That breakfast looks like it would definitely hit the spot :thumbsup2 I can't wait for your review of La Cantina!
The breakfast pizza did! I'm going to post La Cantina in a few. :goodvibes

Signing on! Congrats to both of you!
:wave2: Thank you! Retirement is great!

Hey Fellow Long Islander. What a great start. I can't wait to hear the rest.
Lynbrook here! :) Thank you! Next installment soon!

Those breakfasts look good - especially the pizza! :)
You have to try that pizza!! soooo good!

So excited you are starting a review! I am in my second year of teaching. I teach 12th grade English in Philadelphia so I was very happy to see a veteran! I know this is a dining review, but I love to know about the reviewers! What did you teach?
Hi! :wave2:I taught 4th 5th and 6th grade (classroom teacher) for many years. The last 13 years, I was a Math Specialist. :teacher:

Can you get this pizza w/o cheese? Not a fan. Looks fantastic! Look forward to more!!
Not sure about getting it without cheese because I watched as they made them. They took a bunch of them out of the freezer on long baking pans and put them all in this oven that had a conveyor. By the time it got to the other end of the oven it was ready. As the baking sheets moved along, they put more in the opening. Very interesting process!:)

great start :thumbsup2
:wave2: Thank you!!

I just got back from a mother/daughter trip and we had so much fun so I can't wait to read all about your trip/food as well!!

I don't think I've ever seen that breakfast pizza before. It looks great!
Will you write a trip report? Isn't it fun to go with your daughter? I loved it! Thanks for joining in!:goodvibes
You have to try it so creamy and crunchy bacon on top!

Great start to your report. :thumbsup2'

I love that you celebrated together with a Mom/Daughter trip. I am planning on a Mom/Daughters (I have two DDs) to celebrate the older daughter earning her Bachelor's degree in June 2013. I can't wait. :cool1:

:wave2: Thanks for joining in!

We ate at this Quick serve spot a few times. This time we came for lunch. Even though we had our KTTW card with us, we decided to go partly OP with this meal. We had too many ADRS!

We started with Margaritas!!

I had a traditional lime margarita on the right and DD had a Mixed berry frozen margarita. (left) Mine was salted and tasty and refreshing with lots of ice, but not that strong.
I rated the traditional lime :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD also rated hers :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 She would give it 4 if it wasn’t for the major brain freeze she got! (Her words:))

We ordered and shared:

Tacos de Carne! These were delicious! The brisket was very soft, tender and seasoned well! It came with chips. We both gave this
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
For dessert:

Churritos con Cajeta which are little U-shaped churros with caramel sauce. The sauce was good but very watery. I love churros and these were just as good! I gave this dessert
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD also loved these and thought the sauce was perfect! She rated it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 also.
The Margaritas and Taco de Carne with tax was $33.01. We paid for this with the Disney Rewards Card. The Churritos were paid with a snack credit. All of our snack credit receipts said $0 on it, so I looked at all ears and this snack credit is $3.99 without tax.

NEXT UP - Snack: KRINGLA

After we finished lunch, we wandered around Mexico, and Norway and decided to use another snack credit at Kringla Bakeri og Café:

SCHOOL BREAD! As you can see, we cut into it and were ready to eat, but remembered the photo! This is our first time trying this. Here is another one of the inside:

Lots of custard in this one! The bread was really like a bread consistency and had spices in it. I liked the custard and coconut. I give it
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
DD gives it: :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 She didn’t like the bready part but she loves coconut!

We used a snack credit for this. Again I looked up the cost on Allears: $2.69 without tax.

NEXT UP - Dinner: CITRICOS and SURPRISE!!!

Hey! I just started my first DR as well! At least I'm in good company. Your food looks excellent! I've always intended to try school bread, but never managed to. Can't wait for more!:cool1:

We were so excited for our first TS meal of this trip and first signature meal ever. Citricos was recommended to us by so many people. We had just rested up at the Poly and were ready for our Meal and night ahead at MK. Our original plan was to walk from the Poly to the Grand Floridian for our 5:30 ADR, but we were shopping at the Poly GCH and took the monorail.
We arrived a little early. When we stepped out of the monorail we saw a bride and her family walk onto the monorail. We saw a few brides this trip.

We walked into this door and down one of the upper level hallways and saw this:

Both Citricos and Victoria and Alberts were here. This hotel is very pretty, and decorated in Victorian style. I had never been here before. We were a little early and walked in:

Empty. We were the first ones here. They told us we could sit or go to the bar so…..

We went to the bar :rotfl: I wanted a chocolate martini and my DD decided to try one too. Later on she wished she ordered wine, which she did and I drank her Chocolate martini too!! :goodvibes This was delish but not that strong. Many drinks at WDW are on the weak side.
We were seated right after we were served the drinks and carried them to our table.

We were given the bread service right away, calamata olive bread and rye flax seed bread served with sweet butter with sea salt sprinkled on top. This seems to be how they serve butter in many of the signature restaurants. I enjoyed the olive bread. They then came out with this:

An amuse bouche. I had never heard of this word before and when we got back later I googled it. :confused3 I'm sure many of you know what this is but those of you who don't: it is a tiny bite-sized pre-meal taste, showing a bit of how the chef cooks, but it is not an appetizer and is complimentary.

You can see how tiny it is next to DD's finger. I don't know the name of this, and it is not on the menu, but it had a tiny piece of tuna and potato with some vegetables. I didn't notice any other table getting this. It had a vinegar taste to it. It was ok and a very nice touch. I don't remember this enough to rate it.

