Eastern Caribbean Fantasy Oct. 5, 2013

There's a wide choice of pirate costumes on ebay and on Amazon. We got both ours from Amazon, respectively from shops which sell thru Amazon. They weren't very expensive, of course they are 'Made in China', but they need to be good for one evening only.

Tink,
We have yet to get our cabin number so I hope that will not be a problem when setting everything up for the FE. I am hoping we do get it soon!
Will post and let you know as soon as we get it, we look everyday.:surfweb: I wish they would give it to us when we finished paying for it, over a month ago.

Ok most everyone in our group has there pirate pirate:costume, except myself and my son. Hope we can find or make something before we leave for the cruise. Anybody have great luck finding a pirate costume that was worth buying. Pretty crafty so I may make one but finding the time is so hard.

Kim

Kim,
I can get the sub-groups going with out the guarantee cabins numbers. I will update that info and send it out to the group you are assigned to as soon as you get it to me.

Side note to all FEer's: If last minute cabin changes happen, don't fret. I will have a dry erase board out side my cabin door, and any messages that need to be conveyed to the entire group can be put on there. Also, we will all have wave phones. It is easy to reach others by simply dialing their cabin number. So, we could also set up a phone chain with in each FE sub group.

Kim, what size costume are you looking for. My boys have grown out of a few. If I have something that may work, I would be willing to let you borrow it. And as for my costume, I picked up a great pirate style shirt, and long jacket ( a long vest works good too...our oldest uses one of those for his costume) at Goodwill for under $10. Then I am making a pair of boot covers. One of the boys had a pair with an old pirate costume, and I am going to use that as a basic pattern.

Calling everyone taking part in the FE.
The sign up for the FE officially ends July 26. ( I will post the most current FE list after this post)
I will be at a conference from this Saturday until Thursday.
So, when I get home, I will be working on getting the Sub-Groups finalized.
If you have not already, can you please go to
FE Sub-Group (kiddo gifts or regular)
under the database tab on the group page, and let me know your preference for sub groups (if you are not on the group page, PM me, and I will let you know what I need from you).
This will help me a great deal when it comes down to setting the groups up.
Also, could you please take a moment to check the original table for FE and make sure I have your room number, number in your cabin, and number of kiddos. Some how, several of the entries (I think like 7 or so) got deleted. I reentered them, but would appreciate if y'all made sure I got it all right.

Thanks for all your help.

~Tink~

Anja just tried on her costume and it is a great fit, which came as a surprise. It is a size XS, but as she usually wears a size 0 or 2 we expected the need for alterations. So now we're all set for our cruise :cool1:

Looks like Disney will be having Halloween themed cruises on the dream but the other 3 ships will be having some Halloween fun for us too like trick or treating and costumes parades etc... I am going to look I.to it more when I get home... I love Halloween its my 2nd favorite holiday so this is awesome :)

Are you saying that this will be a part of our cruise?

As soon as you find out, can you post and let everyone know.
Thanks

I just got an email from Jacqueline Dowley.
Her and her family decided to change their sail date. They were concerned about the cruise length with their 23 month old. So they switched to a shorter itinerary.
I am sad to see them go, but fully understand.

I made adjustments to the last FE I posted (post # 924).
With the loss of Jacqueline and her family, we are back down to 42 cabins.

Stay tuned, as I am sure we will see more changes as the week progresses.

The Disney Cruise Line chefs work their magic in the kitchen on some special Halloween treats.

NOTE: NO WEAPONS ALLOWED. If you plan on being a pirate, leave your plastic cutlass at home as no weapon, real or fake, is permitted.

Unfortunately, this looks like it's only going to be offered on The Dream for now as a special themed cruise: "Halloween on the High Seas".

On a side note, I'm not sure if Viking's inflatable swords will be allowed for Pirate Night??? :confused3

Still so new to this. I am on the list ;-) Do I need to also list the friend I am traveling with so she is counted as well? Also, will this list be divided into 2 or more smaller groups? Thanks!

My 17 year old is wearing a pair of tan pants (with out any pockets) that fit his waist, but his recent growth spurts (he has shot up to over 6 ft) have left them too short, A piratey shirt (you know, the ones with flaired cuffs around the wrists, and extra material around the chest (or you could have something that you can make into a low v-neck...like a muslin cloth shirt, add some button holes and use leather laces for closure), and possibly the long vest (it comes down to about the middle of his upper leg) I was talking about. Then we add the fake pirate ear ring, a skull necklace and a bandana or hat.
Plus if you are interested, we are going to be hosting a pirates lair in our cabin. We have someone who knows how to do scars, and I know how to do stubble.
Let me know if you would like to see our families pirate pics.

This is a list of cabins. If the 2 of you are in the same cabin, than there is no need to list her separate.

When we reach the 26th of July and the opportunity to join the FE has ended. I will split the cabins in to at least 2 smaller groups. I have been watching the table about everyones preferences on splitting into smaller (sub) groups, and the majority are fine with a group size of 20 or larger. Some even said the more the merrier. With only a small portion asking for a small group. Based on that, I do not see any need to divide any smaller than 2 groups (that is unless by some happenstance we get a land slide of people joining in the next week).

Basically we will probably have one smaller group, and one that is between 20 to 30 cabins.

If you have a preference of the size of group that you would like to be in, and have not indicated it thus far, please either go to the group page, click the database tab, and open the 'FE Sub-Group (kiddo gifts or regular) ' link.
Choose to add a record, and let me know what you prefer. If you can not (for what ever reason) add the record on the group page, you can always send me a message or even post on the here. I can update the list for you if you need me to.

On a side note, I'm not sure if Viking's inflatable swords will be allowed for Pirate Night??? :confused3

Sometimes I just I don't understand American rules:
You can buy guns at every Walmart, but you are not allowed to wear a plastic sword on a costume party

I even thought about bringing my pirate pistol I bought at Pirates of the Caribbean in 1988!!!! But I guess the times are changing.
Before our last cruise I bought two Leatherman Tools, which were in our checked luggage when we boarded the ship. Later that night we found a note in our stateroom stating that the tools were taken from our luggage and could be retrieved upon our return to Port Canaveral. Were they afraid that I would sink the ship with it? :confused3
