Everything Park Hopping - Please Read Post 1

Wow, so glad I checked out this thread. This shuts down my plan to be in Epcot on my way to Studios for a chance at the 1PM Galaxy VQ not the end of the world but I wanted to be in my 2nd park around noon. I planned on leaving MK between 11:00 and 12:00. I guess my old school is showing :sad1:
I'm not a passholder, so someone can confirm, but I think you should be ok with your original plan. The statement you referenced above is referring to if you have NO park reservations for the day. If you have a reservation for MK, you should be able to park hop at any time as long as you have scanned into MK first. The 2:00 pm rule is for the first park of the day is with no reservation for any park, not park hopping.

Ah thank you for clarifying that is what I was confused about.

Okay...starting at the beginning of this thread(?) has left me very confused. For context- I have not been to WDW in a decade, so the limits on park hoppers are completely foreign to me. I've gathered that we can go to as many parks as we want, at any time that we want, but is there some limitation on how many people can "hop" to a park now? Our tickets do not require park reservations, or so I was told by the WDW travel people (and I hope that is accurate because having to figure that our on top of everything else might just be too much for me! lol), so I'm not sure how it works. It used to be we'd get our fill of one park, and just head to another whener the mood struck us. This thread makes it all seem so complicated to me...am I completely wrong?

Except under rare circumstances (e.g. Christmas Day), you are free to hop. VERY occasionally (i.e. twice in 4+ years) park hopping has been stopped and only to the MK. Unless your are planning to visit on Christmas Day or New Year's Day, I would not be concerned with park hopping limitations.

Thank you!!!!!!!

Does it ever make sense to purchase a one day ticket with park hopper and then say a 5 or 6 day ticket without?

Or does the way Disney prices their ticket plans void any meaningful savings?

I do not believe we would ever hop more than once.

There are so many variables that I honestly don't think anyone can easily answer your question. You would need to run the numbers with your specific dates and compare prices.

I will have to do that for next trip.

Most likely Disney has structured the pricing to make any savings negligible.

Depending where you live and what your options are, you might want to throw in an AP purchase in your comparison. You're already talking 6-7 days - might make sense.
Sorry but highly unlikely. We purchase 8-10 PH+ tickets and it would take 2 of those trips in a year just to break even, and this would remove some other perks for us.

Sadly, longer trips no longer = AP being a good option.

Frequent short trips sometimes makes it worth purchasing an AP.

That is what I found.

Plus this year our trip starts on August 11 and next year I expect it to be almost a week later so we will not get 2 trips in a year.

After next years trip we do not plan to be back until 2027.

If you're going to do hopping in the middle of the ticket, you could probably go to a ticket booth and have a CM just upgrade that one day. I don't have experience with that, but I think that's an option.
This information is not correct. It will cost the same amount to add PH to a ticket day 1 or the last day. It is NOT possible to only add hopping for one day.

AP staying at resort. We have park reservations for each day. If we change our minds about what we want to do, can we cancel our park reservation (say at noon on the day of) and then be able to enter any park at 2pm?

So, in the scenario I described, if I had already used 2 days of a 3 day ticket, and then upgraded to a park hopper for day 3, it would retroactively charge me to upgrade to a hopper for 3 days, even though I had already used 2 days of the ticket (and only had one day left that was 'upgradable)?

That was what I saw when I purchased our tickets.
Not sure what you saw but that is not correct. Adding park hopping as always been to length of ticket. It is a set price but will cost the same if you add it day 1 or the last day. It is not possible to add to only one day unless a guest only purchase a single day ticket.

Yes. Adding park hopping to a ticket is a set price. You will pay the same price regardless of when you add it. Essentially, if you're going to add it, add it at the beginning to at least give you the option to hop for your entire stay.

A guest will always be charged (as of current prices):
$75 to add park hopping to a 2 or 3 day ticket
$85 to add park hopping to a 4 to 10 day ticket

Ok, thank you for clarifying. I edited my post to remove the incorrect info.
