Hi Paula!!!
How fun.....a Food & Wine trip!!! A lot of the Diva's go during that time....you might be able to meet up with some of them!!
That would be cool if I could meet up with some Diva's! I am sad I'm not going on the DIVA trip to DL this year but I miss my hubby so increadibly much I can't imagine if I wasn't going to see him in CO!
I did not know your hubby was a pastry chef!! My son Tyler (the one going to DL with me in 3 days) got his pastry culinary degree & worked a few different places using those skills. He'll be forever in debt paying off his school loans (sheesh, culinary school is SOOOO expensive!!)
But after working his last bakery job...we've decided he's allergic to the flour (not eating but touching it).......his hands look like they had gone thru a meat grinder....it was really bad!! Poor kid was miserable. He did find some gloves to use, but they would tear quite often & he finally just said enoughs enough. So I'm not sure what direction he'll go in next.
I'm so sorry he found out to late about the allergy! My husband was a fine dining pastry chef... All kinds of fancy desserts! I think I posted some in my May 2009 food report somewhere....
My husbands culinary degree is actually paid off with the sale of the CA house, we are still paying for his Computer Science degree that he got before the Pastry one though! Not sure which direction my hubby plans to go in next either!
I'm so glad your mom's surgery went well & continued prayers for her health, treatments & you!!
Thank You! Unfortunatly she started the Chemo last week and its made her really sick already. I was talking to someone and they said they knew someone who never got sick from the Chemo and the oncologist said that means its not working so I guess since my mom is getting really sick its really working
We looked at Coronado Springs but when I read it was the "convention" hotel......I ran away.....FAST!! lol Started looking at some of the others & found POFQ......fell in love with it. It has that NOS feel....something WDW doesn't offer in the parks. So we switched from the POP to POFQ!!! Sounds like you're still up in the air on the DVC stuff......I looked into that as well.....but since we want to eat mostly at the parks....I couldn't see spending extra to have a full kitchen. They're beautiful.......just too much for us.
From what I have read the convention doesn't really affect the resort as a whole... I picked it because it was the last day I could book something with the PIN I had rec'd and I had to go to sleep so didn't really put that much thought into it!
If we do go DVC I am not renting points to do it. We own another timeshare and we didn't use our allotted points 2 years ago so I "banked" them with RCI. The only thing I have to pay is an exchange fee and a Disney fee, so about $300/week. (Unfortunately my weeks are actually supposed to expire March 31 so I have to pay a fee to extend them so it will be a little more than that but still cheaper than paying for even a value for 2 weeks!)
I thought I had all my restaurants figured out.....but after looking at some of your choices....I'm rethinking my plan. We usually only do 2 meals a day, so we're going with the regular dining plan.....but I might want to add a couple more meals & just pay for those out of pocket.
Sure hope we get the adoption credit on Addy........ I see this trip getting more expensive......lol
Which restaurants have now caught your eye? Have you thought about not doing a dining plan, getting an AP for you, and getting a TIW card the TIW card costs $75), which then gets your 20% off all your meals for up to 10 people? It automatically will add 18% gratuity but it is still a savings...It takes a little work to figure out which one becomes more cost effective. Obviously if they offer free dining that is probably the better choice but otherwise you could upgrade your park ticket the day you get there and buy the TIW card...
Looking forward to the rest of the planning.....hopefully your hubby will get excited & get bit by the "Disney Magic" bug!!
