Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Best way to get from DHS to DTD? (no taxi)

I was thinking bus to SSR, then walk to DTD, but we have two littles and weren't planning on taking a stroller that day. How long is the walk? Would catching a bus be better? How much total time should I allow? We have a 12:30 lunch @ T-rex
Bus to SSR, OKW, POR, or POFQ - then boat to Downtown Disney
Bus to any park then bus to DtD
Boat to Swan, Dolphin, BC, YC, BW - then bus to DtD
Allow at least 90 minutes, if not more

If MK is open past when you expect to be done eating:
A. Launch from MK to GF/Polynesian, launch from Polynesian to MK, bus to CBR
B. Monorail from MK to Polynesian, monorail to MK, bus to CBR
C. Ferry to TTC, stroll to Kona, stroll to TTC, ferry to MK, bus to CBR
D. Any combination of the above
If MK closes at 'normal' time and no party:
To Kona: any of the options above
To CBR:
A. Bus to any open park, bus to CBR
B. Bus to Downtown Disney, bus to CBR
C. Taxi
W. If done by 9, monorail to Contemporary, launch to Fort Wilderness, sneak (which is why it's W, and not D ;)) on the Hoop De Doo return bus to CBR

Sorry if this has been asked a bunch-I've never stayed at a MK resort before so bare with me-

The monorail will be operating on a limited schedule when we are there in two weeks accoring to kenny the pirate http://www.kennythepirate.com/2015/04/29/walt-disney-world-monorail-schedule-changes-coming-soon/

So how do I..... (looking for fastest way)

Get to Epcot by rope drop when staying at BLT if monorail doesnt start till 9am? Bus?

Get to Poly from BLT at 8:30am on a Tuesday? Resort Loop Monorail?

Get to Grand Floridian from MK on a Tuesday at 5:30pm?

Get to MK from Poly on a Wednesday for a 8am ADR? (could we walk to TTC and catch a bus to MK this early since monorail wont be running?)

Get to Poly from MK around lunchtime on a Wednesday?

If the monorail isn't runners by at a specific time there will be buses. The chart on Kenny the Pirate's page indicates the monorail will be running during many of the times you indicate.

Unfortunately, Disney has only said boats & buses will take up the slack, but has not released specific details.

Based on similar past events, when the Resort Monorail isn't running, there will be buses between the monorail resorts, and buses from the monorail resorts to the MK. It may or may not be the same bus.

When the Epcot monorail has been scheduled not to run, there have in the past been buses from the monorail resorts directly to Epcot. But sometimes there is just a bus between TTC & Epcot. Since this downtime is scheduled way in advance, I would expect direct buses, but you never know until it happens.

For your lunch & dinner ADR's, there is a boat that runs from the MK to GF & Poly. (Note that this boat normally cannot accommodate ECV's or unfolded wheelchairs.) The boat normally starts 30 minutes before MK opening; Disney might start it earlier on days that the Resort Monorail is opening late (or they might not.)

We are staying off-site this time around and looking to make it to DHS by 7:30ish during SWW, but also want to park hop to Epcot later that evening and possibly MK. Where is the best place to park our car for the day or would it be easier to move it from park to park? My original idea was that we could park at the T&TC and take the Disney buses the entire day, but I'm not sure when the buses start running from T&TC.

Thanks!

Did you know you don't have to post in a thread to follow it? In the bar right below the thread title, on the far right, you can click "watch thread".

I would park at Studios. Then you can get there as early as you want without worrying about buses.

Studios will probably be open later than Epcot during SWW, so if you finish at Epcot, you'll have the choice of the bus from the front of the park or the boat from the IG at World Showcase.

If you finish at MK, buses will be available back to Studios as long as buses are running from MK, even if Studios closed earlier.

What time do buses usually stop running at Epcot? This is for 10/26. Park hours for Epcot is 9am-9pm.
Also, is it possible to walk from Beach Club to the Epcot bus stop without entering the actual park?

We're spending the day at HS with 7:30 Fantasmic showtime. Planning on walking to the Boardwalk Bakery for a snack afterwards, and then heading to Beaches & Cream for ice cream. Was hoping to get to the Epcot bus stop around 10:15pm and catch a bus back to AKV where we're staying. Would that be a feasible plan? Do buses still run that late? Thanks!

The buses, basically, run until everyone is out of the park. That is at least an hour after park closing, usually longer. But...you will have to enter the park to get to the bus stops. At 10:15, you will probably be denied park entrance. Once the park is closed, at 9, it's hard to get back in. I wouldn't take that chance, just to get some ice cream. There is no way to get to the park entrance/bus stops from BC..other than to enter the park. Sorry.

Thanks for the response! Do buses continue running TO parks until park close? If so we could try BC to MK to AKV, or just BC to DTD to AKV. Any idea which would be faster? Thanks for the help!

If you can find a park that's still open, then yes, that's the best way to go. If not, you'll have to go to DTD and then transfer to an AKV bus...or just take a cab. It shouldn't be too expensive....much faster than heading to DTD!!!

We are currently planning a trip at Christmas for our party of 10 and are considering a late Christmas brunch at 1900 Park Fare around 10 or 11. The one concern is how to best get to the Grand Floridian from POP on a busy Christmas morning. Usually, I would think going by bus to MK and then to the GF by boat or monorail, but we are concerned about getting to MK by bus that morning considering that closures are likely. Would a better option be to take the bus to AK and then catch a bus to the GF? Or should we just avoid the MK resort area and simplify our plans for that morning?

Someone staying on property would be able to get into a park until the fourth stage of closing, which is when no one gets in. I would think that if you get a 10:00 ADR, that it would be too early for fourth stage closure at the time you would need to waiting for the bus.

Hi, just want to run this by the experts here. We are staying at the WL and have our own car, so we will be driving to several resorts for dinner.

We are only visiting MK on this Tuesday and Wednesday. We don't have to be there super early. Our first FP slot is after 9am. Are these options correct and which one would you recommend? We will be returning late afternoon to WL to shower and dress for dinner.

1. "Blue flag" boat from WL to CR, then walk to MK
2. "Red flag" boat from WL to MK
3. Bus from WL to MK

Driving to MK parking lot, then taking the ferry over to MK probably wouldn't be a great idea, right?

Thanks in advance!
