DVC Member Cruise ~ August 24, 2015

I really am not stalking you but very frustrated with trying to join a FE group that really should be very easy. We really want to do this if there is still openings in that last group. Please let me know as soon as you can, so I know you got this post.

I keep checking and still no shirts posted. What are they waiting on??? Are they not doing shirts now too? Sorry I am not in a good mood - very hot here and I am mad about my plate (I will get over it tomorrow). David asked me if I could get it signed in the Parks. How the heck would I know? Maybe they stopped that too? I told him to take the pens and autograph it himself. Go to the garage and go crazy - there is a bag of candy in it for you (some pieces may be missing - Not sure who are them??) :confused3

Still debating on the photos - should I get them or not? I am thinking about getting them. Do you think it would be worth while? Will there be a lot of chances to get pics taken? Do they have a lot of characters on DVC cruises? Should I bring my autograph book? I do have one! (seriously I do have one ) - that way I could get OFFICIAL signatures! I got one when I had an in-room birthday celebration years ago. I have several autographs. I just don't want to get the photo CD if I don't get a lot of pics. Would love to hear what you all think.

Lynn, I'm starting to feel the same way you are...we blew a LOT of points for this cruise and will probably never do another member's cruise because we would rather take the grandkids along and a member's cruise is just too many points. Maybe my expectations were too high but so far -there is nothing about ordering shirts, nothing about next years member's cruise - many people already had this one booked long before now a year ago, and Ginny Carr got a rude castmember from DCL when she called to let them know the info for people who wanted to sit together for late dining....I worked for 7 years at the Disney Store in Crestwood and the WORST thing you could do was give a guest bad service ! I'm wondering if they threw everything into the Alaska member's cruise and ours is just an afterthought. And WHY would you end the special signings right before the member's cruise - shouldn't we get a little special treatment. We have never done the picture packages because I generally don't like the way the pictures are done on the cruises - I love Photo Pass in the parks and can't understand why they don't use that on the ships. I HATE that every cruise they print up a ton of pictures that are then destroyed - what an environmental waste ! A 4 day cruise is not a lot of time to get a lot of pictures - there always seemed to be long lines and I want to do whatever special things they have on the member's cruise. Also there may be longer than usual character lines for people wanting to get signatures.
I'm sure we will all have a fantastic time - mainly because of the fun people that are in this group and on facebook - but I was just hoping for more... Debbie

There are lots of characters, but I do not know if there will be the Anna and Elsa meet that you have to get tix for. Check the navigator that you get at embarkation. I do not have the patience to wait in line for autographs or pictures with characters , but I do tend to go to movies on cruises. Others may think that's wasting time.

I think the only reason we booked this MC so early is because the Alaska cruise was in May. In other years, the booking for the late summer, early fall MC was after that year's DVC MC. I know that the '06 cruise dates were announced on the '05 cruise.

Our documents have not come to us yet. DCL mailed them to Ohio 20 days ago, I would have thought they would have been forwarded by this time. It would cost $50 for me to have them mailed, or I just get the generic luggage tags that the workers at the dock would have. Definitely not worth $50 to me, so I will wait and hope for the best!

I hope the autograph policy gets reversed!

Just checking in (been working way to many hours some days; 16+ Monday and they had the nerve to ask me to stay longer, ugh NO!!!!). I have been stalking the site also about shirts. I have a friend making us ones, and I know others are doing their own thing. Frustrating that Disney hasn't done something yet. And as for the autographs, I'm bummed too, as that was one our 'momentos'. Seemed to have gotten out of hand from what I am reading.

i haven't order the photo cd yet either. I actually forgot about it until I saw your post. I need to get my butt in gear, finish up my FE gifts. I did print our stateroom door magnets so one thing is done on the list.

:crazy:That's what I would look like Pat if I was on your schedule! This cruise cannot come soon enough!

I looked at last year's Personal Navigator from embarkation day, and YES, there were tickets distributed for a special Princess Gathering Meet and Greet! So, if you are going to want pictures with all of the characters, be sure you sign up for the meet and greet. If they have one for Anna and Elsa, I'm going to get a ticket!

Bobbi princess:

PS. I was on the January Member Cruise that was 3 nights and we had many of the same activities that the 4 night MC had the previous August. We didn't get everything that the 4 night cruisers got. It was fun, but went so fast. I really hope DVC could see themselves offering a 7 night MC during this time frame.

