Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Information & Questions

This may seem like a silly question, but if we have a four seater golf cart rented, what do we do with our double stroller? We will have 4 adults and 2 small kids that can ride on laps. Is there a place for strollers on these carts?

Someone will have to hold the stroller.

If you rented from WDW then this link takes you to a picture at AllEars to show you what those look like.

If you rented from off-site, then you might want to call and ask them how their carts are set up.

Thanks! One more question, will we be able to see the electrical water parade from the Ft. Wilderness beach? If not, where is the best place to see it? ( and time)

We stayed at the Ft Wilderness for the first time a couple weeks ago. We stayed in the cabins, more specifically loop 2500. We had a golf cart, but for people who don't get a golf cart this would be an ideal location. There was a bus stop directly across the road, the loop was small which would reduce the walk to the stop, and the pool and laundry is directly next to the loop. Having the golf cart was a big plus though and I don't know that we would go without it. The resort is beautiful and so relaxing!!

The cabins were wonderful for our family. We all slept in the bedroom in order to leave the living room open for lounging. We also kept all of our clothes in the drawers under the television in the living room and shoes etc went in the side cabinets out of the way. This allowed some people (DH ;) ) to wake up early and dress or shower without waking everyone else. I felt like there was plenty of room for the 4 of us to spread out. Not sure that I would have 6 there though, lol!

There are a few things I think would have made the cabins better when they updated them. The kitchen was sufficient for what we did this trip, but I could see where it would have been nice for the ovens to stay. When the bathroom was updated I wish they had put multiple mirrors or one large mirror. The counter is large enough to get a couple people in there but the mirror was too small. I think they also could have updated the wasted space in the bedroom where the closet and vanity is. That whole area could be organized a little better to make the room seem larger and more useful.

Our family loved the experience of staying at the cabins! We will definitely stay there when we run out of points next time!! Notice I say when and not if ;)

I read that the cabin water heater is under that vanity in the bedroom - so it is not wasted space. Dave of Your First Visit .net did an in depth review of baking and roasting in the Convection/Micro oven. Other than recipes taking longer than expected it was successful with several common dishes.

Would love to watch EWP and Wishes from the beach at FW. How is the view of Wishes from there?

Not ideal at all! Discovery Island hides a lot of the lower ones, and the experience is just not there! If you like the 'full' effect, front/center of castle beats them all - crowds, and all!! :)

There will be those that 'love' it at FW, but they are usually the ones that aren't going in the parks and are willing to accept a 'much' reduced experience. We would skip it first, after trying a few times over the years at FW.

The EWP can be viewed from the beach very good.

I didn't know about the water heater, but that makes sense. My daughter actually used the vanity daily. I thought it weird how deep it was, but the water heater would be a good reason :)

I did read the review on the microwave. Sounds like it worked great for him. My only thought was if you needed to cook multiple things in the oven or some in the oven and some in the microwave it could take a long time cooking one thing at a time. We don't do this often, but occasionally we do. It would just require some planning for the menu. I would try not to have that happen.

Thanks for the reply about watching Wishes. We have Trails End reservations for Halloween and want to check out the decorations and maybe even the golf cart parade. Was thinking of watching HalloWishes from the beach. I guess we will have to see what our time frame is. We do not have tickets to MNSSHP that night so thought this might be a good idea. We will see the fireworks on another night from the park, just thought this might be a perk after dinner.

I was directed to this thread (I believe) and hope I'm in the correct place!

We're planning our 12th trip to Walt Disney World, and this is our first trip to Fort Wilderness.

We're very excited, but I want to be properly prepared. From what I can see, the tent sites are all sand covered.

Does anyone have a tried and proven method for securing tent / tarps / etc into the sand? If you have specific tent pegs that you've purchased, do you have a location / site to purchase them from?

We're coming from Canada, and would prefer to have it purchased and packed before we go!

Thanks!

I swear by these--you'll need something like a long screwdriver or tire iron to twist them in: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...&tag=playoufirfamv-20&linkId=HPFL7IFC67OK3HSU

Depends on the gear. If the tent is free-standing like a dome and the rain fly attaches to it, then you just need a couple to keep it from ballooning away in the wind. If it needs stakes to hold its shape, or the rain fly needs different stakes, then you'll need a lot more...

We just returned from our stay at a cabin. I just wanted to mention something I observed which I had never seen before. The beach area is closed at night (there is a sign stating it) so I'm not sure that they allow people to sit or stand on the beach area to watch the fireworks or water parade. You can stand on the dock or near where the boat rentals are.

I think they are trying to keep everyone away from the water's edge at dusk and evening, I would imagine that some additional hardscaping will be taking place much like it has already at the GF>

When we were down in February we noticed that the loop 2800 cabins were closed off and it looked like they were removing them. Do any recent visitors know how the work is coming along and what exactly they're doing ? Also any recent pics would be appreciated .

All the cabins received renovations last winter into this spring. Loop 2100 had all the cabins removed and is now a camping loop.

I have a reservation at Fort Wilderness campground for 5 guests this November and would like to increase it to 6. I get as far as increasing the number of guests in MDE then when I click the update button it either doesn't work at all or it says "please wait while we complete your request". After that the guests number remains the same at 5 and the check out button doesn't work because nothing has changed. Has anyone else encountered this problem in the past. I am aware I could telephone Disney but we are in the UK so I thought I would ask here first.

Good morning! We are going to be at the cabins on 9/10 and its my first time traveling with our littles! (Almost 3 and 1.5) we have done disney many times solo but this is our first round with kids.
I was curious if anyone knew if the cabins come pre stocked with a pack and play for the youngest to sleep in or if we need to request one.
Thanks! 2 weeks left!
