Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I got a letter In the mail today that one of the 2 pools at sports will be closed for refurb during our stay. Ugh.

I mean, we only swam once let trip, and maybe it will be to cool to swim anyway in early December. But still!
We got the same letter. At least there is another pool to swim. Have you been here before? I was hoping the pool that is open is the better one.

We've never used a car seat. Either my kids are especially well behaved, or they simply viewed it as the same as being in a car - you stay buckled. They also fell asleep since they were evening flights. A stroller was enough - didn't want to mess with car seats too.

Never been, but from google searching it looks like the surfs up is the better pool anyway. It's certainly bigger.

And I believe you can use any pool at the all stars, so it's ok to walk to music or movies to use theirs as well.

Oh good! I'm hoping this is what we can do too!

Have you looked at Art Smith's Homecoming menu? Looks so yummy. I really want to go, but don't know how to fit it in :(

Quality isn't great but anyone else have a countdown going? Have one hung at work and home!! I was trying to not wish summer away but I'm ready for some Disney in my life...123 days to go....I'm trying to find cute new Disney shirts for our trip to keep me busy in the meantime :)

IF we stay at Pop Century for 2 nights before we check in at AoA for our package, we'll need to stop by the front desk at Pop to check out. Would you hand your bags over to bell services to move them to AoA for you or would you walk them across the bridge yourself (they'll all have wheels) and hopefully straight to your room (assuming it's ready early)? Just trying to decide what to do. Last time we did a split stay everything got messed up, but I think it's because I didn't know we needed to physically go to the front desk and "check out" of our first hotel before trying to move to the second. :confused3

Cute! It won't let me post my picture, but I just printed a countdown sheet from Pinterest and put it in a picture frame. My son changes the number every day with a dry erase marker. I'm looking for shirts too, but haven't found anything I like yet. Specifically looking for Lion King and Pirates shirts for the boys.

I should put up a countdown calendar now that I feel more certain this is all going to work out. Last time we had a very plain one. 125 days until we check in at AoA! I guess I'd better get crackin'!

I have only a mental countdown because we are surprising the kids. It's torture!!!

And @Iowamomof4 if you're planning on going to a park I'd let bell services worry about the bags if there are a lot. If it's a down day I'd walk them over myself and check them with bell sevices if your room isn't ready. Maybe you can call over to AoA first and see if the room is ready?

I would probably walk them over to AoA, even if you have to leave them with Bell Services there - assuming you don't have do much stuff that it is unmanageable. Then you know where they are if you need anything.

True! Who knows where they might end up traveling on the way from Pop to AoA if bell services is in charge? lol Not that they don't do a fine job, I'm sure they do, but maybe it's better to be safe than sorry. Wouldn't want our bags to end up at one of the All Stars resorts or something. It's so close, can't take that long to walk them over I'd think. Plus we can go through the process of checking in at AoA to make sure we're all set for the day before heading out to a park.

Sad news - my grandpa passed away today. I haven't seen him in probably 20 years so it isnt a huge tragedy (some family estrangement BS years ago) but I have such good memories of us all at WDW as a kid. He retired from GM and somehow got lifetime passes as part of his retirement package.

My fondest memory was using the fancy lounge at Epcot where Body Wars was. We got to sit and have unlimited fountain soda while waiting to ride, or could skip the line even. It was awesome and I loved that ride!

In good news - if you know any GM employees or retirees it appears you can get 12% off Disney tickets if they purchase them through the employer.

Oh, I'm sorry about your grandpa and even sorrier family disputes made having a relationship difficult.

Sorry for your loss. Glad you have good memories! I know all about family BS . . . .

Good to know about GM. My cousin works for them. Won't help us this trip, but maybe in the future!

Sorry about losing your grandpa. Glad he gave you some cherished memories. I remember doing the GM lounge with the free drinks when I went as a kid and feeling so cool :smooth:

My TA suggested we consider going to MVMCP on Sunday night since we'll be there and don't plan to do a park that day. I had thought it would be really crowded and sold out for sure but she said perhaps not. She pointed out that most people who are there for Thanksgiving are there because that's the only time they can get off work or school. These are people who want to be home Saturday or Sunday because they have to go back to work/school first thing Monday morning. Hmm... she does have a point. The price is the same Sunday or Tuesday. Those of you here who are attending a party that week, which night are you going or thinking of going?
