Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Joining the fun at the YC for the 1st time....Scheduled for Jan 30-Feb 6th, 2017 and flying solo once again. As hip and back problems have hit far too early in my "pedal to the metal" go for it life, I am once again forced to rent a scooter (Buena Vista, most likely as they are outstanding in service) and wondered what would be my best room requests. I would like to be close to the lobby and I've booked a garden view. I would hate to be barreling down a hallway and run some unsuspecting fellow Dis'er over, God forbid. Please add me to the list and happy to meet you' all!

I have 2 people with ECV's to deal with. I always request first floor (but my sister requests higher, but she is not the one having to go up the elevator twice helping them). If your solo it may not be an issue.
Close to lobby, close to elevators might be what you want. I haven't stayed YC, only BC. Welcome!
Sarah

I don't mean to sound insensitive to travelers, employees, and residents who are being impacted by the hurricane but my mind always turns to the animals.

My mind is telling me that Disney/Animal Kingdom must have a system/plan in place to shelter the animals. Right?

That is a really good question. All living beings deserve to be safe.

Well this hurricane really put a wrench in things. May have to cancel trip. Supposed to fly in on the 11th. Going to wait until Saturday night to hear how things are. We booked our flight on reward points so will get those back and supposed to check into BC on the 14th, so can cancel 5 days out without penalty.

Most likely they have off site facilities for the animals. We just took the safari ride on Tuesday and the lions were in their off site facility at the time, so I know they have them. :)

We fly out next Thursday, 10/13, and I'm hoping for the best!

My daughter checked in this morning. She was scheduled for 8 pm arrival, but got an earlier flight. She got a room ready text at 11 am when she landed. I'm certain her room is not the standard view that we booked.
She was happy because she was able to get a dvd player and some movies from Mousekeeping. She was not going for the Hurricane Box Meal from the Marketplace, so she went to Picabu and they said that they are still open 24 hours through the storm. She is now ready for the lock down tonight!!
I hope the storm passes quickly!! She says she feels safe at the resort.

As I said yesterday, we had to cut our Disney visit short due to the impending hurricane. Today I booked our redo. We will be staying at YC from December 18-22. We will also get to attend the Christmas party. I'm very excited and now my prayers go out to all of the people who are being affected by this storm.

Hi. We just got back and DH had a scooter and we were in room 1086. We weren't far from the lobby at all. The higher numbers were even closer so 1090's or 1100 would probably be even better. We had garden view and this was ours.

My daughters were asking this very same question today... they were both so worried about all the animals and if they would be kept safe! :(

Hey everyone!

Sorry I have not had a chance to check in here the past couple of days. I'll get caught up on the thread and the many adjustments to the Be Our Guest list over the weekend.

My thoughts are with everyone in Matthew's path throughout the Caribbean, Florida and the Southern Coastal states. Such sad and scary news!

To Florida castmembers and to vacationers who are confined to the resorts today- be safe! We appreciate the reports you have been providing. If I get any news or reports specific to the Yacht & Beach Club, I will pass it along.

Checking in from the Beach Club Villas. Those who watch this thread probably recognize my user name as we are frequent visitors to the World. First I want to say I am safe(as is everyone else here) and happy to be here. I arrived yesterday morning and knew I would be ok getting here and safe on property. My two concerns were the rental car I had booked (didn't want damage to it) and the safe arrival of my friends, who were scheduled to arrive Friday evening.

My flight arrived safely and relatively on time yesterday morning. By the time I arrived, my BFFs' flight had been cancelled for Friday evening. I contemplated turning around and going home as I wasn't sure how much time I wanted to be here running solo, but one was able to book a Saturday arrival and one Sunday morning so I decided to tough it out. I grabbed my car and headed out. Since then there have been many flight cancellations and rebookings so I have no idea whether I will have friends joining me or whether I am going to do the whole trip solo.

My first concern was food, alcohol and water. Our last hurricane visit was Charlie so I knew supplies were going to be a priority. We were staying at the BWI and everything on the Boardwalk was closed during Charlie so I wanted to make sure I was prepared. I checked into my room (did not get all my requests but was off the ground floor which was my first priority and the room was ready so I decided to go with it) got unpacked and headed out for supplies. Picked up some Chinese from Pei Wei, a Giordanos stuffed pizza, veggies, fruit, snacks, a quiche, Redbox movies and alcohol (and I got water at the liquor store) and headed back.

Because of my anxiety regarding the trip because of the hurricane and my early flight, I didn't sleep much the night before. I had a couple of cocktails in my room, some Chinese, put on a movie and promptly fell asleep.

Woke up this morning pleasantly surprised that I didn't wake up during the night. Put on the news and was happy to hear that we may have skirted the worst of it here. I walked out and about and rec staff was everywhere trying to make sure everyone is having a good time. Characters were in the lobby and food options are plentiful and they have talked about maybe Opening the feature pool by evening!

There is a curfew here in Orange County until tomorrow morning but wondering if they may change that.

Wanted to post some pictures of the hurricane party. Truly having great time!

An additional update, particularly to those staying at the villas. I ran into one of the mangers of housekeeping when I was out and about and found out that the housekeeping staff was checking in on guests and providing whatever was needed. I had requested an alarm clock and when I got back to my room, it was there, trash and towel service had been provided (this was day two), my bed had been made (I had left it unmade which I never do since I was planning to hunker down and watch a movie and wanted to snuggle up in my covers) and in general straightened up. A nice touch and will be mentioned in my survey if not before. They are truly doing what they can to make guests comfortable.

If you've ever taken the train over to Rafiki's planet watch they show you the buildings where the animals are kept. They look like pretty substantial concrete structures so I'm sure they'll be safe:-) I think they even bring all or most of them in every night to sleep in their "barns". Disney wouldn't want to risk the animals' lives- think of the PR nightmare:rotfl:

Has anyone else noticed that when looking to book on Disney's site, the Deluxe resorts now say "From $307 per night," when it was only a few days ago that it said from $297?

I just noticed the bump this morning.

Yes, we have entered a new "season" as of yesterday. So from now until the end of the year, the lowest price per night is $307 now.
