I watched Miyuki this trip and was totally in awe of her skill - don't know how she does it.

I never made it to Lotus Blossom this trip - what did you think?

Great PP pics - I love the one of your mum with Belle.

Ugh, I never get to see any of the Epcot performers, we are never there at the right times! :rotfl:

Sounds like you guys got a lot done! I love the PP pictures, especially the one with Belle, she's my favorite! :lovestruc

I am sorry that y'all missed Miuyki! We were at EPCOT on Sunday and the girls were upset that she wasn't doing shows that day. The nerve of her to take a day off! ;)

Just catching up!! I love all of your photopass pictures!! I am so glad to hear you guys enjoyed Chefs, it was one of our faves during the trip and Remy is adorable!! I loved the video you posted, that was too cute of him singing! :goodvibes what a fun job it must be to act as Remy's handler!!

oh and I always enjoy the Beverly surprise!! thats hilarious!

I kind of left this TR hanging, didn't I? Sorry about that, but I hope to wrap this up soon… so be prepared for many updates!

Tuesday was our day at HS. We were all feeling the effects of all the walking we did the day before… I told the others that since there were quite a few things at HS we were going to skip, we could probably be done and out of the park by 6:00.

I'm not sure what time we left the condo, but we were at HS and through security by 8:55. After watching the opening show, we followed the masses to TSM! Our plan was to ride first, then grab FPs to use later.

IMG_4702.jpg

IMG_4701.jpg

Mom, Heather, and Helen loved TSM (as I knew they would!)

We then made our way over to Sunset Blvd for TofT and RnR. Mom doesn't like thrill rides, so didn't mind at all to sit these out. She grabbed a cinnamon roll and cup of coffee from Catalina Eddie's and sat down to wait for the rest of us. Heather, Helen, and I headed for RnR first, where the wait time was listed as 20 minutes, but it took just about 15 to get through the line. RnR turned out to be Heather and Helen's favorite ride, hands down. As we exited the ride, I looked over and noticed the wait time was now down to 10 minutes! So we jumped in line to ride again, before heading back up to TofT. When we got to ToT, its wait was listed as 30 minutes (!) so we decided to try again later.

It had started to sprinkle as we were walking from RnR to TofT… of course, by the time we made our way over to where Mom was sitting, it was pouring. The rain lasted about 15 minutes, and we just sat at the table to wait it out. When the rain was back to just a drizzle, we walked over to Art of Animation. We bypassed the characters and headed straight for the next animation class. I think we waited a good 10 or 15 minutes. When Angie, Kat, and I did the class a few days prior, we drew Jiminy Cricket… this time around, the character everyone learned to draw was Mickey:

IMG_4710.jpg

Once our animation class was over, I checked the lines app on my phone to see what the time for ToT was… and it was listed as just 10 minutes! So we headed back that way to ride, as well as to grab FPs for RnR to use later. Heather wasn't a fan of ToT, but Helen loved it just as much as I do!

By this time, it was almost time for lunch. We had an ADR for Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at 12:20. It was about 12:15 when we got there to check in… unfortunately, it was about 12:45 before we were seated. Lunch was good, but we all agreed not as good as our lunch at Les Chefs the day before!

After lunch, we went over to Streets of America to watch MV:3D. Helen is a HUGE Muppets fan, so there was no way she was going to miss this! And of course, she loved it. We also walked around a bit, but didn't do any other attraction in this area (I'm not really sure why we didn't!)

It was around 3:00 when we made we made our way back through Commisary Lane… the plan was to head to the Great Movie Ride, use our FPs for TSM, and ride RnR and ToT a few more times. On the way, we stopped at the ABC Commisary to use the bathroom. Helen and I finished first and walked back outside… as we were waiting for Mom and Heather, I pointed out to Helen that the AIE audition rooms were right across from where we were. Helen thought it over for about 10 seconds, and then told me she was going to go try out!

Mom and Heather came out from the bathroom, and I told them where Helen went. We sat down on the wall outside the Commisary to wait… and wait.. and wait. After about 20 minutes, I got up and went over to the CMs standing outside the audition building. I told them our friend had gone in to audition awhile ago… before I could say anything else, one of the CMs asked if I meant Helen. He then told us she had passed the 1st audition, and would then have to sing for the "producer"!

Would Helen pass the 2nd round of her AIE audition? Stay tuned to find out!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed TSM - what's not to love about that attraction?!

Oh no on skipping ToT - am glad you went back to it later. Oh no on Heather not being a fan.

Congrats on Helen making it through the first auditions of AIE - how exciting! :cool1:

Yes, I'm back and (finally!) updating my TR!

