss of what to do. Then mum had the bright idea of going for a ride on the train; it would keep us dry and be interesting. We queued up and watched the character train. The train got to our stop but the queue didn't move and it just sat there. Eventually we realised that everyone was doing what we wanted to and no one was planning on getting off. So we hopped out of the queue and after some deliberation decided to see if there would be a shorter queue for BTM as it was raining. Well, they had closed it. There was a small crowd clustered outside obviously hoping that it would suddenly open and they could get on and for a while we waited too, but decided to move on as nothing was happening. Back into Fantasyland we went and eventually decided to bite the bullet and queue in the rain for Peter Pan's flight. Oh. My. God. It was in that 40 minute queue that I fully came to appreciate those ponchos. so many people were standing there getting absolutely drenched. I felt really sorry for all of the children that were getting soaked. Children without even a cardigan or jumper to protect them. There was this one little boy in a pirate costume and it was almost see through and sticking to him, he kept trying to pull it off and was crying at how uncomfortable he was. And his parents were just ignoring him! I felt like giving them a piece of my mind! Anyway, eventually we got onto the ride and it was really sweet, but short. I don't think I'd queue up for 40 minutes for it again.
It was about time for the Tarzan show, so we decided to go and see it again as it was so good last time.
I tried to take some pictures but we were stuck behind a pole again (we got moved from the end of the row where we had placed ourselves) and they move around so much!

After it had finished we decided to wander towards the Village as our reservation was at 6:15pm and it was still raining. By now my mum was really sick of the rain because she was wearing sandals and they were feeling disgusting on her feet because they were so sodden. She was thinking about buying a cheap pair of flip flops, so we stopped in the arcade bit so she could look. She did see some but they were a bit expensive, so she decided to wait. On our way to the Village we stopped in the little shop by the exit turnstiles and I found the hoodie in my size! Hooray! We looked in the other shops in the Village for flip flops but it was in vain. We carried on to our dinner destination:

131.jpg

We waited in the small queue and a CM came down the line taking our names and group number. The maitre d called the family in front of us and a Stephens family. No family answered so eventually he came over to us and asked our name. It turned out she had misheard us. We were seated at one of the tables right in front of the kitchen area. I could see Rabbit doing the rounds and then Goofy came out. Rabbit was our first character. He came over, gave me a big hug and posed for a picture:

The waiter came over and took our orders; I ordered the carbonara and mum had the lasagne. Next over was Goofy:

Then to mum's delight he squeezed round the table and sat next to her for a photo.

she patted his head and then he pretended to faint onto the little boy at the table next to us. Minnie came at the same time as our food (there was a near miss when she bumped into the waiter, but luckily he managed to swing the plate away from her)

Before leaving she straightened my ears and adjusted the bow. I have to say that the food was lovely. My mum ate up every last scrap of her lasagne and I ate as much of the carbonara as I could. Mickey came by while we were eating:

He had a photographer with him and stood in the same pose with me for ages while he struggled to make his camera work. I took both of us by surprise and kissed him on the nose. Mum says that she wished I had told her so that she could've taken a picture. Eventually Mickey had to move on so no professional pic for us. Goofy came round again and mimed at me to eat up and then shook his finger at me like I was a naughty child :rotfl:.
Mum ordered dessert: apple pie and a hot choclate. Funny story, she tried to order a coffee and the waiter sort of pulled a face and then said: "The coffee machine, it is broken and I do have another but it does not make good coffee and I would not want to give you bad coffee" so she went for a hot chocolate instead (she just wanted something warm to drink). She liked both but was surprised that the apple pie came cold. It was a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It had mostly stopped raining when we came out, but mum's shoes were still wet, so we went into the rainforest cafe shop and she bought a pair of plain blue flip flops for 4 euros (bargain). I went back into the fashion shop and got the Tinkerbell top that I had had my eye on and got Callum a Darth Vader Goofy and found the 20th Anniversary cd.

We went back to Disneyland Park and after a bit of dithering decided to go check BTM wait times. The sign said 55 minutes but we thought that it must be wrong because we couldn't even see the queue. When we got in we saw that they had added more barriers and made it more twisty turny (maybe so that people could queue out of the rain?) but it still was definitely not 55 minutes. I was so glad that we decided to go on it again; it really woke me up! While we were riding the sun had come out!

We still had a little while until parade spot staking could begin so we went to Aladdins passage.

It was quite sweet, but nothing special. It had gotten quite chilly now so I put on my new hoodie and gave mum my cardigan (she was now wearing two, one on top of the other and her poncho still), I took this photo

then we went to see the wait time on Star Tours: 10 minutes! And we got front row seats! Now it was parade spot time! We got a spot right in front of the popcorn cart on the Discoverland entrance side of the castle. The CMs were being really good about keeping the walkway clear and I thought: great! a good spot. Then they moved the rope. They moved it so that now it was going across the pavement. Cue a huge rush of people trying to kept front row. I had sat down and so was almost sent flying into the concrete and I was now stuck behind two tall people. Cont. next post

Brilliant pics!!! Love the Cafe Mickey ones :) the RC Racer ride looks good, I've been wondering about that. I'll have to check it out when I'm there.

Disney is certainly tiring but in the best way possible! lol. I never sleep there either so by the last day I'm like a walking zombie! :rotfl:
