I really liked tje World record Christmas movie. Since I really like both the actress and actor (especially since he played the CFO for gobble with Rachel Leigh Cook), I enjoyed that it deviated from Hallmark's standard format.

I watched this last night. I really liked it. I also liked how it's not the usual "Boy meets Girl again after many years, sparks fly again," old story line. I'm not really a fan of Nikki DeLoach. She often comes across as too earnest. But, it actually worked for this movie considering the son has Autism. I really like Lucas Bryant. I thought his role was going to be more on the side with Nikki taking over being so earnest. But, Lucas' role was very substantial and pivotal in key ways. He's also major eye candy for me. 😍 Always a plus in a movie. :teeth:

I'm having a hard time with this lighthouse one. It's hard since the main actress has played a "not so nice" person in other movies. (The girlfriend in Nine Lives of Christmas and the assistant that wanted the son in the Marilou Henner movie June to January or something like that).

Haven't seen it yet. But, I know what you mean. An actress that we usually think of as always being the best friend or villain on Hallmark, yet is cast as the romantic female lead in a Lifetime movie kind of throws me a little, at first, when I start watching them. But, Hallmark & Lifetime's styles are rather different, with Hallmark looking more polished and glittery with everything in it's perfect place, versus Lifetime's more toned down, real life, (usually less budget) movies, it's easier to make the change, that of course, the actresses are doing different kinds of roles, different networks.

(Although, sometimes I can't. There are a couple actresses that always play the best friend, and I just couldn't make the jump. IMO, they just didn't have that extra charisma and presence to want to watch for 2 hours as the lead.)

When Hallmark does it with it's own actresses that they have established as usually the Best Friend or usually the Villain role, it's harder to make that switch, as we are still watching the same "Hallmark World" and that's supposed to be the Villain. :upsidedow

Chelsea Hobbs, the actress in this case, played Jonathan Bennett's nice sister in last season's The Christmas Sitter on Hallmark. So, I think they thought they could jump from there to making her the nice Leading Lady. :teleport:

A SEASON FOR FAMILY

I really liked this one. One thing I've noticed regarding the movies (at least most of the Hallmark ones) for this year - they seem to actually be developing the characters better than in the past. It may have to do with the limited movies that were produced (for whatever reason) this year. Maybe they finally were listening to those of use who were getting REALLY tired of the "Hallmark formula" of boy/girl meets new/old boyfriend/girlfriend. Misunderstanding occurs and they break up, and then realize they belong together.

Edit: I spoke too soon. I'm currently watching Navigating Christmas and I'm not getting the cohesive feel in this one. Mom is so scatterbrained, lighthouse owner is too stiff, and kid fluctuates between troubled teen and happy boy.

Hallmark Channel:
Joyeux Noel

Starring: Jaicy Elliot and Brant Daugherty.
Description: When a romantic painting of a Christmas market captures the imagination of copy editor Lea, she is sent to France with pragmatic reporter Mark to uncover the mystery behind the artist.

I watched Joyeux Noel. I give it a flat NO. There is a mystery in this that kept me going. But, the male lead was rude and nasty. As much as I love watching male eye candy, without Brant Daughterty's good looks, the male character would just be a nasty jerk. He literally did his first redeeming moment halfway through the movie. I clocked it.

So, if you decide to watch for the mystery, fast-forward to about the halfway mark. Then as other clues don't pan out, you can skip another 40% of the rest of the movie.

There is no chemistry between the leads. When the female lead finally has an epiphany that she loves the guy, I wondered when exactly did she fall in love with him and WHY? Because I didn't see it happening. 🤷‍♀️ So, he's nice five times in the movie. It's so not enough. And the end of the mystery was kind of deflating.

Great American Family (GAF):
A Paris Christmas Waltz
Re-airs:
Fri 11/24 at 4am ET
Fri 11/24 at 6pm ET
Sat 11/26 at 2pm
Starring: Matthew Morrison (of Glee) and Jen Lilley.
Description: Emma relinquishes her job so a colleague with a family will keep his. Contemplating life’s next steps, Emma meets a professional dancer, Leo whose love for competitive dancing is waning, until a once in a lifetime opportunity arises for the novice to join the pro and sweep all of Paris off its feet.

I watched A Paris Christmas Waltz. I liked it well enough. I may watch it again. The acting was good. It was nice to see Matthew Morrison. Yet, the story is so implausible. The leads spent more time not dancing than rehearsing. Then when they danced their big dance together, the style dancing wasn't a waltz (like the title,) or even traditional ballroom. They were good, and I liked the dance. But it wasn't what I was expecting so it really threw me.

I agree. Just watched earlier this week and this was harder to get into because Jen Lilley’s character seemed like an idiot. The whole dance rehearsal system didn’t make much sense, and where was the waltz?! But all that said, good acting and and I would watch again.

Watched My Christmas Guide (Hallmark) 8/10 What a delightful movie! Both my husband and I enjoyed it. I thought it took on the topic in a realistic but sensitive way. I would rewatch this one for sure!

Checkin' It Twice (Hallmark) 7/10 overlooking some plot points related to the hockey team it was a cute and I liked the community-oriented aspect to what the team does for their area.

I'm going to recommend skipping Country Hearts Christmas (UP) 6/10
1) You need to see Country Hearts 5/10 first which I did but it was not very good.
2) It's just not good either. It's better than Country Hearts but only a wee bit.
3) It does seem to be setting up for a 3rd movie. One of the reviews I read said it would have been better as a tv series and I agree. They chose to leave cliffhangers and a lot of unanswered questions.

A Christmas Blessing (GAF) 7/10 but my husband and I felt the movie wasn't quite as good as it could have been and he would have rated it lower than me. Reading the synopsis you would think she was jet setting away to travel the world which is what made us start watching it and I hope I'm not spoiling it but she does not do that. I just wouldn't want someone to make that misunderstanding that we did.

Me too.

I watched "A Merry Scottish Christmas" this afternoon, and really enjoyed it, but my recording cut off before the credits.
Anybody who already watched:
what happened after they brought the baby in during the "one year later" scene at the end? I heard her name, but that was it.
