Chapter 11: On to Fantasyland we go….

Hello all my dear friends and fellow Disney fanatics! I hope you are all having a most enjoyable week so far. I’m making it LOL!!! Life has been a bit crazy, but I feel like things will be slowing down starting this evening and that would be a good thing for my household. I can’t wait for Friday to get here, because I’m very excited about my weekend plans. I will be attending a ladies conference with my church. I’m looking for the time away and a relaxing weekend with my friends!! Well once again I could ramble for awhile so instead I will just get back to the tales of Nobby and I, since that’s why you’re here LOL!!

Nobby and I really enjoyed the Carousel of Progress, but we knew our morning window to enjoy rides in Fantasyland was growing small. We both knew we didn’t want to deal with huge crowds so we headed over that way. On the way we passed the spinning cups and I said a silent prayer that Nobby wouldn’t ask to get on those. You see I have an issue with spinning rides and I had no desire to get all nauseous and dizzy at Walt Disney World. Thankfully Nobby didn’t ask so I didn’t stop and we kept on moving. We did take a moment to take a few pictures of the very cute topiary and wave to the Mad Hatter and Alice who were on their way to enjoy a cup of tea.

Nobby and I both agreed we would try to meet up with them later this trip. As we walked into Fantasyland things were still relatively slow and the area wasn’t all that crowded.

Well the first ride in Fantasyland we decided to go on was The Great Adventures of Winnie Pooh.

I really love how the queue for this ride has pages of the book with stories about Pooh and his friends lining the walls. It is quite charming if you ask me.

The ride is really a lot of fun! I keep meaning to find the picture of Mr. Toad handing the deed to Owl but I keep missing it. Oh well maybe next time I will remember!!! Some photos from the ride.

So I asked Nobby where he wanted to go next and of course he said Snow White’s ride of course…oh but of course…however I knew this was not the payback for no Stitch, Snow White would be too easy, I mean Nobby knew I was going to take him on this ride.

We entered the queue and the wait was very minimal and before we knew it we were in a mining cart making a wish near the wishing well and going on an adventure.

The ride was really cute, the old woman witch sort of scared me, but Nobby was my hero and promised to protect me. Nobby really enjoyed the scene in the dwarves’ house and he might have done a little jig, but he wasn’t too impressed with the Prince. Apparently Nobby thinks Snow White belongs only to him. However Nobby did make sure it was pointed out that the Prince had to kiss Snow White; Snow White on the other hand kissed him. That’s right, Nobby’s no fool, he knows how to dot those I’s and cross those T’s LOL!!! After Snow White we decided to explore more of Fantasyland. Since it was my turn to choose I decided we should check out the wait for Peter Pan (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA okay that is me laughing hysterically) because the wait was already at 50 minutes and I’m not waiting that long for anything. I turned to head towards Liberty Square when a chill ran down my spine (and it wasn’t the good kind that you get when riding Haunted Mansion) and I just knew…oh yes I just knew the moment was here. I made the mistake of making eye contact with Nobby and he had that sheepish look on his face. All he did was stare, and with horror in my heart I turned to look and there it was my karma payback for No Stitch.

Okay so it’s a classic, it’s somewhat charming, it has girl dolls that sing and dance that are Nobby’s size (wait a minute now it all makes sense, that gnome is such a little flirt), but that song, oh that song no matter what language you sing it in drives me batty. Someone once said that after riding It’s a Small World it requires therapy to get that song out of your head, they weren’t kidding you literally will be singing that song in German and you don’t even know German. So I don’t make it a habit of riding this ride, I usually watch it on youtube with it muted and enjoy it just as if I was in one of those little boats. Somehow I didn’t think youtube was going to cut it for Nobby. I could still feel his eyes on me as if he was daring me to refuse him this ride. Well I’m no fool and I wasn’t about to bring on the wrath of a gnome upon me (I’ve read fairy tales, I know what Nobby can do when he’s mad). I took a deep breath and tried to mentally prepare myself and with my head held high I walked into the queue. I figured the best defense against the song that penetrates the brain and never leaves would be concentrating on getting good photos. I must say I did find this clock to be very pretty.

Thankfully we didn’t have to wait very long and Nobby insisted that he got to sit next to the edge of the boat. (Sorry for the blurriness, I attempted to take his photo 4 times and each time he was so excited about this ride he moved LOL)

Right before the ride got started I noticed Nobby was fixing his hair and straightening his jacket, at that point it dawned on me, the little Casanova wanted to hit on the girls in this ride. This amused me greatly and made the ride a lot more bearable for me. I mean how cute is it to watch a gnome flirt especially with girls who don’t speak the same language as him, but he’s not a gnome of many words anyways so I was interested to see how he would get their attention. With a wave to the CM in charge of the ride we were off.

I love the Toy Soldiers aren’t they so adorable. Nobby wasn’t really interested in them, hmmm I wonder why LOL!!!

However the blonde in this picture was a whole other story, I swear to you I saw Nobby wink at her.

We moved on from the European room into the Asia room. Nobby found quite a few very beautiful ladies in here!

