Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

No need to worry - we love this resort, along with many others on this thread! It is beautiful and always seems quiet when you walk around. Great themed pool with the pyramid centerpiece, a very fast slide that my kids enjoy, activities in the afternoon, smore making some nights, and pool bar with food. There is a gym if you are want to work out and a spa if you want to splurge on a massage. We think the beds are very comfortable and queen sized, and doors to close off bathroom area are nice for early risers or privacy. Check out all the hidden Mickey's in the decor! There are hammocks around the lake and lovely landscaping if you want to stop and smell the roses when not in the parks!

Check out the first few pages of this thread for great pics of everything that will hopefully put your mind at ease, and get you familiar with the layout. There is a map as well - if you haven't requested a room, I recommend the Cabanas 8A and 8B for standard room - close to pool and bus stop, and a short walk to front to refill mugs. Casitas area is where the preferred rooms are if you booked those. Ranchos area is furthest back, so you may not want those. There are 4 bus stops, so each area will have one. It is not as spread out as some reviews lead you to believe, and nothing will be a really far walk unless you are in back of Ranchos, so just request something closer, and if given an area you don't want when you check in, nicely remind them of your request, and see if something is available - they have always been very accommodating with us. Everyone is different, and I don't know what you are used to, but for us it is our favorite for the price(love AKL, but it is pricey!) If you have any specific questions, let us know!
Thank you so much for your response!!!

I need someone to talk me off the ledge. We did not plan on staying at Coronado but circumstances has placed us at this hotel. I have read the absolute worst reviews about this resort. When we booked this trip the travel agent pointed out to my family that we could go to Europe for the same price. My husband fought me on this and now I am afraid that I will be spending a ton of money and my kids and husband are going to be everything from underwhelmed to totally grossed out by this resort. Please someone tell me that this hotel is awesome. I am going in 3 weeks. HELP!

I will admit to feeling underwhelmed after spending two weeks there in August, but that's just me. I think it was the theming and the fact that it was so quiet around the main building. For lots of people, that's perfect for them.

But my room was clean and in good shape. No bad smells or mold in our bathroom. Maid service was awesome! and the food at the food court was very good. All of the staff were very helpful. It still felt like Disney to me. I would definitely consider staying here again one day.

Excellent!

We were in Ranchos back in August. No mildew, no mold, and nothing to complain about in the room, or out of it. The walk to the main building was long, but the grounds are quite nice. We saw lots of snails, frogs, bunnies and maybe one Palmetto bug ( looks like a cockroach, but they are all over Florida). They were all outdoors except for an adorable little green tree frog that hopped in one night when the door was open.

If you do have a room with a problem, walk down to the front desk and let them know. Calling from the room doesn't mean you're actually talking to someone at the front desk.

Let me clarify - I am so excited about this trip. We could afford a moderate but this was the only one with availability. By gross - I have read reviews on Trip Advisor about roaches in a coffee machine, smells of mildew and terrible mold in the bathrooms. They have said that the staff is not very "Disney" in their treatment of guests and that the maid service is sub par. I want the entire Disney experience for my kids which is why I have not looked into other hotels in the area. It is just scary when you work hard and know that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for your kids and then you read these horrible reviews. I have not been there so I am hoping to hear from people who have been and loved it!

The bathrooms could use a major refresh and that is happening soon. But I wouldn't call it gross. Just outdated.

Believe me, I work just as hard as the next person to save for my Disney trips and totally understand. I have my 5th consecutive stay at CSR in the spring. I wouldn't book anything gross for the $$$. If I could afford the Poly, I would be there, but I go at peak and this is the next best thing.

The grounds are beautiful, esp at night. I've had all really positive interactions with the CM's. From desk, mousekeeping, lounge, pool and grounds keepers. All very friendly. Rarely, do I see negative reviews of CSR.

Relax, don't think about it. Enjoy your well deserved vacation. If you do encounter something that doesn't please you, go to the front desk in person and let them know.

Guys. I Really love this resort. I do think the rooms are too small for our whole family, which makes me sad. Why does this resort sometimes get placed as least favourite mod?!?? I'm laying here in a hammock, surrounded by palm trees and nature sounds. Gorgeous stars. Just now the animal kingdom night show started and I can hear it (wow does it sound incredible!!!). Such a peaceful resort. Cast members are fantastic. Food options are great (didn't think CBR was too Great). SAD to be leaving. What an incredible stay.

I've tipped them at the end of our trip. Kinda like a cruise. They say no but in the end they accept. Just don't make a big scene

love this response! Thank you!

SO ...... we are considering a short stay at Coronado ( split with CBR probably) . Never stayed, but visited many times and used the awesome pools (We are DVC Members) .We have always loved Coronado , but since we are DVC members it has been hard to break way from the deluxe resorts . (truth be told , I think we prefer the moderates anyway, lol )
Anyway, our stay would be end of Feb / beginning of March . What impact would the refurb have on that time frame if anyone knows ? We can deal with a few buildings being closed at a time for refurbs , but any pool closures , El Centro, Pepper Market or common area closures may be a deal breaker.
I have heard about a hard goods refurb for the rooms, but nothing else so far about any part of the resort .
Should we be concerned about other refurb closures besides the hard goods room refurbs ?

Also, this will be a couples only trip (kids are grown) and was wondering how the King rooms are ?

Thanks !

Really looking forward to staying at Coronado , and its perfect timing as we are trying to conserve some of our DVC points for the larger family trips !

Does anyone know why business class rooms are not available for booking in June 2017? I keep checking MDE and there are no specials yet, and business class is unavailable. We'll be at CSR business class on 12/16 and I'd hoped to book for June 2017 -- just before our APs expire. Thanks for any insight you might be able to share!

I thought I read somewhere that they are discontinuing Business Class rooms.

What is the difference between business class and the other class ?
You get access to the lounge for breakfast from 7-10am and in the evening for drinks and snacks from 5-10pm.

Breakfast (7-10am): Cold cereals, bagels, fresh fruits (apples (green and red), bananas, and oranges), and either donuts, muffins, cinnamon rolls, or danish (they alternate those). The coffee machine makes espresso and lattes; they have regular and decaf coffee, a nice selection of teas, milk and juice.

Evening Service (5-10pm): Soft drinks, Perrier, beer (Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Bud Light/Yuengling/Corona), wine (white/red), and sangria. Crackers, cheeses, veggies, hummus, salsa, and grilled leek dip. Traditional Italian antipasto meats, olives, grilled veggies & bread (removed PROMPTLY at 7 PM) and replaced with tortilla chips, potato chips and veggie chips and fresh baked cookies (chocolate chip, sugar and oatmeal).

Rumor has it it is ending at the end of the year.

Ok thanks for the info!
Now I know

Beer and wine make the difference for us.

Evening Service (5-10pm): Soft drinks, water, beer (Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Bud Light/Yuengling/Corona), wine (white/red), and sangria. Did they bring back the chocolcate covered pretzels? or are they regular?

We've also had mickey head rice krispie pops two times :)
