Official Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Thread

For any AP or DVC people holding out on early registration for the half marathon, this morning is showing 92% sold out. So may want to get in now or set aside an hour or so for general registration April 7th.

But I don't need a park ticket. I already have a 2 day park hopper.

Drat.

I wouldn't pay THAT much more to avoid the madness. At least I don't think so.

I feel like I read someone say that they were put into the queue then opened a new browser to start again and got through. So they basically just ignored the queue.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I want to pay that much either to avoid the madness.

I'll keep the browser tip in mind. Thanks! Much appreciated.

I'd like to know people's opinions about which DL hotels are best for the races. I want to use DVC points at the Grand Californian but it doesn't look like it will be possible. I can use my points at the three other hotels for a standard hotel room. Curious what people think of the different options for getting to/from the races. I know they are all much closer than WDW, just curious if people have preferences among them. Or, is picking the cheapest, PPH a good choice?

I've stayed at both the DL Hotel and Paradise Pier, and found their distance to be pretty much the same, post-race, only about a block difference. We didn't even use the pool at the DL Hotel, so I have yet to experience these monorail slides. Next time! We actually had a way better view at the PPH, but that was just luck, I suppose. The pool there is also quite nice.

Well, I am apparently planning to head back to do this one again this year. I'm quite surprised, but we had a ball last time, and it's definitely good motivation for getting fit.

Means we're starting to look at getting a hotel bookings and it looks like Paradise Pier normal rooms are sold out, so we were looking at Park View rooms.

At that point it's not actually all that much more to upgrade to the Club level room. Does anyone have any experience with this on a race weekend? Do they put food out early for racers? We had incredible trouble last time finding a pre-race breakfast (since I'm coming from overseas, most of my usual foods are less than easy to find).

Particularly given that I plan to sign up for the challenge this year if I can. Has anyone done Club level for race weekends?

Thanks

First, a quick reminder that general registration opens tomorrow at NOON EDT/9:00 AM PDT.

Second, runDisney is finally communicating some information themselves around the registration process! Seems in the past it's been left to regular participants to let new runners in on things, so nice to see them being a little more proactive...

I'm glad they posted SOMETHING - though honestly that "waiting queue" was a bunch of bunk. Some people were able to get in for Wine & Dine and register twice for themselves and their S/O in the time it took to get through the queue. It's not a perfect system at all. I will be definitely trying the direct links tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone trying to register tomorrow! It will be fun to see how quickly things sell out!

I'm guessing the Challenge will sell out in 30 mins, 10K in 45 minutes and the 5K within an hour.
The Half may take a day or two to sell out. And my guess is the Pasta Party will fill up more then 65% in the first day.

I love the predictions of how fast races sell out, and seeing how close people come to guessing correct! :)
I'm not planning on registering this year (I ran the half last year) but I'm still excited for registration!

Looking back at last year, the Half sold out in under 2 hours. With some slots going to the Challenge this year, I'll be surprised if the Half makes it to 5:00 EDT. I'll probably check in around 1:00 to see how it's shaping up!

Link doesn't go to waiver page anymore. Says registration page cannot be found. Will it go live later or has the link changed?

That is exactly how it looked right before Wine and Dine. Start refreshing about 10 minutes before noon. It became active about five minutes before noon. I was able to register me and DD for the 5K and me for the Half by 12:02.

Shout out to Keels, she's awesome getting these links for us!! :worship:

I'm not registering, but good luck everyone!! :cheer2:

I really wasn't planning on running the Avengers 1/2 this year, but the addition of the Captain America 10K and the Infinity Gauntlet challenge is sucking me back in. Fingers crossed I get in!

The registration button is down so many people must be freaking out right now.

Just got in through run disney links almost 15 min early.
