"I'M STUCK IN DISNEY!!!!!!!!" A Delightfully Unliveable TR ~ NEW TR 9/27!!!!!!!!!!!

Lurked for a while...but joining in now that I have an account! I'm a little late...ok maybe a lot late. But better late than never!:crazy2:

Yay, I love when lurkers join in! :welcome: & Thanks for reading!

Hiiiiii! I just finished reading your whole report (over 3+ days). I can't believe you got stuck in Disney! Much better than getting stuck at home before Disney. Anyway, I probably could have a ton of comments, but all I can think of right now is that your dessert trio inspired me to have a dessert trio when I went out for dinner tonight :thumbsup2 I have to practise my dessert trio-ing before the world, right?

Thanks so much for spending 3 days reading it! YES it was a LOT better than getting stuck at home. I am so happy my trip was not planned for the 28th or something. The truth is, if it wasn't for Hanson playing on the 22nd, I probably WOULD have booked the trip for closer to Halloween and then I could have had to cancel the entire thing!

I am very happy to have inspired you to eat a dessert trio! When I'm out and see one of those on the menu I get so excited. I hope you enjoyed it!!

Day 9, Part 1 In Which I'm Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today!

It's hard to find where to begin on this update. I was going to go into a detailed and dramatic account of what was happening at this time, but I think for the most part you all know about how devastating Sandy was to the northeast.

Let me just say it was a crazy morning and I was very worried. I also had to figure out the kinda major detail of WHEN I was leaving. It took awhile to work out and I still had no idea what was going to happen, but I booked myself up til Wednesday, Oct 31. Halloween. Being on a plane was really NOT the way I wanted to celebrate this fantastic holiday that I happened to be obsessed with, but my cousins really wanted me to take them trick or treating, so the plan was to get home in time to do that on Halloween night. Of course, trick or treating ended up being canceled state-wide and rescheduled to the following Monday, so it was no big deal that I missed it because it didn't happen anyway. (I actually ended up leaving Disney on Nov 1, but I didn't know that yet.)

I went back to the Front Desk to extend my stay and again they were just so kind and accommodating to me. I will forever have affection for the cast of All Star Movies! That hurricane rate rocked so hard.

I stopped in the Movies gift shop to pin trade and I bought this Mad Hatter cookie!

9013559578_3f0119b915_z.jpg

SO GOOD.

I was in no rush this morning. Figuring stuff out and being on the phone took awhile, but I just really wanted to hang out for a bit anyway.

While I was deciding what to do with another blessed bonus day in Disney, I watched part of Hocus Pocus! I actually had watched it the night before, too, but I never get sick of that movie so I was glad it was on again! After that ended, the Amityville Horror remake was on. It's not a good movie but Ryan Reynolds is half naked like the whole time so I wasn't mad.

I finally left the room around 11:00 AM. I was wearing my Jolly Holiday bow!

A6YgKrOCMAED1pS.jpg:large

My destination? Animal Kingdom!

9012177117_239bd08097_z.jpg

9012176927_4401a8ae7a_z.jpg

I was on a mission. TO SEE A KANGAROO!!

It had been awhile since I had seen them and I really wanted to get a peek again if I could. They are not the easiest animals to spot at AK so you have to be patient.

Another one I can never seem to catch at the right moment are the otters. I freaking LOVE otters and sadly, I have never even seen the ones at Animal Kingdom! Every time I go, they just aren't around. Sigh.

First I saw some flamingos, which are cool but I mean whatever I have seen a lot of flamingos in my day.

9012176727_5e642f4148_z.jpg

And duckies:

9012176509_bd817e89cc_z.jpg

I asked a CM exactly where to go for the kangaroos because although I knew they were on Discovery Island, I wasn't sure exactly where. This person was SO helpful and gave me perfect directions. They are on a trail right in front of the Tree of Life.

9012176211_81c0d62422_z.jpg

Um, just examine that for a second please. The poem says they lick their feet to stay cool which they have so considerately animated for us on the right there. LOL.

