Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

If you check MDE it's says hours are unavailable.
when I first check MDE for my dates, it said the same as it had previously, but now, yep UNAVAILABLE - I suppose the new calendars are being filtered through to the app too...hope so...and hope it comes back soon!!

I am able to get into the calendar again - sporadically - lots of reloading - no changes to my travel dates (11/27 - 12/3) park hours, and no times available showing for ROL...or Star Wars dessert party.....drat....maybe it's still being worked on....

Same here. No noticeable changes. But website is still acting wacky as you said.

I am now getting a "Site Maintenance in Progress" message and can not see park hours. There is still hope!

9:30 pm and the website is still whacked. Some pages come up then turn to error, some come up but everything on the page is locked, then sometimes I get spinning spinning.....................aggravating.

Can anyone help me out? When they were doing fastpasses for JB, were they available for both shows or just the first?

On the same note, when they did dining packages for JB (they did dining packages, correct?), was it just TH, or Tiffins too? Were any other restaurants included?

What's the collective wisdom these days on ROL dining packages - probably the same or maybe other restaurants too? (Answers may include wild speculation and/or unsubstantiated rumors o_O )
I haven't seen any info on it THIS TIME AROUND, but might have missed something.

Last time around there was something on the hub that mentioned a Flame Tree option in addition to TH & Tiffins, but that never materialized once things went live.

ETA: FWIW, we loved Tiffins -- definitely going back. :)

Thanks! I remember the flame tree thing too! Initially my sister was into the Tiffins idea, but she looked at the menu and wasn't really interested - she is, however, interested in the Nomad Lounge! We're not doing the DP so that may be influencing her feelings on this as well, although I think if there were things on the menu that really intrigued her, she'd be into it - I was hoping to try it but will go with the flow! I'd just rather do a dining package than a FP for ROL if both are available...

Collective Wisdom - love it! I think us Loungers probably have more collective wisdom than some of those folks making decisions at the Mouse. I think it was Yulilin who had shared that the HUB was talking about FT along with TH and Tiffins. We were all pumped about the FT option but cautious since the theater is already so small (compared to Fantasmic) and will probably have the same if not more popularity so why ... when we thought it would be awesome (and it might be) and before we saw JB.

PERSONAL opinion ......... get the show up and operating and running more than once per night before adding a Dining Package. THEN add in to the two restaurants. Tiffins needs it for now. New, more exotic and hidden. I don't think the DDP is a great value there for the package but I do think that OOP is a good option and potentially you come out ahead plus get the show ticket. I would book that one and yet I don't book the Fantasmic. AND one reason is Fantasmic theater is huge, plenty of FP+ and seen it a million times.

Seriously don't think we'll hear anything to avoid MORE EGG on their face until this is in a good place.

OH A SIDE NOTE, DS was talking to me today after he was looking at some construction stuff ....

Animal Kingdom; the original park, a tremendous amount of prep and detailed work, plus animal introduction was built in 32 months. [August 1995 - April 1998]

Avatarland; IF it opens next April, a much smaller land with two attractions will have been built in 39 months (if it's all done). [January 2014 - April 2017]

Not to say the show didn't suck...lol... but I really think I was able to convert bc by the time JB packages came about, my date was already booked up with regular ADRs, so no one was able to book the package meaning there were tons of "package" space available. That very thing could occur for ROL if the restaurant is already booked with regular ADRs, therefore limiting package bookings even though packages are available.

I guess that could happen in the beginning, although I would sort of hope they'd run the show for a month or two without the dining package just to see how things go.

If they have any common sense (HAHAHAHAHA) they'll start this slow. No big fanfare this time, just a few soft openings, maybe starting with a Cast preview or something where it's not a disaster if the floats sink or things don't work. I just doubt that's what they're going to do.

I finally got chance to eat a at Tiffins today (alone! No kids! Woo how!) and it was really great. The atmosphere and the decor was great, and I loved the food. I'd definitely eat there again on the dining package if there was one.

Why? The theatre will be packed regardless -- why is it a problem if some of those seats are filled with people on dining packages? Seems like leaving money on the table for no reason to me... am I missing something?

I think it's easier (fewer complaints) for them to cancel fastpasses than dining packages if the show has to get taken out of commission for some unforeseen reason. Just a guess.

Wouldn't the restaurants already be full though with existing ADRs? They can't just create space to add the dining packages. And if they were intentionally under booking restaurants on the premise that ROL might/maybe/hopefully launch soon and they want to offer a dining package...well that seems more like leaving money on the table for no reason.