Though I'm sure everyone has forgotten about me due to my long absence, I really want to get all the details and memories of my trip written down. So here I am to finish posting about my fabulous trip! And I promise I really will finish it this time! We left off with Helen having gone to audition for the American Idol Experience...

While Helen was going through the 2nd round of auditions for AIE, Mom, Heather, and I decided to pass the time by going on the Great Movie Ride. While on the ride, I got a text from Helen saying she had made it on to the 5:00 show! She told us to be at AIE by 4:30 to be let in for VIP seating. Awesome, right?!

It was around 4:00 when we got off the GMR. We stopped at a cart right outside the attraction to get a few snacks… Heather got a Mickey ice cream bar, Mom chose a pretzel, while I got a churro. We took our snacks back to the Commissary and found a table. Then it was time to head over to watch Helen perform!

Mom, Heather, and I were at AIE promptly at 4:30. We waited a few minutes, and then a CM came to let us and the families of the other contestants into the theater, where rehearsal was going on! Here are pics of Helen during the rehearsal (photos weren't allowed during the actual show):

IMG_4719.jpg

If no one has seen the AIE show before, I really hope I don't spoil anything by telling how the show works! But here goes (and I hope this makes sense):

Before the 1st contestant sings, there's a video shown of the current American Idol winner wishing them luck and basically giving them a pep talk. The girl who sang first was good and got pretty positive remarks by the "judges"… the song she sang was "No One" by Alicia Keys, which is a love song, and all the judges said if she made it through to the final show she needed to bring more passion to her performance.

Before the 2nd contestant sings, the video that is shown is of the actual contestant… they're filmed and talk about why they decided to audition, why they love the show, stuff like that. The contestant who sang next was really, really, good. He sang "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and really sold it. I don't remember what all the judges said about his performance, but they loved him and had nothing but positive things to say.

Then it was Helen's turn! For the 3rd contestant, the video that is shown is of the audience that has been waiting outside for the next AIE to start! So the video shown was of the crowd chanting, "Helen! Helen! Helen!" And then an adorable little girl was shown saying to the camera, "Helen, you're my American Idol!" Helen sang "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and was AWESOME! Not that I'm biased or anything, but she rocked it! The judges were pretty positive… except for the last guy. He had to go and say he didn't think Helen had any chance in making it to the final show. Booooo!

Needless to say, the 2nd contestant won. But Helen had a blast and was so happy she had the AI experience!

Once the show was over, Mom, Heather, and I headed outside to wait for Helen. She came out and as she was telling us about her auditions, the little girl that was shown saying Helen was her American Idol came up to us with her parents! Her dad said she had noticed us as they were walking by and she was all excited, pointing and saying, "Look! There she is! There's Helen!" and asked if Helen would pose for a picture with his daughter… how sweet is that?!

IMG_4726.jpg

When we started our day at HS, I mentioned to the others that we should be able to be done with this park by 6:00… since there were many attractions/shows we had no plans to see, I didn't think we'd be spending the entire day. Yeah, that so did not happen. It was almost 6:00 by the time we were done with AIE, and we still had FPs for RnR and TSM to use, and Helen wanted to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid. So we headed back over to Sunset Blvd first.

Today's birthday surprise for Mom was going to be a Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake from Starring Rolls… we could stop and get Mom her cupcake and she could enjoy it while we rode the thrill rides. Perfect, right? Except for the little glitch of Starring Rolls closing at 4:00. Ooops!

We went on to ride ToT and RnR, and then went to VotLM before making our way down to use our TSM FPs. We were all hungry by this point and thought pizza sounded like a good idea… back over to Pizza Planet. Well, places being closed was apparently the theme of the day. By the time we made it over to Pizza Planet it was about 7:45… and they closed at 7:30. D'oh!

Since we were in the area, we stopped in at Writer's Stop… since I missed out on the cupcakes at Starring Rolls, I figured I'd get a Carrot Cake Cookie. It was good. I would've preferred the cupcake, though. We did get Mom something from Writer's Stop to make up for the cupcake, but I can't remember what goodie she chose!

Heather and Helen wanted to look in the shops back up on Sunset and Hollywood Blvds… so we did a little shopping before leaving the park just before 9:00. As we were walking out, we saw these cartoon characters "drawn" on the ground with water:

IMG_4728.jpg

We left HS and ended up ordering a pizza when we got back to the condo. Before going to bed we talked about the plans for the next day. We would be spending the day at MK, and had a 10:20 breakfast ADR at Crystal Palace. Mom asked why we had to be at MK so early if we weren't eating until 10:20… I knew her, Helen, and Heather were tired so we all decided we'd sleep in a little bit the next morning and not rush to get to the park for rope drop. I hoped we would get to MK early enough to get in at least one attraction before breakfast… stay tuned to find out if that happened!