So YAY, feet-licking Red Kangaroos!! Except... I didn't see any right then. But I was being patient. I was just at such peace because I wasn't even supposed to be there and yet here I was. One of my favorite movies is Clerks, and in that movie this guy Dante gets called into his job on his day off. He reluctantly goes in and of course there are a series of mishaps. He keeps yelling out in frustration, "I'M NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TODAY!"

So instead of me yelling that out in a negative way, I kept saying it with a huge smile on my face! Woooooo!!!!!!!!! I'M NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TODAY!!!! OHHH YEAHHH.

I just wandered around a bit and hoped I would be able to spot the kangaroos eventually.

9012175975_116c81aa0c_z.jpg

9012323711_76ccab7e9c_z.jpg

I turned around and walked back to where they were supposed to be and OH MY GOD LOOK

9012175729_595d0e44d6_z.jpg

LOUNGING KANGAROOS!!!!!!!!! They may not have been licking their feet, but that's okay. I understood. It was quite cold, so they didn't need to.

9012323975_c313396ec7_z.jpg

I have never seen kangaroos chilling out like this. It was so adorable. I just wanted to hand one of them a cold beer.

9013508498_2e06702a30_z.jpg

They weren't really doing anything else but I was still excited to see them. There was a place to sit so I hung out for awhile hoping they would get up and hop around or go on an adventure with Pooh and Piglet or something.

I answered some texts and made a phone call and then passed the time the way most 21st century girls do, but taking photos of myself on my phone.

9013559838_06a1c62a3e_z.jpg

THEN ONE OF THE KANGAROOS GOT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

9012322931_941540e9f9_z.jpg

It was hopping and everything!! A hopping red kangaroo!!!

9012322109_917dbdfe0a_z.jpg

Look at those ears. I love them!!!!

9013507502_402cc2b42f_z.jpg

9012321873_88e65964ea_z.jpg

Kangaroo bootay!!!

9013506864_a7f786922e_z.jpg

So that was exciting. I was SO happy I got to see at least one up and hopping about!! I LOVE KANGAROOS!!! ANIMAL KINGDOM ROCKS.

Whew.

I took more tree pictures because you get SUCH great views near the kangaroo area!

Attention Kristen and Jess, I found a deer!!!!

9013505816_408b2ec5a7_z.jpg

9012320957_e4e787a31f_z.jpg

Ahh I LOVE looking at the tree at these angles.

9013506348_e7cd41e721_z.jpg

I swear every time I look at this next picture, I notice something new. It's just so amazing.

9013506588_34d95e8d23_z.jpg

Before I left, I actually went back to watch the kangaroos AGAIN because I adore them so.

9013505558_e5ca1273b0_z.jpg

Hearts in my eyes!!!

I then headed over to Harambe with no real goal in mind. Just wandering around gleefully.

Day 9, Part 2 in Which I Take Jack Sparrow Home

You guys are gonna die when you hear what I ate.

You're probably thinking it has to be one of the AK classics. A safari cupcake? Ribs at Flame Tree? Jalapeno cheese pretzel? Cinnamon crusted almonds? Pizza from Pizzafari?

No, no, no, no, and HALE NO.

I ate this:

9013504836_1ed2eeb022.jpg

You guys... I can explain. I was just so full. Still. The thought of eating a cupcake made my stomach churn at this point. I know, I know. It sounds like insanity. But it's true!

I ATE CELERY AND CARROTS IN DISNEY. With Lite Ranch!!! IT WASN'T EVEN REAL RANCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could not handle eating anything even slightly heavy. And you know what? I thoroughly enjoyed the carrots and celery. I even enjoyed the light ranch. I refuse to spell it "lite" because I'm a civilized human being.

I didn't really feel like doing any of the attractions in Africa at the moment, but I really wanted to go on Everest, so I got up and headed over to Asia.

On my way, I saw Devine striding past! Sorry it's a crappy cell phone pic, but I couldn't whip my camera out fast enough to catch her. THE SECOND I PUT IT AWAY FOR ONCE HERE SHE COMES, of course.

A6YuNkYCEAAHUvQ.jpg:large

Sorry to state the obvious but she's amazing.

Monkey!!!

9013504660_08daa445da_z.jpg

I don't think I had ever noticed this before.

