Is there anything we're allowed to bring in to sit on? I don't mean for in line but for watching/waiting for parades, etc. can you bring stadium cushions for example?

Stadium cushions are allowed, and are valuable for the aluminum benches at Fantasmic!, but elsewhere for fireworks and parades, I'm not sure what you'd sit the cushions on.

I am amazed at the things I see people dragging into WDW. They will be allowed. You could set them on the ground and they would work nice.

It's mostly for my mom. She has a hard time sitting in the ground, so I thought maybe it'd help, and I'd get a little less complaining about it this trip She isn't old enough to need/want a wheelchair but the sitting gets to her back

My friend, who goes to the parks almost daily, was telling me that he's seen that Disney has been removing a lot of their bench seating around the parks. I always joke with him that he needs to set up the business down there and sell Seat Canes. You see a lot of seniors use these in the casino. A nice cane that folds out to a seat. You should be able to google it.

Great question! I wish we could bring something comfy to sit on. DH has sciatica sometimes and a small camping tripod chair would be great to have (we could put it in a locker and then just get it for the parade and fireworks) I am not sure this would be allowed though???

I know folding chairs aren't allowed. I thought cane seats were allowed to be brought in, but not allowed to be used as a chair?

I saw a cane chair being used last week, but it could have been that I just didn't see cast member interaction that came later. Frankly, I am trying to figure out why Disney thinks it is better to make people stand all the time. There are definitely many fewer benches than there used to be. I guess people who are seated aren't spending money, but it seems like people who are exhausted from standing all the time leave the parks and don't spend money.

Cushions and towels and blankets are fine. Folding chairs are not permitted. I hear cane chairs may be allowed but can't be in use for long periods of time or in traffic areas. Rollators (like walkers on wheels with a little bench seat) are also allowed.

I saw someone using one of those cane chairs when we were in the MK in April, I also saw people using those walkers with the built in seats. As far as I know those are both permitted, but folding chairs are not. I would assume the ban on folding chairs has to do with them being a tripping hazard, much like rolling coolers and wagons.

Ok thanks! I know mom isn't interested in a ecv or wheelchair, as it is just the standing that hurts her. I will pass the ideas along

My husband and I (on separate occasions) weren't fifty yet when we each needed a wheelchair. Age has nothing to do with it.

Oh sorry, I know better than to say it like that. No offense intended, it was just my stupidity . I should say her fibromyalgia hasn't reached a point where she is willing to use a wheelchair. I pushed for it last year and she adamantly refused

Ironically I needed a wheelchair on a wdw trip when I was 12, so I really do know better

For information (and FWIW, I work Parade Audience Control) , all seating devices on the parade routes and for fireworks, must have wheels. No stationary chairs (and this includes "cane seats") or devices are allowed. Do some still "sneak in", of course, but in every parade meeting ( at least it seems like - every day and every night) we are told to be watchful for stationary chairs.

Would the inflatable bath cushions or stadium cushions be allowed?

Had to google "inflatable bath cushion" to see what it was, had never heard or seen that before. I would think it would although I have never seen one used or discussed at meetings. Stadium cushions, as long as they didn't have backs should be OK. Basically, any type of "seat cushion" should be OK, just not a stationary chair with legs (unless it has wheels).

The safety aspect has to do with the potential of an emergency such as a float steering malfunction, building fire or similar that would cause guests to abandon their position quickly (emergency), leaving stuff behind that would cause a tripping hazard to other guests. Same reasoning is used for not sitting in front of trash cans ( we always say you can't be in front of, on top of or inside of a trash can), fences and so on, as having something "at your back" would restrict your ability to clear in the event of a street emergency.
