Just added on 300 pts at OKW direct with Disney at $135 per point thru 2057. Added magical beginnings and that reduced the price to $115 per point.

I’m not surprised they are having to cap the incentives. People were eating this stuff up. Waiting until the end of the promotion period to see if there would be a better deal was not the move.
Interestingly my guide advertised OKW to me as a special "limited flash sale" in his email blasts over the past few weeks. He told me I could wait on Riv, but to hop on OKW if I was seriously interested. Makes sense given the aggressive pricing and limited points available.

I do hope they try to extend the epcot 2042s. If only so their direct price actually makes sense lol

Clearly flipping 2042 to 2057 contracts is the strategy here. It’s good they are putting a floor on the 2042 contracts - those ones going for $69/point were just stupid.
I don’t think they’re buying back to set a floor, I think they’re buying back because they’re running out of salable points.

I agree they don’t care about price floor—but they could be equally motivated to flip 2042 expirations into 2057 even if they aren’t making a major profit. It does make me wonder what their median sale price point is if they are buying back contracts for resale…

If they extended the Epcot 42s I would say goodbye Poly, hello Beach Club. Maybe goodbye to AKV too for more BCV 😂
I have very very very slim hopes that they might extend one 5-15 years to raise capital to pay for the other, and then let the first one renovated/rebuilt sell out before bringing the other to market…but I believe @Sandisw suggested that instead they could move them to a joint trust and do construction in various stages by sell it all upfront?

The current deal for members is depending upon how many points are bought. For 300 pts the discount is $70 per point ($205 - $70 = $135). Then you can give back the 2023 points for $20 per point credit. That brings the per point cost to $115 per point
That sounds like a really good deal. We purchased an additional 175 SSR points on the resale market in late 2022. The price back then was $120.00 per point.

I am signing contracts for another 1000 points at $95 per point - no cheaper price in the last 20 years to get direct points. People keep saying they don’t want OKW, or to be stuck at OKW… that comment is irrelevant to me because I can be flexible with short term booking options. With enough points I can book cabins, bungalows, grand villas and 1 bd room villas at lots of places even 7 months out or less - I doubt I will ever stay at OKW.

Under appreciated point. If you have over 1k points then DVC is a completely different game.

Wow!

If they were resale I would be concerned for after 2042, but since they are all direct, that may work out that you never have to stay there!

It's a good plan. I'm fairly young though and I like the idea of a RIV contract and direct benefits lasting until 2070. If I didn't already have some resale contracts that will outlive OKWe or if I was a little older, etc. I could see myself doing the same thing really. As it is though if I pull the trigger on 250-300 RIV I'll still be in the 1000+ point club myself

|If we were in your same boat, count us in. But being in Canada thats adding another 30% on right off the bat. This is what is holding us back, glad we bought years ago when the dollar was par.
But we love OKW for the laid back vibe and large rooms,,,dont rule it out.
And those extra 1k points gets you a nice GV at Aulani.

Actually, after thinking about it, I would be worried that Disney will eventually make changes to how points can be exchanged at 7 months. The only thing that is guaranteed to you is the ability to book at your home resort. Anything else can be changed or removed by Disney. Having all of my points at a resort that I don't want to stay at could be a gamble.

If newer resorts fail to sell well I could see them changing something with the 7 month exchange. Maybe limit it to your total number of points and only every other year. Maybe even removing the ability to do it from certain cheaper resorts or hamstringing it in another way if they lean into the trust concept in the future.