I decided to check to find out about the tee shirts and they said there will be no preorders but they will have them available on the ship.

Thanks for posting this!

On the cruise forum it's said that Anna & Elsa meets came to the Dream after the MC last year, so I'm thinking there will be one this year.

Thanks for checking - I was going to call and didn't get the chance. So glad you called.

Bobbi
Thanks for checking on the Characters - this will help me make up my mind on the photo CD - I think I might get one as I do want to get pics with characters. I have not gotten Anna & Elsa yet - so would like to try and get them! Can't get anywhere near them in the Parks. Doubt I will get close to them on the Norway cruise so I am going for it on this one! I will have to dig out my autograph book and bring that to get their autograph too!

Pat
You have to be worn out! You know what you need? A nice cruise! You are so ready! Way too many hours! I sure hope you get a break soon! They are going to wear you out!

You worked at the Disney Store in Crestwood? OMG this is a small world! I LOVED that store and was in there ALL the time! I am sure we have met! I shopped that store weekly! I sure miss that mall. I hated when they closed it - such a waste. I just don't think Disney is the same as it use to be - Just my opinion - but I think when Michael Eisner ran things it was handled better. It seems more money hungry now - but Disney has changed a lot - it is not a clean as it use to be and the Cast Members (not all) are not as friendly as they use to be - they also have a lot less Cast members than they use to - cost cutting everywhere - people have also changed - it is not just Disney - people expect something for nothing - or they expect a lot for very little - everything has to be perfect and magical and all about them - things that are out of Disney's control and they expect Disney to control it. But on the other hand - Disney keeps raising the prices - which makes people expect more because they are paying so much - it is a huge circle.
I just don't like bad or rude customer service from someone I am giving my money to. If I receive it - it makes me not want to do business with them. Compared to other Theme Parks - I will still pick Disney hands down any day of the week - they are still much better than the rest - and believe it or not - Most of their counter food prices are cheaper than most ballparks and other theme parks / Concerts or NHRA! Shocking! Some places I have gone make Disney look cheap!:eek:

We will definitely need to get together and chat! We lived in Fenton for over 30 years and I taught in Rockwood for 12 years. I was with the opening crew that opened the store in Crestwood = so glad they put one there because I could never stand to drive downtown to Union Station ! We had the best castmembers - many of us are still good friends and several of my managers work at WDW now.
Can't wait for this cruise - it is going to be so much fun ! Debbie

Does anyone know the themes for each night? Almost time to get started packing!
Has anyone heard what movies will be playing on the ship?

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but this has me excited..... Maybe the shirt would give us a hint of some of the special events on this cruise ! Really can't wait for the cruise !

I have looked at last years navigators for ideas but that doesn't mean it will be the same.

good to hear this also.

The only night I know is that pirates night is one the first cast away night. Do any of you dress up?

Character Signatures Onboard

Following comunication email from Guest Relations at Disney Cruise Line outlines character signature items from one of our members:

7/31/15
Dear XXXXX,
Thank you for choosing another Disney Cruise Line vacation!
I would be happy to assist you.
Although this was something that Disney Cruise Line did not promote, we
are no longer able to provide this service.
As I am sure you know, part of the fun in collecting Disney Character
signatures is the interaction with our World Famous Characters.
Therefore, as we continually review our offerings we have decided to
discontinue the practice of assuming responsibility for personal items
and are no longer accepting items for signatures from our Characters at
our Guest Services location.
However, we have added additional Character meet & greet opportunities,
so that Guests may meet our Characters in person and obtain their
signatures. Please stop by Guest Services or check your Personal
Navigator for the schedules and information on the various autograph
opportunities that will be taking place during your voyage.

As always, Character interactions are subject to change without notice.
For a list of items that can or cannot be signed, please note below
(subject to change):
Able to sign:

*Any autograph book

*Disney branded items that are appropriate to that character. For

example, Cinderella would not be able to sign a Buzz Lightyear item.

*Disney stationery

*Disney approved photos - only characters in photo can sign the photo

*Disney notecards

*Disney Dollars - once signed would become souvenirs (no longer legal

tender)

*Clothing - must not be worn when signed

**Not able to sign:

*Flags of any nations

*Receipts / banking slips

*Money

*Skin

*Non-Disney merchandise

*Non-family friendly / obscene items
