2/13-16/23 Magic Kingdom / EPCOT Trip Report FL Resident

Tickets and resort hotel: At present there is a very decent ticketing option for Florida residents visiting Mondays through Fridays. Disney World is offering a two day weekday ticket for $175 per person, a three day weekday ticket for $195 per person, and a four day weekday ticket for $215 per...

    Do old magic bands work?

Thanks. As long as they work for the resort, park entrance, VQ, ILL, and purchases I’m good. We always have the phones as backup but the bands are easier IMO.

    Do old magic bands work?

We are going to Disney World in February. It has been a while since our last trip back in February of 2020. We have magic bands that are actually a little older than that, probably 2018/19. When we made our current reservations the cast member confirmed those bands are still linked, and they...

What should my second theme park be this trip?

https://insidethemagic.net/2023/01/disney-execs-finally-see-park-conditions-zg1/ Check out this article, “Disney Execs Finally See “Insulting” Park Conditions”. It is dated 1/19/23 and it doesn’t paint a pretty picture of the current conditions at EPCOT. Is this accurate or exaggerated? A...

Overlooked gems at Magic Kingdom and Epcot

I heard the American Adventure was closing for a facelift. I hope it will still be open for our visit.

Overlooked gems at Magic Kingdom and Epcot

We will be visiting Magic Kingdom and Epcot in mid February. We have been to both parks numerous times. I am curious about generally overlooked places and things to do at these theme parks. Aside from the obvious attractions, what are your favorite things to do that may be often overlooked by...

What should my second theme park be this trip?

Agreed. We have never been to the festival of the arts. We will also be taking advantage of the food booths, although after checking out the prices I can tell that like everything else in Disney the cost is through the roof. $20 for a beer and a sampler plate. Seriously? 😂

What should my second theme park be this trip?

It surprises me that the Epcot construction has been ongoing for at least three years. Despite that I think we will make Epcot our second park this visit. The new (to us) rides are worth it, and you are right about Studios, it always feels crowded. We had planned a quick trip to only visit...

What should my second theme park be this trip?

Looking forward to that. Since we are in a resort I will try to score a virtual queue first thing in the AM. Hopefully that won’t be too tough in mid February. If I don’t succeed I may have to go for an ILL, although I hear that they have offered a second shot at the virtual queue at 1pm. Is...

    Help with Genie+ Rules

Got it. By the way, I watched the YouTube videos posted by Ear Scouts regarding Genie+ uses and strategies. They are very good and easy to follow.

What should my second theme park be this trip?

Hello, After a three year absence due to Covid and other things we are going back to Disney World in mid February. We are Florida residents so we have been to every theme park many times. The main reason for this trip is to experience the 50th anniversary theming before it goes away in March so...

    Help with Genie+ Rules

My understanding is that the modify feature is very useful but it doesn’t change the 7am two hour rule. That is to say if you select an attraction at 7am that has a return time of 12pm, and you are able to modify the return time to 9am you still have to wait until 11am to make the second...

    Help with Genie+ Rules

We will be there in mid February so hopefully all these rules will still apply.

    Help with Genie+ Rules

I see your point, but this is where the system is a failure for the guest. Either you roll the dice and select an attraction you want risking a late return time which limits your next selection until 2 hours after park opening, or you take a few seconds more to select any early return time for...

    Help with Genie+ Rules

How about if we use two cell phones and a linked account? That may solve the issue.

    Help with Genie+ Rules

By the way, I just read this in the Genie+ thread suggested above. This may be a hack to your issue of blind booking the first attraction at 7am. “Between 7:00 - 7:30AM, to see return times for attractions, click the attraction you’re considering booking. Return time will then be displayed.”

    Help with Genie+ Rules

Great minds think alike! 😂 Seriously, being able to secure popular attractions weeks in advance was a major bonus. If you knew what you were doing it was easy to create a great experience. Now it is luck of the draw and pay for play to boot. I’ve read that many, many people are opting out of...

    Help with Genie+ Rules

I’m not referring to paper fast passes. There was a time a few years back when as long as you were staying in a Disney resort you could select several fast passes online weeks prior to your visit. The only limit was they had to be at different times slots and there were categories of attractions...

    Help with Genie+ Rules

That is a hiccup! I had not heard that before. This system leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t like being a slave to the app all day and hoping my phone battery doesn’t die. The last time I was in DW was February of 2020. I had to deal with getting up at 4am to get to the studios and try to luck...

    Help with Genie+ Rules

Good advice. The cast member I spoke to on the phone told me her strategy is to select an attraction at 7am for as close to park opening as available, then do standby queues until the first reserved attraction time, click in, and immediately reserve another. She said using that “leapfrog” method...