9013504456_ae0597da5e_z.jpg

This, however, I have noticed!!! THE FORBIDDEN MOUNTAIN!!!

9012319191_f3a042616e_z.jpg

9012318945_8bdda1ed5f_z.jpg

I wanted to stay the night at the Yeti Palace, but unfortunately they don't open til next season. Oh well!

9012318695_1f894591da_z.jpg

I rocked the single rider line a few times. You know how I do.

One of the times I was on the ride, some kid said so loudly, "We're going to Mickey Mouse Land!!!!!!!!" Um... I'm not sure he knew that he was about to speed backwards in the dark down a mountain.

Then something AWESOME happened. I was in the Everest gift shop, where (at the time) they had Vinylmation trading. So I pulled out my only remaining trader and picked a number. I wasn't crazy about the one the CM pulled out from the blind box, so I picked another number. The CM said, "Ooooh, this is a good one. Someone just traded this and I couldn't believe they gave it up!"

IT WAS JACK SPARROW.

A6YyNyPCMAAabX1.jpg:large

Not only am I in love with Johnny Depp (and yes I met him, and yes he is the best person currently in existence), but it's just an awesome Vinyl no matter how ya slice it. I LOVE THIS THING!!!

I was seriously SO excited and even more happy after that. AHH. Trading is just so fun and addicting. I'll NEVER understand why they cut down on the trading locations in Disney World. It's just ridiculous and VERY disappointing. If they ever do that with pins I will be so mad and Jess will probably need to be medicated b/c she is even more obsessed with pins than I am. Seriously, my obsession grew a lot on #BirthdayFestivus13 because she has like a microchip inside of her that is a detector of awesome pins. I even ordered more traders in the middle of my trip and had them sent to Jess's apartment LOL. But these are stories for the next TR!

I just have to also mention that I just found out that a Disney store not too far from here HAS VINYLMATION TRADING. Oh my GOD. I am so excited to go back and trade!!! This is just too much. I hardly ever go to that Disney Store because we also have an outlet, but I am going to go there like once a week now at least. I just want cool vinyls omg. I bet I can find unique ones there too. AHH. I was so excited when I saw the box there and the CM said they also used to have PIN TRADING!!!! WHY WOULD YOU TAKE THIS AWAY FROM THE WORLD, DISNEY?! It is just not fair that I can only pin trade in Disney. I wish pin trading was just a national practice at all stores. Sigh.

Anyway, back to the report! Sorry not sorry for rambling on about pin and vinyl trading. :D

Monkeys!!!

9013503470_f0010d0e83_z.jpg

9012318229_9c542e091a_z.jpg

My next stop was the Caravan Stage, to see something I have never seen before: Flights of Wonder!

9013821490_79cd1dc3a2_z.jpg

9013501326_56dc15a822_z.jpg

Outside the theatre, a CM was holding an owl that was frantically looking around for something, which made it very hard to get a good picture of, but I did after like 93802398 tries!

9013503016_dd8a5c2706_z.jpg

I have seen this owl pre-show many times in passing, but never actually stopped to see it. The CM was asking the crowd various questions about the owl. They would then yell out completely wrong answers and the CM would correct them. I learned lots of interesting owl facts, none of which I remember now. But at the time, it was very interesting!

One of the questions the CM asked was "How many degrees can this owl turn its head?" I am not one to yell out answers, but it was clearly somewhere around 250 degrees.

Many grown adults called out, "360!"

The owl was so over this stupidity.

9012317635_5db0995330_z.jpg

Not only is that quite obviously a physical impossibility for any living thing, BUT THE OWL WAS RIGHT THERE. YOU COULD SEE IT'S HEAD MOVE BACK AND FORTH. AT NO POINT DID IT'S HEAD COMPLETELY REVOLVE.

"Can you believe these people?"

9012317089_c96eb383f5_z.jpg

*Uzma voice* I'm surrounded by idiots.

9013502448_4fb3694bd9_z.jpg

Hey, I'm not a genius. I know that. But at least I am aware that the head of an owl can not rotate 360 degrees.

