After receiving this text update from Roma and informing her that she was the first of the day, I checked my email and found the earlier sent update from Candice. So I'm giving both ladies the Scavenger Hunt point for the First Update of the Day.

Here is what Roma sent us...

Note from jabead: For those of you unfamiliar with this, I believe that this chocolate drink is from the Chocolate Experience exhibit at the F & W Festival Center. Here is a description I found here about this exhibit and drink.

chocolateMinnie said, "Just breakfast for DD and me...the boys refused to join us. The buffet is mainly fruit, pastries and fish/salami/cheese. The cooked breakfast is still nice and those potatoes are amazing." ​

Celebration Mini-Cake

chocolateMinnie said, "I arranged this with them a couple of weeks before we left. Was very impressed with the cake (although they are tiny) and the presentation was lovely. My kids were very surprised to find it when we returned from our day out and the napkins were swans, as were our towels that day. The cost quoted was $40 however when my bill arrived it was charged to my room with delivery and service charge for $53 total. It was a red velvet cake with butter cream frosting."

chocolateMinnie said, "I have to say the breakfast sandwich looked disgusting and the potatoes were dry and neither of them were keen to try the experience again...our worst counter service at WDW ever. Later in the week we returned but stuck to the pastries and fruit, which mostly looked the same as the pastries from the Boardwalk Bakery...assume they are supplied by them. The beautiful chocolate croissant was the best pastry of the trip." ​

Cyndi said, "Sitting poolside, it's beautiful here. We never did really do dinner last night, but we went to CP for breakfast this morning. Had scrambled eggs, Mickey waffles, bacon, sausage, toast, salmon, fruit, biscuits and gravy, and scones. Everything was really fresh and delicious, especially the pineapple. I also loved the scones. Service was good, characters fun as always!"

If you like pecan pie...or chocolate...or mousse...or delicious food in general - run don't walk to this little guy."

Here is what they tried...

Roma said, "This was delicious. Tasted like pumpkin pie."

From Belgium: Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream
& Stella Artois


Roma said, " The waffle was fluffy, hot and paired wonderfully with the berries. We both enjoyed the Stella."

Grey Goose Citron Lemonade Slush


Roma said, "We got to France and I had to take a detour for a Grey Goose Slushie. We fought over it! So good."

From France: "Coq au Vin sur gratin de macaroni" (Red Wine braised Chicken, Mushrooms, Pearl Onions and Macaroni Gratin)



Roma said, "The chicken was slightly tough but the macaroni, sauce, and mushrooms were excellent."

Roma said, "By this point we were feeling like quite the gluttons! I loveeee Scotch eggs and this was no exception. They are too sinful to have often so I limit myself to Disney."

Roma said, "Mr. Roma did not like this and said it was ick. However, he was feeling full and slightly ill so his opinion may be slightly colored. I thought it was okay. The top bun was hard but the bottom bun was soggy."​

On Wednesday, October 31st, chocolateMinnie & family had dinner at the Yacht Club's Signature Restaurant...

chocolateMinnie said, "This surpassed our expectations. Was far better than Le Cellier which we didn't expect. They were very accommodating here too, as you could combine any entree off the menu with any side order including the ones advertised at extra charge (without paying oop) or a baked potato.

The rolls and wine first. The onion rolls are just as good as they say and DH and I enjoyed our Merlot wine flight. Unfortunately I didn't feel that I could walk around EPCOT if I also consumed the Port flight but boy was I tempted.

Also lots of nice activities at the resort that night for Halloween."

chocolateMinnie said, "So DH and DS both chose the filet served as per the menu with mashed potatoes and cabernet sauce. Both enjoyed them.

I had the ribeye but swapped my side for the truffle mac n cheese. Where to start? The steak was butter soft but the mac, well put it this way I had to fight them all off for my fair share. Hoping I can find the recipe somewhere.

DD (all of 10 years old) loves her steak and went for the porterhouse. Photo with her hand to compare the size. She ate it all but did have to leave her jacket potato.

No picture of DS soft drink but he tried pomegranate lemonade for the first time and loved it. I don't blame him I feel the same about the pomegranite kir at EPCOT."

"The complimentary birthday cupcake was sweet."

"Both children had the Yachtsman Sundae but without the cherry sauce."

chocolateMinnie said, "Sorbet again for DH and I had the salted peanut cake. It was the joint best dessert of the trip."

chocolateMinnie said, "We had promised ourselves that we would try sunshine seasons this trip. We always look at the pictures of fellow Disers and like the look of it. We had pastries from BC marketplace for breakfast and an early lunch here. DD had the rotisserie chicken while DH and I both had the chicken ceasar salad. DS had two of our three desserts - a fruit cup and the New York cheesecake. I also had a NY cheesecake and have to say this was probably one of the best cheesecakes I've ever eaten in my life."

chocolateMinnie said, "We ate here back in 2007 and went for the skillet. Having said which, with recent reviews we did almost cancel. So glad we didn't as we had a fantastic meal and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a family style USA meal.

DS and I got the refillable milkshakes. Just took the picture of one (the chocolate), which was mine. He also sampled the caramel (not to my taste) and the strawberry (very, very sweet). Would definitely have the chocolate if I went again.

Our server (Freckles/Gretchen) was lovely. She brought out the cornbread and then we ordered a Navajo bread, as DD has been learning about Native Americans and wanted to try this. It was lovely and if the meal wasn't "all you could eat" (you paid oop for the navajo bread...they still offer apps to pay for oop at dinner) we would have ordered more. She was the only person who didn't enjoy it.

For entree, you do choose three meats first (as often reported). We went for the ribs, chicken and beef. They bring this out with mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and stir fry vegetables. A separate dish of cowboy beans comes too. Then they return with the other two meats automatically (we didn't have to order them). There was a white fish topped with seasoned breadcrumbs which was really nice but I didnt' take photos and a spicy sausage (more like a Spanish chorizo). You then keep re-ordering whatever you like until you are done. We loved all of the entree platter. We were brought dessert, though we weren't really hungry, and I have to say it was pretty much disgusting." ​