I think of all the rooms in IASW I really like the African one the best. I think it’s because of all the animals, they look so cute. Finally we entered the finale area and Nobby insisted he needed a picture of him in the ride to prove he had really been there.
I told him there was a good chance the picture would turn out dark because I was not going to use the flash, it is against the rules. He didn’t care he wanted the picture of him in ISAW.

Finally the ride was over and of course the song was stuck in my head YAY!! But Nobby was happy and that was worth its weight in gold. A happy gnome is a very good thing (don’t you think that should be written on a fortune cookie). Nobby was so happy that he even convinced me to go on it one more time, he has such a cute begging face. That’s right IASW twice within 30 minutes, it would mean the song would be stuck in my head for that much longer, but then again it would be worth it, well maybe I’m not sure much is worth having that song stuck in your head at 1 am in the morning LOL!

So with a happy gnome and a sickeningly sweet song stuck in my head where would we go next? Would I ever get to meet the 999 ghosts? What do you do when the park gets too crowded? Did someone say Brown Derby for lunch? Well once again my friends this is where I stop and leave you with these questions. The answers will have to come to you next time! Until then…have a great day!!!

:rotfl: I can't wait to see all his outfits!

I got all caught up again on your TR - Isn't CoP great?! It's one of our favorites. Technology + cheesiness makes this nerd family HAPPY! However, a certain antsy 1 year old made it not quite as enjoyable in November and skipped in January. Hopefully in December he can sit still!

I can't believe you did Small World twice in a row. You are one brave woman!!!!!! But, I bet it was wonderful seeing Nobby enjoy himself so much. :lovestruc

Great update!!! Fantasyland was pretty empty! But I guess everyone was in the Peter Pan queue! :rotfl:

The old witch in Snow White still scares me. They don't call that ride the SCARY adventures of Snow White for nothing!! :rotfl2:

Nobby is too cute on Small World. Twice. Wow. So will you go back on in the fall to see the updates of the classic Disney characters they've put in? Or is that just in Disneyland? :confused3

Lunch at Brown Derby? Is that next?? :hyper:

Awww...Good Morning Brook!! I hope you get your chance to ride COP at some point I bet that little guy of yours will love it just as much as you and your DH do LOL!!!

The things you'll do to keep a gnome happy...I know twice in a row...never again. That's all I'm saying my quota for indulging the gnome has been filled LOL!

No Kidding, I couldn't believe how long that line would get. I would finally head there first on my last day there so I could ride it without any wait, it was bizarre how long that line would get.

I think the updates are just at Disneyland, but I'll still ride it again, but only once and immediately afterward I will need to head to either COP or HM to get the song out of my head. It turns out those songs are the best therapy.

And yes....at some point next (don't quite have the organization decided on) I'll be discussing lunch at Brown Derby!

OK, I'm one of those in the camp of I  IASW!!!! I love everything about it including the song. Seriously, I may be crazy but I don't care...it's pure Disney to me and my boys equally loved it (ah yes, I may just raise them right after all! )

    Oh, that Nobby.

Forcing you on IASW. Rascally little devil.

Sounds like you had a wonderful morning in Fantasyland, and I just love being able to go on all those rides so quickly, don't you? Makes all the difference in the world getting there early. :goodvibes

ohh that Nobby!! here I am counting on him being my ride partner for the "big" rides that no one else wants to ride....and he likes IASW:sad2:

    OTTV!!

You are a good woman to take him on twice in a row. I like IASW, but i don;t know that I could do it back to back!
poor Nobby is going to be Soooooo glad when his trip with me is over. After being spoiled by you, he's not gonna know what hit him at our house. I've had 14 years of toughening up against the sweet "spoil me" face:rotfl:

Hey there are a ton of IASW lovers out there and I really really appreciate them!! It is a great ride, the song though just not my cup of tea!! I'm so glad though that your boys are really appreciating some of the classic Disney that is out there!! You are most defintely raising them right!!

It was a great morning in Fantasyland and all the rides were pretty much walk ons except for Peter Pan...seriously what is it about that ride it goes from 5 minutes to 50 minutes in the first 10 minutes its open LOL!

Hey in his defense he really really enjoyed Expedition Everest and Tower of Terror, he just also likes IASW I think its cuz he can totally relate LOL!!!!!

Awww poor Nobby I'm sure your kids will spoil him if you don't LOL!!!!

Kissing Snow White, riding IASW twice...well at least I have him trained that there will be no Stitch...oh wait...Jackie's Connor might take him on that...OH NO...I will definitely be sticking my ground on this one...there will be NO Stitch with me!! He and Connor can love the ride together LOL!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Yeah I don't think I will ever ride it back to back again LOL!!!

Aww thank you!! I really enjoyed taking photos...of course I deleted more than I kept from that ride...alot came out blurry!!

I know its going to be scary!! Great for us I can't wait to meet up with all my gnomies (as Katie calls us LOL) Nobby's not going to have a clue how to handle us all LOL

YAY!! I can't wait for you to start Meghan!! Another great TR to read!!!

There are times, but thankfully I have a supplied of great Disney Music that I listen to that counteracts any song I don't want in my head LOL

I love the pics of Nobby on IASW. He looks so delighted  I agree the Peter Pan wait is always ridiculous! That's why I've only been on it once in my last 4 trips.
