We got up from our mid-day nap around 5:30 to get ready for our dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Our original plan to get there was to take a bus to either Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, and then transfer to a Yacht Club bus or boat. We had also considered a cab but thought it might be really expensive. However, when we got outside, we saw there was a cab waiting, so we asked the cast member in charge of transportation if he knew the approximate cost of a cab to the Yacht Club. They have a list up there with estimated fares to a lot of places, so he was able to tell us it would be about 9-12 dollars. We figured that wasn't too pricey, so we decided to take a cab to the Yacht Club rather than go through all that bus mess.
Since our original plan had been to take the buses, we had left our hotel room pretty early. The cab ride, of course, was much quicker, so we arrived at the Yacht Club a little over an hour ahead of schedule. We looked around the resort a little first and took some pictures.
The outside of the building reminds me a lot of its neighboring resort, the Beach Club, except it is grey instead of blue.
We headed over to Yachtsman at about 6:30, an hour before our reservation time. We hoped they could seat us early, but if not, I planned on working on my trip report a little. Luckily, they had some open tables and seated us within a few minutes.
On our way to the table, they took us past a window where they have some of the steaks they serve hanging. The host explained what several of the cuts are like in detail.
We got what our waiter described as the best table in the whole restaurant. It was right up at the front of the restaurant, right in the middle, with a great view of the surroundings. It's kind of hard to tell from this picture, but I assure you, it was a really good view:
One of the first things we noticed when we got to our table was the special anniversary menus they had given us:
Our waiter explained several of the appetizer and entree choices in detail, giving his recommendations for the best choices.
They gave us sourdough and onion pull-apart bread to start. They were served with salted butter and garlic soaked in olive oil. The garlic had been soaked for so long that you could spread the garlic right on the bread. It was sooooo good! Also, when they brought my husband his iced tea, they brought him a little pot of liquid sugar to sweeten it.
For appetizers, I chose beef pot stickers, and my husband got the
Caesar salad. Both were excellent! The salad actually came with these gigantic homemade croutons that you could chop up into smaller ones.
While we were waiting for our entrees, I took another picture of the view from our table:
For our entrees, my husband got the 16-oz boneless rib eye, which came with bone marrow. He also ordered a side of the truffle macaroni and cheese, and a glass of wine.
I got the 12-oz prime New York strip steak, which originally came with carmody potato gratin. I don't really like potato gratin, so I asked for the herb fries instead.
Both of our entrees were superb!
For dessert, my husband chose the creme brûlée, and I got the peanut butter and pretzel Gianduja cake. He very much enjoyed his creme brûlée, and my dessert was mouthwatering. My cake even had a little Hidden Mickey on it:
They also brought us a little plate with chocolates and gum drops for our anniversary.
Towards the end of the meal, I snapped a couple more pictures of the restaurant:
Overall, this meal was FABULOUS! We both agreed it was the best restaurant we ever ate at on Disney property. It is a two-credit restaurant on the dining plan, but if you have the credits to spare, it is totally worth it!!! We will definitely be going back next time.
After dinner, we walked over to the boat to Hollywood Studios. I snapped some pictures of the Yacht Club and the Boardwalk all lit up on the way.
We had thought about going to Hollywood Studios for Extra Magic Hours, but we were pretty tired and decided against it. We walked over to the Pop bus stop instead, catching a few of the Illuminations fireworks on the way. Once again, we had awesome timing--a Pop bus was already there!
Once we got back to Pop, I worked on my trip report for a while, and then we pretty much crashed.
