Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I don't mean to sound insensitive to travelers, employees, and residents who are being impacted by the hurricane but my mind always turns to the animals.

My mind is telling me that Disney/Animal Kingdom must have a system/plan in place to shelter the animals. Right?

Kimmy, I have been backstage multiple times at AK.....all of the animals on the Savannah and those on display at both walks have their very own buildings which house them at night and anytime they need medical attention. The buildings are amazing IYou should see the size of the elephant building and the height of the giraffe building) and the caretakers are super! They love those animals. Each animal breed has it's own signal to return to their barn, like toot, horn, whistle, etc...There is a bird building which is huge and all the birds can be housed there also.....Don't worry a bit....Disney is a world class operation and all the cm's take very good care of their charges.....

Hi. We just got back and DH had a scooter and we were in room 1086. We weren't far from the lobby at all. The higher numbers were even closer so 1090's or 1100 would probably be even better. We had garden view and this was ours.

Thanks for the info. Was yours a King Room? Did you have plenty of room to put the ECV in at night and charge it up? That is my biggest worry. I'm by myself, but I will have one of those door wedges to keep the door open to I can enter and exit the room by myself. I don't want to take a handicapped room as I don't need it. I just can not walk any distance at all because of bursitis in both hips and nerve pain in my back. I'm more concerned about the space available in the room for the ECV..and closeness to the lobby and outside exits.

No we ended up in a room with two queens. So what we'd do is park it near the slider when we were done for the evening and charge it there. I did see a couple scooters charging in the hall near those room numbers I mentioned. I don't have the scooter in this pic but it at least shows you the layout of our room.

Posted from another thread:

No need to change the BOG but we decided to head down tomorrow instead of today. When we decided , still wasn't sure about parks neigh open today. But fine with decision even though they are open .

Let me know if anyone has any questions I can try and answer while there. We are at BC - eating at Yachtsman tomorrow night and have a breakfast planned for Captains Grill one morning. Will probably hit Crew Cup at some point (went last trip twice - we really like it )

Will try to post pics and give some live updates.

There is now written confirmation from Disney of the YC room refurb project being pushed back until January 2017. Directly from their booking engine:

Beginning in January 2017, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will be undergoing a refurbishment. You may see or hear construction taking place or be redirected as you walk through the Resort hotel. To minimize any disruptions, we will attempt to limit work that may cause noise to between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

For more on refurbishments at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, please call (407) 939-5277. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call.

Sorry if someone already posted this...I did not recall seeing the updated Disney notice posted here, just the notice from the Orlando Sentinel and info passed on from Dee, via a CM friend.

We changed our reservations from GF to BC. We moved up our dates and switched to BC as it was going to cost us $3K more to stay there. I like GF; but not that much!!
Our dates are December 10--19.
It will be our first time at BC.
Any tips?

I'll add you to the list we keep on Page 1 (Post 15).

:cool1:

My favorite tip is to realize there is a "Secret" Entrance/Exit near room 1501. This takes you very close to the International Gateway path. Can be very helpful if it is hot or raining. You can read about it in Post 8.

I also suggest you read over Post 13, FAQ and Post 14, Other Useful Information on Page 1 of this thread.

Thanks for posting.

No, I haven't seen this yet. I had been checking last week and it was still the old date.

:thumbsup2

We decided to change up our 2017 ressie. We are now at YC from 9/7 - 9/17. Dee can you please update the Be Our Guest list when you get a chance?

Thanks!

We were at the BC from Oct 1st to 5th and we were in room 3705. It was a standard view room that was located right above Martha's Vineyard lounge. It was a very quiet room. We requested and received a full balcony. The room did not have a daybed but otherwise was just a regular room. We could hear the music from the pool party in the afternoon and we had a great view of the Star Wars fireworks at night. We couldn't see Illuminations, but we heard the fireworks.

This picture was taken from our balcony while we enjoyed our morning coffee. You could smell breakfast cooking at Cape May. We could see a little of Storm Along Bay, the pirate slide and the Boardwalk.

The red lights are where the Star Wars fireworks were. The red ones were low in the sky. The rest of the fireworks were much higher and we could see them all. :)

This is the view to the left.

The view to the right. Our room wasn't too far from the main elevator. The halls had a lot of turns and were narrow in spots in that section of the resort.

Thank you so much! I would love to charge the scooter in the hall! That would be great! Think I will check with the front desk upon arrival! Am getting excited! I so need this get-a-way!

