Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Finished my second trip this year (waiting for a delayed flight at MCO now) after the original announced start date and still no signs of light. The theatre looks nice from what I could see while walking around AK.

I did get to see some of AK at night, including a Tree of Life Awakening so that was cool.

Now I'll cross my fingers I can see more than Rumors in January...

Apparently I can start making dining reservations for my sister trip tomorrow. I thought I had until Thursday so I should probably get my act together - d'oh!

Alas, it would appear that there still won't be a dining package to book for ROL. I've seen May 1st for a date - I get why they'd wait but it's a little irony that I'll still probably miss it a year to the date of my last trip! Hopefully the show itself will be up and running - looking forward to hearing reviews!:flower1:

HOPING I AM WRONG and it's just indigestion - but my gut is not feeling like ROL is happening anytime soon. I'm not even sure it's any one thing but lots of little things. Add that no major "source" seems to have any inkling of an opening with their supposed inside sources. Crickets. Of course it's all like fuzzy math, I could look at lots of things as suspicious ............ and create a good story. :magnify:

From the sudden Jingle BAM, which can't replace Osborne, and is virtually unnecessary since Star Wars has plenty of fans ....... seems to be pulling attention from the other night time entertainment. Add that Jingle BAM is on the current calendars, very current and yet AK still shows minimal night hours. Yes they can change last minute but Jingle is very last minute - the point of these is to encourage new bookings and I don't think it will do anything so why? - distraction?

Lots of other things would make a spring debut with Avartarland make more sense ................ and I hope it's just my suspicious nature ........ and hope I am wrong. BUT Disney has it's hands full of lots of issues (MK night time parade....), do they really need to open this to possible "meh" like Jungle Book. :confused3 Maybe next spring is a fresh start.

overthinker overload....:crazy2:

See let me ramble and maybe it worked the ROL good voodoo ............ or maybe just more RUMORING!

There's a rumour circulating that Destination D visitors will get to see the first showing of Rivers of Light on the Sunday. It fits in with the rest of the programme.

Let's hope it's the beginning of nighttime fun at AK.

We arrive the Thursday before so have everything crossed!

Now if you look at the Destination D schedule below, Sunday is the AK day with Mr. Joe & friends .. the night time is "open" for speculation.

8 p.m. In-Park Gathering (Optional)Walt Disney World Resort theme park admission required.
Details forthcoming.

Sunday, November 20th?

I double dare them to open this thing in 2016 ..... so we don't need new t-shirts.

thank you, we leave 11/19; was never counting on ROL being open, but had hoped maybe....

Waaaah! We leave that day (although we're not part of D23 anyway).

I mean it's all guesswork but if they are going to open this year, makes sense to preview it to the D23 folks who spent a lot of money to attend Convention in addition to membership.

AHHHH, looks like an update or I totally didn't see it.

9:30 p.m. — Conclusion of Destination D’s amazing adventures.

A printed event program will be distributed to attendees upon check-in.

Please keep in mind, we have a special evening activity planned for Sunday, November 20 that attendees won’t want to miss.

Stay tuned for updates.

I have it from a good source that the special evening activity is Maggie playing soccer in the dark with the park entertainers in Africa.

Okay then .............. just trying to get a good visual, Maggie will have to wear one of the elaborate ROL costumes while up on stilts and holding a sloth on her back. She will be playing against Mr. Joe who will be required to remove his earring as most rec soccer programs require while wearing Mickey's hands and shoes. This will be done on a barges connected to create a mini soccer field (let's up the suspense and not put walls or nets to allow for swimming by either party) - in the ROL theater with the water wall blasting in the background projecting Avatar images.

Each side of theater will be assigned to Team Maggie or Team Joe and wear team tshirts (included in their registration fee)along with glow stick necklaces, bracelets and gloves with flashing finger tips and be provided lotus popcorn buckets and lantern mugs full of specialty cocktails from the Dawa Bar. All of these items will provide the LIGHT of the show.

All members of the winning team get Rumors of Light Tshirts.

Hmmmmm

This might actually be better than ROL. :D

OH yes...that would be a great show!! I wonder how many times a night they could do it, though....

Just reading back the last page or so...the Jingle Bam thing looks great and I've never been to WDW over the holidays (someday!), but being someone that can't get to the World as much as she'd like and being a huge Star Wars fan, I'd be a little disappointed with the sudden change if I were planning on seeing the Star Wars fireworks....I mean, it's no ROL debacle, but still...

Yeah that's how I feel... my upcoming trip was specifically planned to experience WDW during the holidays, but I am a bit disappointed because as a big SW fan, I was looking forward to the fireworks. Especially after hearing so many good things about it! Fortunately I'm lucky that I may be able to see it next year if it's up and running after the holidays.
