Coming soon... Twilight Land, complete with sparkly vampires, werewolves, and a show where you experience the birth of Reneseme in 3D.
(If all Disney is going to do is chase hot movie franchises, I can see that's where this is headed.)
Now that was hilarious!! I'm thinking a Vamp League...you can be sparkly or you can be an irritating, morose, moony teenaged girl.
Honestly, I'm not sure where I come down on this, but I think I'm tentatively positive on the idea. I liked Avatar. I loved the environmental message (hardcore leftist is me, and I can't imagine how anyone could be against environmentalism
), enjoyed the beauty of it, and am looking forward to the sequels. I'm sure it will be really well done and I'll enjoy it.
I don't know if it belongs in WDW, but then again, I'm happy that they're trying something BIG here. Something different. It's not like Swiss Family Robinson was a ratings juggernaut, but somehow people love that. And believe me, I love the original Imagineered attractions as much as anyone (especially HM and POTC), but if they're competing against big moves like WWOHP by Universal, they need to go big. And what's going to draw in massive crowds? A massive, worldwide smash.
Maybe Avatar will be a Star Wars level classic series, maybe not. It doesn't mean they wouldn't have a hot attraction on their hands for the next 10 years or so. And then they make back their money, make a profit, and see that no one cares anymore, and they retheme it in 2030. It's probably still a win for Disney.
I do agree that if they retheme any AKL rooms I will be
. But I'm glad they're taking a risk, I'm glad they're going big, I'm glad they're going out of their comfort zone. And I do think Walt would have seen the potential and gone for it here. He was a pragmatist and a businessman.