The CM was funny. She was kind of snide about it and said matter-of-factly yet very sweetly, "In order for her head to spin 360 degrees, her neck would have to break. So no, it's not 360 degrees."
I liked her.

We then went in for my very first viewing of FLIGHTS OF WONDER!!!!!!!

I was quite excited to be getting in some of the things I always mean to do but then somehow miss.

I liked this show a lot. First of all, the host was cute. Maybe not the most important thing but it helped. Secondly, birds are awesome (sorry Kara but they are!!).

9013501786_4e63212893_z.jpg

I don't want to give away anything but there are freaking cool birds doing freaking cool things in this show. A lot of it you do not expect. It's not a must do on every trip for me but I really enjoyed it!

The cute host is unfortunately married!!!! Honestly where is my CM husband? Ideally, he'd be Eugene or a ToT/Haunted Mansion CM though. So this was okay. *sings*Someday my Hollywood Tower Hotel bellhop will come...

So anyway, it was hard to get good pics because the cool stuff happens so suddenly and I was just into the show and not really worrying about it. So you will just have to take my word for it. I do however have a picture of the Hidden Mickeys!!

9013501978_b7ab860422_z.jpg

After the show, I was a bit hungry so I went over to Yak & Yeti to get some chicken fried rice! YUM.

9012316045_11e2bb3a0b_z.jpg

I also got some hot chocolate because it was freezing. You know, like usual, freezing cold Animal Kingdom.

I just sat and ate and enjoyed the sights and sounds of AK. As worried as I was about everyone in the NJ/NY area, I was really happy and content. I love the whole going to a park and not doing much because I've already seen everything 14 times thing, you know? I love just soaking Disney in and appreciating the moment. This is something I am usually not capable of -- I am constantly harping on the past and panicking about he future, unable to enjoy the current moment. At Disney, somehow, magically, I can truly experience today. The moment is mine, it's tangible, and I can really FEEL it and live in it. It's probably hard to understand the significance of this if you can just naturally do it, but I need to travel 2,000 miles away from where I live and pay a whole lotta money to feel it, so when it happens, it's really something to me. And I was VERY grateful to be experiencing this when I should have been at home stuck inside with no heat or power. So it was quite profound.

Also, DISCO!!! DISCO!!!

I was watching the salamanders/newts/geckos/baby Reptars/whatever. They kept darting back and forth. I love them!

Up Next: Yes there is a third update! So keep scrolling, woooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Day 9, Part 3 In Which I Take A Selfie With A Goat

I wanted to go explore Rafiki's Planet Watch, so after awhile I got up and headed back to Harambe Village.

9013499816_035b411f0e_z.jpg

I think it's so cool that you have to take a train there and that you're separated from everything else. It's just really different.

9013499528_22e574c099_z.jpg

It's also cool to see the backstage areas. Rhino!!!

9013499346_8339709ab4_z.jpg

9013499160_4f252c9841_z.jpg

"Yes, the past can hurt, but the way I see it, you either run from it, or learn from it."

9012313921_cf8ba3bec9_z.jpg

On the pathway to the Conservation Station, there are adorable bright orange monkeys!!

9012313711_e2e35a9604_z.jpg

OMG I am in love with them.

9012313253_65047a407e_z.jpg

I wonder if those long tails ever get annoying. They're probably just used to them.

9012312991_5777dd3e45_z.jpg

It's so beautiful here.

9012312779_e8d8f63172_z.jpg

9012312549_085e6a0b95_z.jpg

My destination!

9013497382_3896f397b6_z.jpg

I FOUND PASCAL.

9012312121_edc6865a6d_z.jpg

I actually didn't go inside at first because I have always wanted to go to the Affection Section (petting zoo) here, but last time I tried, it was raining. I love petting zoos a LOT. I go to the one at a local farm near my house every single week. I am in LOVE with the goats and this one cow they have, like it's an obsession. So I was excited because Disney does everything the best so I knew they would have a great petting zoo.

I was right, but I did not know quite HOW right I was.

This is not your average petting zoo. Usually, when you walk into a petting zoo, the animals are fenced in. If you go up to the fence, the animals usually come up to you and you can pet them. I mean, that's the way it's been at every petting zoo I've ever been to.

