Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I was not nervous about crowds in the least until everyone yesterday. In fact I was going with a rather relaxed attitude and other than booking FP and ADRs. We were just going to play it by ear and see where our moods led us. Now.... I feel like I need a better plan. Especially since we were originally planning 11/28 and 12/5 as MK days both are now predicted 9 days. I was mainly planning the parks based on the ADRs....

I almost feel like postponing until January or February :guilty:

We went in January the week after marathon weekend and it was still crazy a few days. February was fine except for the weekend where it was shoulder to shoulder in world showcase. I think the days of slow days at Disney are gone. We have vowed to never go to mk on a Friday or weekend because of our experiences.

I think you will be okay. You're more prepared now than you were before. Imagine how you would have felt if you walked into a parking thinking "1" and seeing "6" for crowds? It's still one of the slowest times to go, but it's slow RELATIVE to crazy busy like Thanksgiving week or Christmas/New Year's weeks. I'll be very interested to watch wait times over Labor Day weekend and in October. All these calendars can do is make predictions, they can still be wrong one way or the other. I'm looking forward to all the Christmas decorations and special activities. Those won't be there in January or February. :)

Maybe I should get a touring plans subscription. Do you think they've really got it figured out better than anyone else?

I followed our personalized plan for the first few hours of each day last trip and they were spot on. Like within a minute or two at each step. It was crazy!

That, and the wait times on the Lines app were far more accurate than the Disney wait times.

For $10 (with promo code UMBRELLA) I say totally worth it.

Also guys - TP's crowd predictions have not changed really. I think they are changing HOW they gauge it though. What used to be considered a 1 is now considered a 3/4, etc. there truly are no more slow times at Disney from what I've been reading.

Even people who go at peak summer time with a good plan are reporting they can do everything with only little waits. It's doable I'm sure!

Dont reschedule, then you be super jealous when we all come back and report how awesome of a time we had ;)

I never did actually USE any of our plans last time. I want to change that this time. I feel a lot better prepared this time and I'm looking forward to getting another chance!

My DH was seriously mocking my over planning and those plans until our first day. We walked into HS that morning and he realized how big the parks are haha. He hadn't been before (we did universal 12 years ago but he hadn't been to Disney since he was 4) and he looked at me and said "ok where does your plan tell us to go?" From then on he never mocked me! If we finished the morning plan early (which happened a few days!) he would ask me to check the lines app for wait times for something close too. He's a believer now for sure!

I told him I was on the fence about renewing since I had a better idea of how it all works and he told me we needed those plans haha.

Ok y'all have officially freaked me out! Here I was thinking my sister picked a nice slower, manageable time to go. This will probably the one and only trip for my nieces and I want them to be able to do as much as possible!

Sounds like almost everyone here has a subscription to touring plans. Is it worth it? Hope it's ok to ask about another site.

Very true! I'm sure we will be fine. But might be worth the few $ to ensure we have a better plan!

Been off the grid for a bit but now I'm back at it! I think I will sign up for TP. I'm getting nervous now. Last year went fine without it but eeeeeekkkkk. Plus my friend is going in Dec so she can use it too.

Also in response to cricut stuff u guys were talking about. I just got a new silhouette and it is amazing! I am making shirts for where my husband works and now I can make tons of Disney ones too! So excited!

Another question - 2.5 Year old on plane - car seat? No carseat? Cares harness?

I'm a safety freak at home (my 2.5 yo is still rear facing and my 7 year old is in a 5 point harness still) but the logistics of car seat on a plane and in the airport and lugging it around make me want to cry. He did great last fall as a lap infant, and I think he might be just fine staying buckled in his seat. But I don't know for sure.

Wwyd?
I didn't turn my DD forward facing until she was almost 3. She flew last year and sat with the lap belt fine without the carseat. I was considering the same thing but figured flying is stressful enough without lugging a carseat around the airport.

Hmm, you guys have me considering using a plan. We really took it easy last time but this time with the kids being bigger, maybe we can try a touring plan in the a.m. I have the TP sub already. Hmm.....

We did a Cares harness when we flew with Wes, he was almost 2-1/2. He sat fine, I felt more comfortable with the harness because he's pretty squirrely and we're pretty inexperienced fliers. I did an Ebay rental.

I'm late to the discussion on the TP adjustments but my heart sunk when I saw that e-mail! I feel ok about it now, I'm not going to change any plans...yet. lol I should have known all those 1's and 2's were too good to be true. Their explanation for the adjustments made sense. I'm waiting for Josh to finalize his numbers, I used his last time. Our last trip was mostly 4-5's and the only day I thought "felt" crowded was our Sunday at MK, that was a 6.

Anyone looking for H&V Minnie's dine on 11/29? I have one at 5pm I need to cancel.

Why? Because I must have been half asleep when I put the TP request in for that day. We will be at MK and having dinner at WCC lol.

I might want it if it's still available...how many is it for?

My TA suggested we consider going to MVMCP on Sunday night since we'll be there and don't plan to do a park that day. I had thought it would be really crowded and sold out for sure but she said perhaps not. She pointed out that most people who are there for Thanksgiving are there because that's the only time they can get off work or school. These are people who want to be home Saturday or Sunday because they have to go back to work/school first thing Monday morning. Hmm... she does have a point. The price is the same Sunday or Tuesday. Those of you here who are attending a party that week, which night are you going or thinking of going?
Kenny the Pirate says Sundays are his favorite nights. We are thinking about going on Sunday. It is either Sunday or Friday 12/2 for us. I'm thinking that Friday will be much busier.

I hope she is right about everyone leaving on Sunday because that is our first full day at the parks. I wanted to go to MVMCP on Tuesday but my family doesn't want to spend the extra money. I would thing Tuesday would be less busy than Sunday.
Last year Saturday was ridiculous. It took us 30m to get on the boat to HS and 30m to get from Epcot to HS on the boat. HS Osborne lights was so packed my husband refused to get anywhere close to it. Sunday was very light. We ended up just going to Epcot but it was low crowds even at night for the Illuminations.

Well, I'm on a selling frenzy to try to raise more $$ for our trip. We homeschool so I'm digging through my curriculum stockpiles and listing things left and right! lol I've sold over $100 worth of things so far and have another $200 worth listed. We'll see what happens. :teacher:
We are planning on homeschooling. Where do you get your supplies and curriculums? Just curious. We are new to this. DD is only 3. I've thus far just pieced things together. Workbooks, flashcards, games, etc. TIA