I just changed our Feb 24 to March 8 mother/daughter trip to AKL from BC so you can remove us from the list, please. I can spend with the best of them but I just could not pass up the $4000 difference between the BC CL deluxe room (we could only get rack rate) and the AKL CL savanna room with the new discount. Crazy price difference-we can take cabs everywhere and pay for all of our meals, drinks, shows, souvenirs and events with that money. Seriously, over $11,400 for BC or $7200 for AKL? Heck, I could rent a limo and hire a chauffeur for the entire trip for the difference=Lol.

Got it! Thanks for letting us know.

:goodvibes

Thank you! If you want the exact dates I'll be there they are the 17-23 :thumbsup2

Thank you!

:thumbsup2

@natebenma can you change our dates on the Be Our Guest list? Our wait list came through so now we don't have to do a split :cheer2:. We'll be at BCV for our whole trip, 11/19-11/26 :goodvibes

You bet!

::yes::

@natebenma when you do the next BOG update can you change our March trip to 8th-13th, we had to add an extra day because flights were a lot cheaper . And for our June trip we could only get 20th-29th, there was no availability before the 20th so we have decided to do a split stay. We will be at the Poly, a new resort for us, June 14th-20th. I'm both excited and a little sad that we won't be at the Beach Club the whole trip. We have never stayed at a monorail resort so that has me excited! Thanks for all you do!! :flower:

Will do!

:woohoo:

Just reserved April 29th thru May 4 at YC Club Level. I have stayed at BC Club Level and super excited to try YC

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:cool1:

Just got back from our Viva Italia ABD trip a week and a half ago and already time to start planning for F&W 2017! :drinking1

As of today, I can officially ask to be added back to the BOG list for 10/6-10/13/17 at BC! DH and I will be doing a split stay again with a dark side hotel prior to our BC arrival, just haven't chosen which one yet! DM, @Tess will be there the same dates, but her and my dad just arrived at BWV today and are already touring the WS. I will request her to be added as I doubt she will have time to ask today! :woohoo:

Thanks Dee!

:welcome: back!

Awesome news!

I'll add you both to the list.

:cool2:

I just booked our second stay at Beach Club! We're headed back in May and this time we're staying exclusively there!

:welcome: back!

I"ll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

I did email my TA and she said that she had the rates but they weren't officially in the system yet. So she quoted me a sweet deal for Columbus Day weekend 2017. I'll jump on it.

Dee, will you officially add us to the BOG list? Oct. 5-9, 2017 :yay:

Will do!

BC?

:woohoo:

Praying for everyone in Florida especially the coastal communities to be safe from hurricane Matthew.
Downtown St Augustine where my DD attends college is being evacuated as of 6:00 am this morning. I was scrambling last night to get her a flight out and very thankful we did
We are on our way to the airport now.
It's hard to think our trip is just 45 days away with everything going on

A friend's daughter goes to that school- she was able to fly her back home on either Wednesday or Thursday. I am glad to hear your daughter is home safe as well. I have seen some pictures of the flooded hallways.

:(

Joining the fun at the YC for the 1st time....Scheduled for Jan 30-Feb 6th, 2017 and flying solo once again. As hip and back problems have hit far too early in my "pedal to the metal" go for it life, I am once again forced to rent a scooter (Buena Vista, most likely as they are outstanding in service) and wondered what would be my best room requests. I would like to be close to the lobby and I've booked a garden view. I would hate to be barreling down a hallway and run some unsuspecting fellow Dis'er over, God forbid. Please add me to the list and happy to meet you' all!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

:cool1:

I saw that you posted this morning about charging your scooter out in the hallway. One word of caution that our CM friend always warned guests about. She often heard from people who had plugged in their scooters overnight to charge and then someone would come by and unplug it to use the outlet themselves, so people would end up with a scooter that had not been charged as expected.

:sad2:

As I said yesterday, we had to cut our Disney visit short due to the impending hurricane. Today I booked our redo. We will be staying at YC from December 18-22. We will also get to attend the Christmas party. I'm very excited and now my prayers go out to all of the people who are being affected by this storm.

Well, :welcome: back!

So glad to hear about your redo.

I'll add you to the list.

Checking in from the Beach Club Villas.

Thanks so much for your report and the great pictures. So glad to hear you are having a fun time. Were your friends able to make it?