At the Affection Section, there are no fences. Well, there are, but you're in them.

With the animals.

Everyone just hangs out together. It's casual.

I was pretty shocked by this because I would think it would be a liability? For children (and adults too) to be mixed in with animals. Like, they never bite or anything? Kids never accidentally hurt them or something? I don't know. It was a really peaceful place. It was REALLY awesome to see the coexisting awesomeness of the Affection Section.

9012311875_6c4610b616_z.jpg

9013496748_a25095b8ea_z.jpg

I was slightly nervous around the pigs because when I was 4, our preschool went on a class trip to a petting zoo, and A PIG BIT ME. It was really bad. It didn't scar me for life or anything (physically or emotionally) but I was nervous seeing all these pigs with all these kids. They're Disney pigs though, so they were cool.

9013496558_950439c1d6_z.jpg

9012311295_057bec5726_z.jpg

At one point I kind of felt bad for them, like animals probably don't want this many people around all day. But then I learned that they switch them out periodically. Kind of like character sets! LOL. Also, none of the animals were like running away or trying to be alone or anything. They seemed to really enjoy it. It was SO CUTE AND PERFECT.

And then I hung out with my favorite farm animals... I LOVE GOATS SO MUCH.

9012311025_e9c3bb6ba4_z.jpg

9013495834_f13ccf2f32_z.jpg

This goat became my best friend. Oh I love him so much.

9013495630_93ee3e1b60_z.jpg

I was trying to take selfies with a black goat but I don't know that he was familiar with the concept because he kept looking in the wrong direction. A nearby CM offered to take a picture of us! How kind.

He was so sweet, but he was older and didn't really know how to work my BlackBerry, but with some coaching he did a great job!

A6ZPPmiCYAAtypF.jpg:large

@babybritney: ME AND A GOAT

I still had to do a selfie with my other BFF though.

A6ZPrA6CMAAaRzO.jpg:large

@babybritney: AND HERE I AM WITH ANOTHER GOAT OMG

I WAS SO EXCITED. I LOVE GOATS.

9013495422_df02304f61_z.jpg

Ahh so cute.

There were some animals that were behind a fence, like this panchito!!

9012310093_498d02266e_z.jpg

9012309655_ec18d81208_z.jpg

The lambs were behind a fence at that time as well.

9013494996_ac28d56bb3_z.jpg

Well since it's almost 3am I should probably go to sleep since I have stupid work tomorrow!! But hopefully I will get my Vinylmation trading in!!! AHH.

Okay, good night people. Or good morning actually.

Up Next: More affection, the Conservation Station, World Showcase, Beach Club (hilarious stories involved), and Magic Kingdom AGAIN! Oh, it was quite a day. And I WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE THERE! What luck.

Awesome updates!! You mentioned it was cold - how was the weather the other days? We are staying at beach club oct 26-30 and I'm going to be seriously angry if we can't swim!!

Also - I saw Hanson a few weeks ago at some random flower show thing in Delaware! It was AMAZING!!!

Ahhh, I knew from your teaser you were going with a Clerks reference! :thumbsup2 If I switch shifts with someone at work, it's almost guaranteed to be a horrendous day and I angrily say that phrase to myself for 12 hours straight. However, it's really great that you were able to use it in a positive way!

Kangaroos! I remember seeing them in '09 and then when we went to Conservation Station last year, we saw them doing a dental exam on a kangaroo. It was pretty cool! But when I posted it on my TR, most people reading didn't even realize they were there.

It's so nice that you were able to just chill and take it all in, something we don't always get to do if we can only go for a week. Our 10 day trip in '09 was perfect, but unfortunately we can't always get away for that long. :sad1:

Your selfie with the goat is just adorable! :lovestruc

YEAH! I was so excited to get up and see new updates from you. Sounds like so much fun. We didn't get much AK time on our May trip, so I'm hoping we will be able to on the next go around. You're giving me all kinds of great things to look forward to. The Red Kanagroos are my favorite part of this installment, so awesome, and your adorable excitement is contagious!

yay for selfies with goats! my boyfriend and I still think the 'goats yelling like humans' video on youtube is hilarous and will randomly immitate them .... we're weird. Or fun. Whichever.

