A World Record Christmas
Re-airs: Sat 11/18 at 10pm ET
Sun 119 at 6pm ET
Sat11/25 at 4pm ET
Wed 11/29 at 10pm ET
Starring: Nikki DeLoach, Lucas Bryant and Aias Dalman.
Description: This is based on a true story. Charlie (Dalman) is an autistic boy determined to set a Guinness World Record by stacking 1400 Jenga blocks. His mother Marissa (DeLoach) and stepfather Eric (Bryant) encourage him to reach for his dream and they all celebrate when he gets the good news that he’ll have get his chance on Christmas Eve. In the spirit of the holiday, they organize a fundraiser giving the townspeople an opportunity to donate and decorate a Jenga block, with the proceeds going to benefit kids with autism. Charlie’s journey to setting the Jenga world record gives them all the chance to learn more not just about themselves, but about what family really means.
I really liked tje World record Christmas movie. Since I really like both the actress and actor (especially since he played the CFO for gobble with Rachel Leigh Cook), I enjoyed that it deviated from Hallmark's standard format.
I watched this last night. I really liked it. I also liked how it's not the usual "Boy meets Girl again after many years, sparks fly again," old story line. I'm not really a fan of Nikki DeLoach. She often comes across as too earnest. But, it actually worked for this movie considering the son has Autism. I really like Lucas Bryant. I thought his role was going to be more on the side with Nikki taking over being so earnest. But, Lucas' role was very substantial and pivotal in key ways. He's also major eye candy for me. Always a plus in a movie.
I'm having a hard time with this lighthouse one. It's hard since the main actress has played a "not so nice" person in other movies. (The girlfriend in Nine Lives of Christmas and the assistant that wanted the son in the Marilou Henner movie June to January or something like that).
Haven't seen it yet. But, I know what you mean. An actress that we usually think of as always being the best friend or villain on Hallmark, yet is cast as the romantic female lead in a Lifetime movie kind of throws me a little, at first, when I start watching them. But, Hallmark & Lifetime's styles are rather different, with Hallmark looking more polished and glittery with everything in it's perfect place, versus Lifetime's more toned down, real life, (usually less budget) movies, it's easier to make the change, that of course, the actresses are doing different kinds of roles, different networks.
(Although, sometimes I can't. There are a couple actresses that always play the best friend, and I just couldn't make the jump. IMO, they just didn't have that extra charisma and presence to want to watch for 2 hours as the lead.)
When Hallmark does it with it's own actresses that they have established as usually the Best Friend or usually the Villain role, it's harder to make that switch, as we are still watching the same "Hallmark World" and that's supposed to be the Villain.
Chelsea Hobbs, the actress in this case, played Jonathan Bennett's nice sister in last season's The Christmas Sitter on Hallmark. So, I think they thought they could jump from there to making her the nice Leading Lady.
