    Tink,
I just found out that VistaPrint has a Texas-Special:
You can have our logo printed on a ten gallon hat :lmao:
They also have one for us Germans: Embroidered Lederhosen :rotfl:

Today Anja's pirate costume arrived. She'll try it on later and then we'll see whether it needs alterations.

If only I had room to pack it
    :scratchin
Maybe I'll just ride my horse to the port :lmao:
Wonder how much they would charge for parking that ;)

I think you may have a space conflict with your lederhosen as well...
I have a pair, and they are quite bulky.

Plus, you do know we are heading south, right? Heavy leather may be great up in the cooler regions of Germany ::yes::, but wearing that in the tropics my get a might bit uncomfy.
:scratchin Well, on the other hand, you could sweat off the extra few trips to the buffet :rotfl:

:offtopic: See, the DIS is a great place to get to know people :joker:
If we continue on though, people may begin to think we are serious.
As for me, I am become curious of the jokes that await me on board:laughing:

    Hey everyone!
I just recently found out my dad booked our second Disney Cruise! Which at first was totally exciting, but after awhile, I found myself dreading a little bit of it.

I had so much fun on the first one, I had just turned 16 and made some amazing friends on the Disney Dream, around 8 of which I am still in frequent contact with. Five of them have actually visited me within the past few months, and I have plans to see two others within the year.

And although the cruise itself was fun, I can't help but think it won't be as fun without my friends. I try to imagine what I would have done without them, maybe get my nails done, get some free ice cream and tan or visit the pool or something. But honestly, that can be okay for a few days, but I can see myself getting really lonely afterwards. My favorite parts of the trip were just staying up until midnight running around with my friends and sitting on the empty deck as we talked for hours or grabbing food and just watching the ocean. If I didn't have them I would have been really lonely.

So now I'm dreading going on the ship and meeting new people. I'm very social and tend to make friends very easily, that's not a problem, what is a problem is the age range.

Disney Cruises are often aimed at families with young children, and on my last cruise the majority of everyone in the teen club was 14-15. Hardly anyone 16-17. Only two of the 8 people I grew close with were 16. The rest were all 15. I remember there being like two 17 year olds who showed up to Vibe once and left and just a handful of other 16 year olds who showed up once and left as well and I didn't see the rest of the trip.

I had fun in vibe, and I'll be turning 17 a month before my cruise, so I'll still be allowed in, but I'm worried there will be no one my age in there. Does anyone know if there will be any other 17 year olds on the cruise that will probably frequent the Vibe? It might make me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one like on my last cruise!

I can't speak for the number of older teens in the whole group, but out of the 40 some cabins that are in our FE, there are 3 in that age bracket, and one 15 year old. Plus you makes 5
If you're going to be 17 I am sure you can do the math. There are 4000 cabins onboard. I just gave you a sampling of 40 cabins. Out of which there were already 5 in that group.
As for our teens experience, there were about 15 to 20 in that age group last time. Each cruise is different.
Something we have learned from our 5 Disney cruise (all when the kids were pre teens to teens), that I have shared with the group before, is that you need to go with an open mind. This will not be exactly like your last cruise. If you expect it to be, you're setting your self for disaster (quoted from our previous teen cruiser). On our second cruise, our oldest had certain expectations. When things did not go the way he expected, he ruined everyones trip. He knew better on our 3rd cruise. He went with an open mind, excited to experience new things. We let him help with the planning, including looking at available Navigators to see how he wanted to spend his day.
So, don't despair. Plan to have fun, and every thing else will fall into place.

Finally....a piece of advice from someone who's been there (specifically a past teenage Disney cruiser) Be optimistic. The worst that could happen is that there are only 5 in your age group, and you only connect with 1 person. If you have an open mind, the 2 of you could have the time of your lives.

That's what I'm hoping. I wouldn't mind having less people to connect with, as long as I have at least one or two I know I could make the best of it. I have no intentions of bringing anyone down or making my family feel bad because I haven't made any friends! If worst comes to worst I bring a bunch of books and let myself get a killer tan :). But hearing those odds makes me feel better, and you're right, every cruise is different. Just because my last one had only 3 older teens, doesn't mean this one will. Thanks!