I haven't been over to the conservation station - perhaps I need to add that to the to-do list for the fall!

Great updates!

The more times we travel to WDW, the more I am able to sit back and really enjoy each moment instead of running to the next spot or analyzing whatever we just did!

We can totally be in with the goats at the petting zoo in my city :thumbsup2 I am definitely going to Rafiki's Planet Watch this trip!

Yum, now I want fried rice for lunch popcorn::

Needing to get some Halloween Party info. Did you think it was cold? I know you wore a suit type jacket with tights. Were you ever hot? I have picked out my outfit, but am really nervous that it will be too hot.

P.S. I checke and mmmmHops beer is not for sale yet. They are still working on the recipe here in Oklahoma at the Mustang Brewery.

Yaay!! Awesome vinylmation trade! That’s great!! You’ve met Johnny Depp?! Ack! Amazing

I have yet to do Flights of Wonder and probably won’t due to not liking birds and from what I hear they fly over your head so that’s a BIG no to me! Lawl. Glad you enjoyed it though!

What?! That’s so weird, every petting zoo I’ve been to you’re in the pen with the animals! Lawl. Weird. Oh my god pigs are so cute, I seriously want one…ahahaha. And goats…they’re so cute, love the selfies with them haha!

I don’t know if I have ever seen a kangaroo in my life. IDK how that can be. I NEED TO.

I do eat vegetables at WDW restaurants sometimes, so I can understand how full you were and just needed something light. But after I eat vegetables, I wash them down with cupcakes…… JK.

I am only a little jealous you met Johnny Depp and probably everyone else except for weirdos.

I am a much bigger fan of pins than vinyls BUT STILL. Vinyl trading at the Disney Store is just awesome. WHY U GET RID OF PIN TRADING THO.

I REALLY need to see Flights of Wonder one of these days. I will add that to my mental list of must dos.

Your selfie with the goat>>>>>
You are perfect.

You know I just can't imagine how tough it would be to be #StuckinDisney, which is, obviously, AWESOME, but at the same time having that awful storm back home. Thank goodness the CM's at All Stars were so great. I can definitely back up that CM's can help SO MUCH in a bad and/or stressful situation.

Oh man, I was so thinking of Clerks when I read your chapter title. Too funny.

I think you just blew my mind... Kangaroos and Otters. I had no idea. Oy, I need to get off of Everest once in a while.

And YAY Everest. That is all.

I love when CM's are able to insult someone without seeming like they're insulting someone. Such an amazing talent!

"At Disney, somehow, magically, I can truly experience today. The moment is mine, it's tangible, and I can really FEEL it and live in it."

Lia, I simply LOVE your approach and enthusiasm. :goodvibes

First of all, that Liberty Square bird is terrifying. I don't...I just...yuck.

Onto the new updates...

OMG I went on a kangaroo-finding mission in November! Except we got lost a few times. And never saw any. It's a long story. I'm glad you saw them though! They're so cute!!

Ugh, Flights of Wonder. The DIS needs a 'curling up in the fetal position and crying' smiley. It sounds like an interesting show for people who can tolerate birds, I guess. Also even I, someone who avoids most birds/bird-related knowledge knew owls can't turn their heads all the way around. If they could, I'd be 10x more terrified. :rotfl:

How did I miss the bright orange monkeys when I went to Rafiki's? They're awesome! They look like something out of a movie, but, y'know, real. Nature is awesome.

LOVE your goat selfie! :thumbsup2

Don't remember if i've commented on your report yet, but i've been reading along the whole time :)

- Love your sunglasses.

- I had just moved out of NY (long beach) a few weeks before Sandy. Being so far away when all my family and friends were right in the middle of it was hard. So I totally get how you feel. But it is the most awesome of places to just get stuck in.

Love that you are just soaking it all in. Thats how I'd do it. everything is a bonus so you can't go wrong.

Looking forward to hearing the rest, and to read about your next trip.

OMG! I didn't know AK had kangaroos! Now I have to find them in Sept lol!

I love reading your TR. I personally find you pretty funny (in a good way!)
