sorry for such a delay. life has gotten a wee bit crazy! however, here is an update. thanks for being patient!
updated 10/13/13
after brunch at palo, we found a surprise on our bed awaiting us.
this was an actual layout of our cabana! it was so cute! also included was a map, our cabana bracelets and a guide. it also included a beverage order sheet as well. i was getting so excited for our cabana the next day. we had cabana 10.
i'm not quite sure if i mentioned our cabana story. i wasn't sure if i wanted a cabana or not. the price was steep at $500 for a few hours. after my window opened up, all the cabanas online were gone. i was disappointed but i decided to give the onshore concierge team a call to see if one was available. luck was on my side as she let me know that cabana 10 (which was the first cabana built and has a perfect view of the fantasy from the cabana) was on "hold" for cases like this. i was told that the cabana is "reserved" in case a concierge guest wants to reserve it. i was so grateful & so happy!
after viewing the cabana display, i headed up to the private sun deck. the concierge staff was hosting a mixer for guests. i absolutely loved this sun deck. it was hardly ever busy, it was quiet and oh so relaxing. during happy hour, my favorite bartender NAMCHAN was serving up the drinks. it was the perfect time for me to unwind before the captain's gala (life is tough, i know!)
it was time to get ready for our formal dinner, the
CAPTAIN'S GALA. i'm not going to lie, some of the food had been really underwhelming on board the ship. most notably, the seafood was pretty terrible. i had high hopes for the lobster that was going to be served during dinner.
emme & kemisha!
emme once again not looking at the camera but my mom looks so pretty!
we ran into a friend on our way down to the royal court for the captain's gala.
emme showing mickey her minnie mouse. he loved the minnie!
classic emme pose of not looking at the camera.
i love this photo even though emme's not looking at the camera.
we arrived at the royal court and was seated at our private table. i really liked having our own table. it's a perk for being a concierge guest.
first, the bread service.
Sour Dough Bread with Roasted Red Pepper Dip
how CUTE is the holder?!?!
and i loved little details like this:
there was so many amazing details in every dining area. it was impeccable.
now time for some appetizers:
Asian Pear, Sweet Corn and Jicama Slaw - with avocado puree and lime vinaigrette garnished with mint leaves
the salad was refreshing although there was more jicama than asian pear. i love me some asian pear. there's no other fruit like it. so yummy!
next:
Wild Forest Mushroom Soup - swirled with white truffle oil
the soup had a really deep mushroom flavor. i actually enjoyed it even though the color is not very appetizing. the truffle oil definitely brought out the umami flavor of the dish.
Risotto
and the winner of the 3 appetizers was this risotto. it was almost as good as the risotto i had at the enchanted garden but this was more "cheesier". disney definitely had the risotto prepared properly on board the ship.
now, for the main course!
Oven-baked Lobster Tail - served in the shell with lemon butter, bean casserole, and saffron rice
OH YEAH! the lobster was awesome! it wasn't dry but succulent and so tender. the butter was perfect. i was really happy with the lobster. so happy, that my mom and i both ordered a second. i felt like a total gluttinous pig but there was a man who ate FOUR so two doesn't seem as bad.
my mom enjoying her lobster (the one meal she didn't complain about). also note the sambal sauce at our table. our servers were amazing!
after we were stuffed to the brim, it was time to head back to unwind and call it a night. i was so incredibly full. the last lobster was definitely overkill but man, was it good!
we ran into one more friend on our way back to our suite.
after a really relaxing sea day, it was time to cuddle up with emme, watch a movie and sleep as we had a big day ahead of us.
up next...
HELLO CASTAWAY CAY!!