Yippee!! You are back!

So glad that Helen had fun with her AI experience.

I saw some of those water "paintings" while we were there, too - but didn't think to take pictures of them. Can I "borrow" them from you to put on my Disney blog??

Sure! Let me know if you can "grab" them, or if I need to send you a thumbnail.

When we got back to our condo Tuesday night, Mom, Helen, and Heather were feeling the effects of walking non-stop at Epcot and HS. (Not to mention that I was on my 6th straight day of touring Disney World!) Mom asked why on Earth we were getting to MK the next morning so early if our ADR for breakfast wasn't until 10:20! I explained (for the millionth time) that the earlier you get to the parks the better… but to keep the peace, I agreed we didn't have to get there for rope drop. I hoped to get to MK in time to ride at least one attraction before breakfast. Alas, that didn't happen!

Wednesday morning we all "slept in" until about 8:15… but we didn't leave the condo until almost 9:45! I was thinking it was going to be pretty close for us to make our 10:20 ADR. I figured we'd end up being about 10 minutes late but didn't think it would be a big deal.

We made it to the TTC with the plan to take the monorail over to MK. Unfortunately, the MK monorail was not running for some reason. Which meant EVERYone arriving at the TTC who was going to the MK had to take the ferry. I couldn't tell you how many people were in line… but the crowd was massive. At 10:20, the time we should've been at the Crystal Palace, we were still in line for the ferry! Now I was really starting to stress!

We finally made it on a ferry and through the MK gates… only to be held up on Main Street because of the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Block Party. At this point, I actually stopped stressing over our missed ADR. There wasn't anything I could do about it… we'd just go check in and hope to be seated for lunch instead of breakfast.

It was 11:10 by the time we made it to the Crystal Palace. I walked up to the window and explained to the CM that we missed our ADR. She said it was ok, they could get us in for lunch… but since seating for lunch didn't start until 11:30 we'd have about 20 minutes to wait. I assured her that was absolutely not a problem!

It was 11:35 when our name was called, and I think we were the 3rd party called to be seated for lunch. As we walked into the restaurant, Pooh came right up to us and we stopped to say hi! He ended up taking Heather by the hand and escorting her to our table. And since he was already at our table, Pooh went ahead and stayed for photos and to sign Mom's autograph book. And it wasn't very long before Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet came to our table, too:

Our waitress, Linda, was the best. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the buffet (since none of us had been there for lunch before).

DSCN6088.jpg

I'd been to CP for breakfast on previous trips, but I wasn't sure what the selections would be on the lunch buffet. I was pleased with everything I tried… there wasn't any dish that I did not like. And there were many that I really liked!

Near the end of our lunch, Linda brought a cupcake and birthday card for Mom:

IMG_4754.jpg

(I'm sure she thought this was her "birthday surprise" for the day… oh, if she only knew what was in store for her later that evening!)

After lunch, we headed over to Adventureland and Frontierland. We hopped on the Jungle Cruise first, and then Heather and Helen went through the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse (Mom doesn't like heights, and I just decided to keep her company).

We then rode POTC and met Pirate Goofy right after:

Photo0339FourBySix.jpg

Next, we got FPs for BTMR before heading over to the Haunted Mansion. We all loved the new queue!

After riding HM, we made our way to Fantasyland. During the planning of our trip, Helen said she had no desire to ride IASW… but Heather told her, "You can't come to Disney World for the first time and NOT ride IASW!" So, ride it we did. We grabbed FPs for Peter Pan and then rode the carousel, Dumbo, Philharmagic, Snow White, and the Mad Hatter teacups.

IMG_4784.jpg

By now the clouds had rolled in and it was beginning to rain. We decided to use the Peter Pan FPs and then grab something for dinner.

Stay tuned to find out if the rain put a damper on our evening plans!

After Peter Pan, we headed to Pecos Bill's for dinner. We all chose the taco salad, which was really good. I would definitely eat there again. Mom stayed at our table while Heather, Helen, and I went to use our FPs for BTMR. We went back to get Mom, then all headed over to Tomorrowland where Heather and Helen went on Space Mountain. While Mom and I waited for them, it began to pour. And I mean POUR. Knowing what we had planned for later, I was a tad worried about Wishes being canceled. I found a CM and asked if the fireworks would still go on if it was raining, and was told yes (thank goodness!). Rain was ok, as long as it wasn't windy.