CITRICOS PART 2 CONTINUED IN NEXT POST.......................

Next came our appetizer.

DD ordered Panadas: Spiced and slow-cooked Beef in crisp phyllo with Tamarind sauce. These were delicious! I would give these
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD said these were awesome! and gave them :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I ordered:

Sautéed Shrimp - Lemon, White Wine, Tomatoes, and Feta Cheese These were outstanding. I ended up dunking my bread in that white wine sauce! I wished I could bring home the rest of the sauce! I rate this :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD didn't taste these.

Seems this board counts my rating symbol: :thumbsup2 as a photo and I can't have more than 25 photos/symbols in each post. Anyone know how I can get around this???? :confused3
CITRICOS PART 3 NEXT POST......................

DD ordered this entrée:

Oak-grilled Filet of Beef - Spanish Onions, Peppadew and Banana Peppers, Quattro Formaggi-Potato Puree, and Glace de Viande. This filet was one of the better ones we had during our vacation. The potatoes were ok. (You can see DD's wine behind this dish and a view of the Grand Floridian courtyard.) I would rate this :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2and DD rated it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

My entrée:

Madeira-braised Short Ribs - Trofie Pasta, Wild Mushroom Ragout, and Truffle Creme Fraiche. The short ribs were very soft and the pasta was interesting. I would rate this :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD said She would give this :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 She loved the pasta!!!

Dessert!! DD chose:

Tiramisu - with Italian Galbani Mascarpone and chocolate sauce. This was light and very good. I rate it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD gave it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 She wasn’t that fond of it.

Then my dessert: (and here is where the SURPRISE came in)

CITRICOS PART 4 CONTINUED IN NEXT POST...................

SURPRISE!!!pixiedust:

Warm Chocolate-Banana Torte - with Vanilla Ice Cream and Handcrafted Belgium Couverture Chocolate Crown. Notice the writing. I enjoyed this dessert. Warm inside mixed up with the ice cream it was great! I rate it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD gave it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD called before we left New York and had them do a few things. One of them was the writing on the dessert plate. Also they took a photo of us and put it in a cardboard Disney frame. We also got 4 Mickey straws that I was admiring at the next table. (Look at the upper left corner of this photo. There is a boy with a red Mickey straw.) Here are the ones I got:

I took this photo on my kitchen table when I got home. We were wondering if that’s why we got the amuse bouche and no other table did. But it was such a nice surprise. There were quite a few people from the restaurant at our table including the manager who handed me this:

A personalized menu!!! They gave me the menu, photo, straws in a beautiful bag to hold it all:

I took this photo of the bag when I got home.
THANK YOU AGAIN DD!!!!!!!

This meal with a glass of wine was $154.43. The wine was $14.00 so the meal ended up to be $140.43, without tip. We put the wine and two Chocolate martinis on the Disney rewards card! We arrived at 5:30 and left around 7:00.

We headed out of the restaurant to the monorail to MK which was open until 11.

NEXT UP - Breakfast - MAIN STREET BAKERY

Not sure about getting it without coconut. I didnt see it there without it. I would ask! :)

I loved your Citricos review! I love Mediterranean food, so their menu really appeals to me. And the special recognition was so nice! How wonderful!

Of the dishes you and your daughter selected, the shrimp dish looks to die for!

Just finished the Citricos Review!! I would love to read your DR. Attach a link to your signature!!:goodvibes

For reasons that are probably ridiculous, I'm a little hesitant to put the link in my signature. Here it is for you, though if you want to view it (no obligations, of course). http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2999848

That shrimp dish WAS the best appetizer I had on the trip!
I visited and subscribed to your DR! You are a gifted writer and J is a wonderful husband! He was very creative with the blue envelopes. I subscribed to your dining report and can't wait to read the rest!:)

What lovely extra magic at citricos, food looks lovely too
The service was great there too! :goodvibes

Following along...love the pics, thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I'm having fun with this! :yay:

We had stopped in The Main Street Bakery after MSEP to get our breakfast for the next morning. We heated these up in the microwave:

They were nice and hot! Cinnamon Rolls! When we checked into the Poly, we requested a microwave in our room. It was there when we were able to go into the room! It sure came in handy here! We had just gotten dressed and gone to Captain Cooks for some coffee in our mugs that we got the previous night after MK. This is the table on our balcony. We sat there and had breakfast and enjoyed the view. It was very relaxing before a day at the parks. These Cinnamon Rolls were delish! Very soft and warm with lots of icing on top! I rate these :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DD said they were nice and gooey and also rates them :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

The mugs that we got the night before at Captain Cooks were free on the dining plan. The receipt didn't have a price on them but Allears had them listed for $15.43 with tax, $30.86 for both. The cinnamon rolls were $3.99 each without tax. So $7.98 for two. We used snack credits for those two.

After breakfast we headed off to Epcot.

NEXT UP - Lunch - LECELLIER

I had a nice weekend mostly away from the computer but now I'm back and caught up on your reviews! I swear that I'm way to easily influenced by the things I read on here and tonight I'll probably end up making my DD hit our local Mexican restaurant after looking at your photos of tacos and chips and churros!! :rotfl:

Love the review of Citricos. I've also never been to the GF but it looks beautiful. I'd love to try it sometime and I'm pretty sure that my DD and I would order the exact same things that you did! And I do like the special things that Disney does like the menu and the straws and the writing on the plate. I love it!