I didn't know that age-related discrimination is politically correct on the ship - please be aware that a 15year old may sue you for your not deeming him/her suitable as a friend :rotfl2:

As the organizer of four cruise groups so far, I can tell you that for each of the cruises all attending kids and teens found several peers of their respective age. As Tink said: Keep an open mind you're gonna have a whale of a time :thumbsup2

    Tink,
as I'm from Hesse I don't even own Lederhosen. Those are worn only in Bavaria. So you won't see me in them on formal night. I'll wear a tux or a suit ;)
But if I remember the temperature setting in the restaurants correctly a Lederhose wouldn't be too warm.

Howdy, and welcome to the group Texas lady
    :welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
Your cutting it close, the cut off date for the FE is the 26th of July.
You made it in just under the wire. I will posted an updated post next.

Also, if you have read our *entire* :scared1: thread, you know that we have a group page. I will send you an invite to that shortly. The group page is where you can let your fellow FEer's know a little more about yourself, and you can find out more about them. Plus, there are picture shares, great conversations, planning tools, meet sign ups and on and on.

Another thing as a Texan, I would also like to invite you to be part of Team Texas. I am designing shirts, and we hope to have a meet before the cruise.

Anywho, welcome to the group. We are excited to have you.
If you have any questions, or need any help, we are an eager group with several past cruisers. So ask away. :chat:

I'm not planning to discriminate, I made plenty of younger friends on my previous cruise. But my little sister will be turning 15 two months before the cruise and I can already tell she'd be annoyed/upset/weirded out if I'm friending a lot of people her age. She can be sort of argumentative and I'd like to avoid causing any sort of fight with her even over the littlest things while on the cruise. I'd imagine it's easier to just keep the peace while trapped on the same boat for a week! (Not that I mind being trapped on one as amazing as the Fantasy!) She's one of those kids that likes to do her own thing, and probably won't want her older sister hanging around her, and I'd like her to have a good time too, so leaving her alone to make all her friends would be best. She isn't the type to hang out with anyone older though, so making friends my own age would be ideal.:)

I can feel with you. I also have a little sister who's just 15 months younger than me and we had some 'interesting' times when we were teenagers ;)

Just recently she got really mad: We were talking in front of her house when one of her neighbors she's friends with came by. Sis introduced me as her brother and after some small talk the neighbor asked me 'Did your older sister give you a hard time when you were kids?' which definitely made my day :lmao:

This will be our first Disney cruise & we are so excited! Our group is a grandmother, 2 daughters, 1 granddaughter and aunt. We would like to be included in the FE. I'm new at all of this--took me forever to figure out how to post--hope I've done it right, so any hints as to how I use this DIS board will be greatly appreciated.

You did a great job posting.
As for the DIS, you can navigate our thread with the numbered pages. If you get a private message, you will get a notice up in the yellow box in the top right corner. If you click on your name in the same box, it will take you to where You can customize your preferences (if you are not getting email updates, make sure you approve it. ..you may also need to check thread options near the top of the page).
With the how to's out of the way,
    Let me officially welcome you.
    :welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
I will be sending you an invitation to our group page in just a few minutes. Check that yellow box I was talking about. When it says you have a message, click on it. The message will open like an email.
Our group page is where we are organizing the FE info. I will add your name to the list on here (I will edit the post a few entries back), but we will still need cabin and cruiser info (there are places on the group page for this info).
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. We have a great number of helpful past cruisers ready to help.

    Tink,
We have yet to get our cabin number so I hope that will not be a problem when setting everything up for the FE. I am hoping we do get it soon!
Will post and let you know as soon as we get it, we look everyday.:surfweb: I wish they would give it to us when we finished paying for it, over a month ago.

Ok most everyone in our group has there pirate pirate:costume, except myself and my son. Hope we can find or make something before we leave for the cruise. Anybody have great luck finding a pirate costume that was worth buying. Pretty crafty so I may make one but finding the time is so hard.