Thankfully, by the time Heather and Helen finished with Space Mountain, the rain had pretty much stopped. But with the huge amount of rain that had fallen, it was wet everywhere. I told Mom we could make our way to Main Street to look at the shops, then maybe we could find seats on the Crystal Palace porch to wait for Wishes.

Before going to Main Street, we all rode Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin… and since there was no line, we rode it again. Unbeknownst to Mom, we were really just trying to kill time before heading to her birthday surprise for the day… the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party!

After Buzz, we walked towards the Castle hub… but when we reached the sign for the Dessert Party, I pointed to it and told Mom, "This is where we're going to watch the Fireworks!" She was so surprised!

IMG_4793-1.jpg

We stopped to have a PhotoPass pic taken and then made our way into the restaurant. We waited in line for just a few minutes before being seated at our assigned table, which was right next to the rail. The dessert buffet had a ton of variety! Drinks offered were water, iced tea, milk, lemonade, as well has coffee and hot tea. Here's one of my dessert plates:

IMG_4796.jpg

(clockwise from top: brownie, chocolate covered strawberry (you can just see it peeking out), fruit tart, peanut butter tart, chocolate mousse, Rice Krispie treat, mango shooter… in the middle of the plate is a pound cake with whipped frosting)

The only dessert we didn't like was the mango shooter. It was pretty sour! Heather and Helen loved the tiramisu, while the chocolate mousse was my favorite.

We had our fill of desserts and then settled in to wait for Wishes to start!

Here's a pic I took from our table:

IMG_4810.jpg

You can see the overhang above, but still it was a pretty great view. A lot of people stayed seated during the fireworks (Mom was one of them) but many people came up to stand at the rail. Even with people standing in front of her, Mom could still see. Here are some pics from the rail viewpoint:

IMG_4837.jpg

The Dessert Party was a lot of fun! I would definitely do it again, and hope to during our next family vacation to WDW as I know my daughters would love it!

IMG_4806.jpg

After the party, we finally did make our way to Main Street for a little shopping before catching the ferry back to the TTC. Once we got back to the condo, everyone went to bed… our last day would be spent at Animal Kingdom and I was determined we'd be there for rope drop!

Here are our MK PhotoPass pics!

Thursday morning everyone woke up on time and we left the condo around 8:30. Our last day at WDW would be spent at AK, and we made it to the park and through the turnstiles by 9:00… yay!

Mom, Heather, and Helen made their way back to KS, while I ran to get FPs for EE. I then joined the others at KS… they really enjoyed the safari, especially Mom. AK is her favorite park, and the safari is her favorite ride.

Once our "two week" safari was over, I grabbed FPs for later, then we walked through the Pangani Trail. After this, we headed over to EE to use those FPs… all except Mom, of course.

EE is one of my favorites (it may be #1, but it's hard to choose between EE and ToT!) and Helen loved it, too. Heather… not so much! She likes roller coasters, but she said the backwards part on EE was too much for her! Once we finished with the ride she went to go sit with Mom, while Helen and I jumped back in line to ride again! We went through the single-rider line and only waited maybe 10 minutes.

We then walked around a bit, waiting for our tummies to settle before eating lunch. In one of the shops, the CM behind the cash register told Mom she had a phone call… it was from Goofy, wishing her a "Happy Birthday!"

birthdaycall-1.jpg

For lunch, we decided on the Anandapur Cafe (Yak & Yeti counter service). Mom and I shared the Honey Chicken, while Heather and Helen shared the Sweet and Sour Chicken. They also had the Pork Egg Rolls.

Afterwards, we walked the Maharajah Jungle Trek before seeing ITTBAB. Then we walked over to see FotLK. I think we had to wait about 30 minutes for the next show to start.

monkeys.jpg

My favorite part of FotLK… the monkeys!

Once the show was over we headed back to EE so Helen and I could ride again… in fact, we ended up going twice! Then it was time to use our safari FPs.

By this time we had seen all the attractions we wanted, and decided to call it a day at AK. We did a little more shopping on our way out of the park… it was about 4:00 when we made it back to our car.

We had a 6:25 ADR at Boma… and the plan was for Heather and I to surprise Mom and Helen with their La Nouba tickets during dinner. But on the way to the car, Mom and Helen were saying how tired they were (we all were, really) and looking forward to putting their feet up. Mom even asked if we could skip dinner and just grab something quick on the way back to the condo.

Uh, oh… would the surprise go up in smoke? Stay tuned to find out...
